I called several auto repair shops in the Boulder and Miami area looking for help with my car. Barry Malik returned my call and spent at least 10 minutes listening and teaching me about what might be happening with my car... it was like an episode of Car Talk ! I knew this was the person and place for my car. I don't own too many things, but the stuff i do own is the best and gets treated by the best. Barry is not just auto repair guy , but a certified Master Mechanic of study and 20 years experience about automobiles; engineer + knowledge + intuition + good ol' fashion courtesy = Malik Motors. I was told by other mechanics that i need a new master cylinder, but only Barry found out why. Had he not investigated , I would have had the same problem again regardless of new install. Like a holistic engineer, he didn't just fix the symptom , he found the cause. An expert diagnostician, he correctly found other regular maintenance issues that weren't on my radar yet ; he told me i needed new spark plugs ... i checked my records and yes ! ... my car was about 4,000 miles past the spark plug life of every 60,000 miles for my car. Barry and his crew are awesome! I'm a student at UM, and I had to take my car there a couple of times. The first time I went in I had to get my air conditioner fixed. Not only did he fix it promptly, but he also gave me a free first time oil change (for being a UM student), fixed my wiper blades, and looked over my car for me and gave me suggestions on what should be fixed soon because my car is getting pretty old. The next time I had to go in because the service engine light came on in my car. After I took the car in, he called my dad (who lives in Colorado) for me to explain to him what was wrong with my car. They discussed the issue and price, and my dad gave him the go-ahead to work on it. Again he found other problems with my engine and suggested to get them fixed and gave me a timeline of when it would be best. Barry is super reasonable, and looking around at other garages the price is comparable. The service is amazing though. He would always have my car done as soon as possible, usually within a day. Ok, here's the skinny. I walked at almost 4:30 on a Thursday. I had severe brake problems and also had been told by another mechanic that I was looking at some transmission work as well. Well, Barry (owner/guy who actually works on your car) checked it out and told me that it was defintely a brake issue but that I didn't have any problems with my transmission. Better yet he added what was needed to the transmission for free and because I was low on oil he even filled that up for free as well. No doubt your thinking he got on the back end with the brakes right. No. He gpot the part and fixed everyhting by 12 the next day. Later that weekend I thought that another issue had come up because the car was shking a little. i went back to the shop and he did about 2 hours of free labor to find and fix the problem. Didn't charge me a dime. Take something like that to another shop and see if you don't get charged for the labor. All in all this is a great shop with great and prompt service. If you need some work done this is probably the most honest mechanic I think I've met in Miami. read more

I was extremely satisfied with the service rendered at Malik Motors. I brought my car there because one of my tires had a slow leak, which I kept having to put air in so the indicator light for low tire pressure would turn off. When I parked my car, I was immediately greeted with a friendly smile and asked how I could be helped. It turns out there was actually a small screwdriver inserted all the way into the tire. After they found it, they removed it, plugged the tire, and checked all the other tires. After all this work, they only charged me a very minimal amount. Lastly, the time between pulling my car and leaving was under 20 minutes. I would highly recommend that anyone with car troubles head down to Malik Motors and you will be in good hands. read more

This place is the best: Barry Malik is the mechanic you always hope you find, and that you stick with once you do. He is both highly skilled and honest beyond belief -- a pretty rare combination in this business. After getting fed up with lousy service from a dealership, we found Malik online and took in a Honda CRV with what seemed like several separate, expensive problems. Barry quickly found the solution (battery/electrical), and it was way less expensive than what another place was quoting. Also did a great job fixing an alignment problem once and for all (car kept going out of alignment not long after being serviced elsewhere, even at the dealer!) Living in Miami my entire life, I never found a mechanic that I could completely trust to perform any and all maintenance and repair on all of my 4 vehicles (2 Chevys, a BMW, and an Audi). I finally found a mechanic I can completely trust with all of them. The repairs and estimates always come out much cheaper than the dealer. They show me all of my parts when the repair has been completed (no more phantom "brake" jobs). Most importantly, they always inform me of exactly what needs to be done, and allow me to choose what repairs I want to move forward with. No pushy sales pitch, just honesty. I was concerned about my transmission shifting late, and since transmission jobs tend to be one of the most expensive auto repairs, I was extremely wary. Called a couple mechanics and one even told me it would cost $800 even before looking at the car based on my description. On advice from a friend I was directed to Barry, and so I went expecting to spend several hundred dollars. He drove the car around and told me everything was fine and there was no need to spend money to fix the transmission. He could have taken me for a "ride", but he didn't. I needed a new mechanic, and I found this place, and let me tell you, what a great choice. Barry is a really good mechanic, and he's honest. He explains exactly what's wrong with your car, and makes it easy to understand, even for someone who doesn't know anything about cars like myself. I was really stressed about taking my car in, but he made it easy. I highly recommend seeing him, for anything from a basic oil change to necessary repairs. On top of everything, it's within walking distance to the South Miami Metro Rail Station, so I can drop the car off, take the train to work, and then come back in the afternoon and walk to get my car. Amazing and honest service. I showed up and right away the owner Barry attended me, i love how he showed me exactly what was going on, and explained in detail why things needed to be fixed.Not only did he fix my car, but i also came away with a lot of information. I am relatively new to Miami as I am here from Ohio attending graduate school. My 2006 Scion Tc has a few aftermarket parts (including and HID conversion system) which makes it a little risky when finding a local mechanic. The left headlight was out, and the problem was higher up as the bulbs were not the problem. Barry could have easily charged more for looking into the wiring, replacing the fuses and fixing the short; however, the price was very reasonable, and some services were discounted (also had the cabin air filter and oil changed). Barry was great. Very curdious and got the problem fixed quickly and the prices was resonable. He explained and reolved the issue that kept coming back every 3 months. I had taken it to FORD Dealership and they kept fixing it but it was temporary. Only lasted about 3 months and then when I would take it back they would say it was something else and charge me hundreds of dollars. I think they have seen the last of me. Malik Motors Inc is the best car garage I've been to in Miami. I was very happy with the service and highly recommend this place. I brought my car there to check out the brakes and power steering. Both of these problems were fixed in a timely fashion and at a very reasonable price. He has always done good work for a fair price, and I have never had a complaint. I was driving down US1 with a trailer when my tire blew I pulled up to Malik motors and was greeted by the owner (extremely nice) he took a look at my trailer and remembered he had some spares sitting around and hooked me up with 2 spares for the trailer and even changed them for me.
