We eat at Malawi's often. The food is great. Love the Gluten Free choices! Yummy food for all! The restaurant is clean. The workers are very helpful and pleasant! Like the other reviewers have said, the food tastes good, but the portions are underwhelming. When my wife and I got there, we waited in line for 20+ minutes (which was OK, because it gave us time to look at the menu and figure out what to order). But once we placed our order, we had to walk around the whole restaurant to find a clean table. I don't know what was going on, but all but two tables were dirty. Once our food arrived, they had run out of forks (how does that even happen?), so we had to use plastic forks. I must say, we did indeed enjoy the food, however the dirty dishes piled on all the tables around the entire restaurant were still there by the time we left. Nobody was bussing the table. It's not that they were short-staffed, because there were plenty of people behind the counter twiddling their thumbs and playing on their phones. The next time we're in the mood for some fun pizza, we will go somewhere else, and I advise you do the same. read more

Totally disgusted with the service, i was there on saturday, the asian girl that brought our food to us was rude, she made a rude comment because she couldnt see our number and had to walk another round to find us, instead of putting the plate down gently she shoved it and kinda threw it and it made a loud sound like it was going to break, and then she mixed up the pizzas so we all ate the wrong ones, the asian girl that wears her cap backwards needs some disciplinary action or training, i wont be eating there ever again and i wont be advising anyone to eat there, especially with that type of rude service. read more

Every time I have come here it's almost empty! That's saying something! Pizza was alright. Pasta was terrible! Chicken was not even hot in the pasta. Probably microwaved to be honest. Did not taste fresh. I hope I don't get food poisoning tonight! read more

The pizza is really good. But the crust is really thin. And way expensive for the amount of food you end up getting. If you don't mind the expense then go for it cause it's really good. The desert pizzas are to die for, they are soo good. read more

Fun place where I meet a friend halfway between my houes and her's. Thought the pizza was really good & like the thin crust and it being wood fired. Also enjoyed the dessert pizza too. My friend needs to eat Gluten Free and it's great that they have this option too. read more

My brother took me here when I was in town last month. He was convinced that the cheese was made out of breast milk. It does taste kind of funny, doesn't it? The pizza tasted fine though, and their desserts are pretty good. read more

Good but nothing to write home about. Portions are smaller than CPK but pizza is tasty. Salad was a bit disappointing but it's a pizza joint so I won't complain. This is a good place to take the family and there's family activities across the way which is nice for an outing. read more

I don't mind the pizza here and it supports a great cause, but for what I pay here, I could get a lot more food at a sit down place. I was underwhelmed with the cinnamon sticks. Taste nasty. Fun place to eat. Different than the usual pizza parlor. Loved the concept and love the food. We had several different pizzas including the pepperoni and a desert pizza or two. The peaches desert pizza was unique but very good. We chose to eat outside which was very nice. I like this place and will look for it upon our return to Provo. read more

Pizza was pretty good. BLT salad was even better! They donate a meal to people in Malawi Africa with every purchase of a meal...pretty rad.

Went to a GF meeting the other week and Malawi's brought over some great GF pizza. It tasted delicious and they even have desert pizza too. I would love to have this more often if it were any closer to us here in salt lake county. As it is, it will be a great date night adventure from time to time. read more

Delicious pizzas and dessert pizzas. Great atmosphere. The prices are a little high, but it is really high quality food and they donate nutritious meals to people in need in Malawi. So, it's definitely worth it. I had a birthday party there and they gave me a free dessert pizza with berries on it. It was absolutely delicious and something I probably would not have tried on my own. Just not a fan of this places. A neat environment that seems promising but is disappointing in the end. A server is almost always hard to flag down which is frustrating even for a more casual restaurant feel like this. I would say the food is average. The pizza here is not amazing, but not bad either. I'd describe it as a local, casual version on CPK. Pizzas are fairly inexpensive, one could suffice for two people of not too hungry. It would be nice if they offered wine/beer, or hot tea, the only drinks they serve are the cold-sugary fountain type. read more

I have been going to Malawis for years! I love their pizza so much I had it at my wedding. It's always been a bit pricier in my mind but I enjoy my Malawi Capri Pizza so much, it hasn't really bothered me. That is until yesterday!! I went with my husband and when I went to order my usual the pizza/salad combo, I realized that instead of including the 11" pizza they normally do, the pizza was now a "pizzetta" coming in at 8". So, the menu item I've been ordering for years now comes with less food for about the exact same price. When I asked the cashier about this stupid change, she couldn't give me an answer as to when or why they did this. I'm a business person so I get it but, if you're not making enough money on a certain item why are you just now changing it when you've been open for years? On top of this change our order was incorrect. Definitely won't be eating here again anytime soon. read more

Visited for a late lunch, and sat on a chair that was soaked with urine (obvious from the smell!) Brought it to the attention of the manager, and he was uncaring; no apology, no attempt to remove the chair from the floor. His response was, "That could happen. What do you want me to do about it." We took the chair to the counter, and he said, "Don't do that, leave it where it's at." When I said "No one else should have to sit in urine", he said, "You don't know what it is". Good Pizza with pineapple, anchovies, peperoni and extra forced socialism? I want to be very honest with my review of why I don't like Malawi Pizza. First off, the Pizza is good however the concept that money from your is going in the pockets of people in Malawi really brothers me. I would like to have a 10% lower priced pizza, or perhaps dedicate my 10% to the wounded warriors that help the US solders, cure for cancer, Japanese relief effort or perhaps to help a family in need in the US. Heck, I don't care if the owner of this restaurant wants to pocket the 10% himself and then do whatever he wants with it. I do not care about Malawi Africans and find that my money is being given to them against my will reprehensible. To make matters worse, there are large TV around the restaurant displaying Malawi Africans almost looking through the TV in order to give people a guilt trip about eating pizza while tribal Africans are jumping around with spears. We need to start helping Americans and stop this Madonna obsession with parading Africans children as some kind of trophy. I came on a Saturday night, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was okay, a little crowded and dirty. The caprese pizza was an okay pizza. I enjoyed all of the marinated vegetables and the fresh mozzarella, but the honey wheat bread itself had a funky aftertaste. If they could do something about that crust, I'm sure it would be a much better pizza. The ginger beef salad on the other hand was excellent. The beef was chilled and well marinated as well, and the dressing really good. They used the same bread for the pizza on the side, which was a dissappointment. Pros: Fresh made, but quick. The Malawi Capri is DIVINE! Good customer service. Super fresh tasting food. I wish they'd bottle their balsamic reduction. Have gluten and dairy free options and are super great about working with any other dietary restrictions. Cons: Their water is SO nasty tasting. Overpriced.
