It's been a while since my last review so I wanted to give another 5 star review on how Mailibus continues to have the coolest logo designs from shirts, hats, hoodies , pint glasses and beach towels. Today I bought a old school logo trucker hat and it looks awesome. Lee and his entire family that run the store are so friendly and welcoming. For over a decade, my family and I have been visiting Ocean City, Maryland and a favorite destination on the boardwalk is Malibu's Surf shop. The proprietor, Lee Gerachis, and his team have always welcomed us back as if we are family. Besides having a great selection of outdoor wear (t-shirts, shorts, etc.), they have surfboards, boogie boards, and other items. Moreover, we've taken surf lessons from their instructors, and they are patient with novices, such as me. Coming from the Philadelphia burbs, it's a shorter commute to the Jersey shore and Rehoboth Beach. Every summer for 10+ years that we come to the beach we stop by Malibu's. It is literally the best retail space on the boardwalk, and likely all of OC. Their stuff is always high quality - I still have a lot of the T's and hoodies I have bought over the years and they are all still gorgeous, and the two towels I have purchased over the years still look good as new. And their selection is also stellar. The owner, his kids and their staff are ALWAYS the pinnacle of customer service. Several years back one if their guys spent almost an hour helping my son and I with skate boards. They are just a really awesome, family-owned small business. And I have never walked out of there without something I have loved. -And I don't want to hear ya'll complain about the pricing. Is it cheap? No. But Did you read the part about quality? Quality is not cheap. Last year my son bought a long sleeve t from Malibu's and one from another surf shop on the boardwalk for about the same price. Guess which one is still looking spiffy af? If for some reason you haven't gone into Malibu's, rectify that immediately. Go browse, buy some unique stuff, chill out for a few minutes (that is figurative, because as a note, small shop, bright lights and people? It can get toasty after a spell in there. Great local OCMD spot right on the boardwalk. My boyfriend and I have been down here for a few days an popped in twice. The first time we browsed around and loved a lot of their uniquely designed clothing/apparel - cool hoodies, tees, hats, stickers, mugs etc. We went back the second day and the owner was there again with what I believe may be his sons. Seems like a great family run spot. Super friendly, welcoming, and just makes you want to support their business. I ended up getting Pura Vida bracelets, which I love collecting when I travel and my boyfriend got a really cool sweatshirt, which I believe was designed by local artist. Their items are quality and honestly, really cool. We'll definitely be back on our next trip down and recommend those visiting the area to pop in! read more

The family and I are in town to enjoy a week at OCMD. We needed some surfing equipment and first reached out to KCOAST. Their service was not helpful at all. Then we drove down to Malibu's. Let me say something right now-if you need surf lessons or surf equipment THIS IS THE PLACE. They are so laid back and were so cool about our needs. After our first day of rentals we decided we needed it for one more day. I called the shop and asked if we could and immediately they told me "no problem". After dealing with so many companies that have a million rules about rentals this was an amazing change of pace. I only review places on Yelp when I have a great or terrible experience and this was one of the best. read more

#189 I really enjoy visiting this shop. Sometimes it's to grab some gear, other times it's as simple as just stopping by, saying hello, and finding out where the best waves are. Regardless of the purpose, Lee, the owner, and the staff will always make you feel welcome. Unlike the other surf shops in OC, the owner will always be in the store. And, he remembers the faces and names of locals and repeat customers. Their prices on booties, wetsuits, and gloves are about on-par with online stores - if not cheaper now because they're currently running a 20% off sale on gear through the winter. Brands are some of the best: XCEL and O'Neill. If they' don't have what you want in stock, they can get it for you. Selection-wise, Malibu's is better than the other two surf shops in OC because Malibu's actually carries gear that fits me unlike the other two which seem to only have stock in Small and XL. They sell surfboards here ranging from vintage to new, shortboards to longboards. Nothing mass-produced here, so you won't find a Firewire or other Asian-made boards. Instead you will find great custom boards from American shapers whom Malibu's has developed a good relationship with. I'm very pleased with the longboard I bought from these guys. The entire staff here is very knowledgeable, friendly, local to OC surfers, and they also run great surf lessons right on the 8th street break twice a day. They're open all-year and with some pretty outrageous hours, something like from 9am to midnight. And they're located right on the boardwalk. read more

My son bought a Chemistry surf board the other day and we walked in with several ideas, specific and not specific requests on what he wanted. Originally was going to get a Pyzel board but, the great staff and experienced surfers all talked it through, looked up specs and made recommendations on a different yet better choice. This is his second board purchase from Malibu and it won't be his last. They are so helpful, friendly and make a stressful but, exciting purchase well worth the time. You walk away knowing you make the best choice and thrilled to support the local OC business. We really enjoyed our experience and since we are all they way down in 130th, the trip to 8th street is totally worth it! These folks are the friendliest, most knowledgeable and nicest folks you will ever run across. The shop itself is very and clean and loaded with lots of cool stuff and high quality surf merchandise. I was looking for a body board. I wanted to upgrade from what I was using and came here first. After checking out other surf shops I came back to Malibu. Great prices but their EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE really sold me. There is no hard sell here, just helping you find exactly what you need and they will even let you try out what you are thinking of purchasing. Me and my Fiancé came to this shop while we were on our one day getaway to ocean city. We didn't have any real intentions on making any purchase but once we got to the shop and met the owner Lee, we realize what a nice little shop this was! The owner was personable, super chill, very nice! He wasn't pushy at all and didn't expect us to buy anything. Showed us a few boards, told us the sales and prices, and just let us really absorbed the store at our own pace. I wasn't really sure what I had wanted so decided to step out the store for sometime to think about what I wanted. About an hour or so returning to the store we were then greeted by Lee's son Austin and what a nice kid he was! We explained to him that I've only had some practice on my fiancés Long board, and There are some struggles I experienced with that and that I wanted something more versatile. Honestly the best place in the world. Found this little place looking for a new surf board and ended up with personal lessons! The owners were so nice and friendly. The minute we walked in they spoke to us as old friends. The staff is so helpful and kindhearted! Individual lessons was the best thing for my boyfriend and I; we had a great time with our instructor, Cory, who was extremely personable and friendly.
