    Rueben and catfish and grits
    Raelene V.

Mom and I were headed to Metro Diner when I remembered my daughter had recently eaten at Mally's and enjoyed it so we decided to give it a go. Mally's is located next to TBones on Washington rd. so there's plenty of parking. This used to be a banquet space and only a portion is being used for the cafe. They also are selling meat, candles, spices and jellies here. There is a little hot bar section which is different daily. One of the servers said they post the day's menu on Facebook. Today was "seafood" day with a few fish options and fried shrimp on the menu. Everything is served a la carte with entrees running about $10 and sides $2.50 each. There were about 8 classic sides to choose from. They also have a soup, sandwiches and salads. There is a large refrigerator with grab and go options but I didn't see what they were. Mom ordered a piece of catfish ($4) and grits ($2.50) and I ordered a Rueben sandwich. Her piece of catfish was large and more than enough to make a meal. She declared it was perfectly fried. It came with a tarter sauce. Her grits were very creamy and they included a container of shredded cheese with them. My Rueben was really excellent and I am super picky about this sandwich so I usually don't order it because I can make a great Rueben at home. The corn beef was sliced thin but there was a gracious plenty. The ratio of meat to cheese to sauerkraut was spot on. It was also grilled perfectly. If you love a good Rueben then this is your sign to hit them up! We both had waters to drink so I can't speak to how the tea is here. The server also told us that from 4-7 they have a dinner option which is two entrees ($10 or less) and 2 sides for $20. After our meal we were full but since all the desserts are homemade we had to try. Mom picked lemon cake. It was in a cooler so the icing was hard and the cake a bit dry but the flavors were there. The tangy lemon curd filling was especially tasty. Everyone working here was super nice and my only complaint is about their seating. Most of the tables are high tops and that's not always comfortable for someone with mobility issues like my 83 yo mom. Other than that quibble this is a great and unique spot.

Smoked wings, macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders

Food was delicious. They have a hot bar to order from and change out the menu with daily specials. Tuesday - Taco bar Wednesday - Sandwiches Thursday - can't remember Friday - Fish Fry Saturday - Smoked meats. Everyone was friendly and offered suggestions on their favorite meats. The wings were seasoned perfectly and my husband really liked the chicken tenders. The macaroni and cheese was spot on for good ole southern comfort food.

The food is absolutely delicious. I had the Reuben and it was marvelous. The brussels sprouts were out of this world.

I had the Golden Orange Latte and it was simply perfect. Customer service was amazing. I was greeted well and offered help with suggestions. The suggestion did not disappoint. They had baked goods, coffees, teas and sandwiches. They had refreshers and drinks for not coffee drinkers also. Moderate noise level. If you want to study in silence this is not the place to go however if you're looking for a great to connect and catch up with friends of have a meeting that requires dialog this space is perfect. There is indoor and outdoor seating. High top/bar style seating, sofa seating and table seating. I'd go back for sure.

I got the TCB delight iced with whole milk and the hash brown focaccia. Both were around $8 which may seem like a lot, but I say you get your moneys worth. The TCB delight was so flavorful and sweet enough where it's not too sweet. The hash brown focaccia... I have no words. There's breakfast sausage, hashbrown, eggs, cheese... breakfast loaf!! It can feed 2 people. It was so cheesy, a little salty, but perfect breakfast in a loaf of focaccia. The service was nice too! It did get busy around 10am, so it may be harder to find seating inside. It also does get loud and I did see some families there with their kids which is completely fine. If you want quiet, I'd say go earlier in the day when they open. Overall, great food and drinks, amazing service, and definitely recommend!!

Lunch in downtown Augusta can go in a lot of directions, but today we wanted something inexpensive,…read morelocal in spirit, and fresh enough to feel like a small reset in the middle of the day. Yelp nudged us toward New Moon Cafe, and while the signage from the street is minimal enough that we almost walked past it, we eventually found our way inside and were glad we did. At 12:30 on a Saturday the timing worked in our favor. We stepped right up to the counter with no queue at all, placed our order, and settled in. By the time our food arrived about fifteen minutes later, the line had grown to the point where people were waiting nearly that long just to order, which gave the whole place that lively, slightly chaotic weekend energy without ever feeling rushed. Mrs. K chose the smoked salmon bagel, which came out panini pressed, a small twist on a classic that she enjoyed. I am still keeping things keto, so the chef's salad with blue cheese was exactly what I needed, a generous portion that felt balanced and satisfying without pushing me off track. They offer plenty of coffee drinks and smoothie combinations, but we kept things simple and were perfectly happy with our choices. There is outdoor seating if that is your preference, and the whole experience had that relaxed, local charm that makes Augusta lunches feel unhurried even when the dining room is filling up around you. This place has an excellent menu with breakfast and lunch options and something to suit different needs. I was excited to know they had gluten free bread options. I ordered the honey crunch bagel (peanut butter, Granny Smith apples, honey and granola--no granola for me though) on gluten free. It comes as a gluten free roll. I was shocked by how something so simple was so delicious. I ordered a side of bacon--seemed to be more like the consistency of microwave bacon but I was just grateful to have a protein option outside of eggs. I also ordered a decaf iced caramel latte with coconut milk. Their regular caffeinated iced lattes are made with their cold brew. If you are someone without food allergies, their pastry case looked AMAZING. Highly recommend for breakfast, brunch or lunch!
