    Breakfast of champions!
    Aaron S.

Breakfast will always, always be my favorite meal...any time of day! But if I'm being honest, I enjoy it most for lunch and supper. I mean who wants to eat a plate sized slice of country ham and a biscuit smothered in white/sausage gravy with a scrambled egg (or two) and some grits with cheese at 5 in the morning? Not to mention if there's a slice of toast (cut diagonally of course) and some fruit. Of course you have to wash all that goodness down with a minimum of 2 cups of coffee (whatever the level of quality of those beans) and maybe even some sweet tea just for good measure. See? I told you it's a lot to be consuming before the sun ever peaks over the horizon. And so recently I made my way to Sunrise at noon, having not been in a few years. Per usual the place was hoping and folks were waiting for a spot to open. Now I'll mention that if you are solo or maybe just two of you that the barstool seating opens up quickly. But at this point in life I need the back of a chair and some privacy so I can fully enjoy this goodness. But I digress. The table is self sufficient in that it has hot sauce, salt and pepper, Smucker's jams and apple butter, napkins, and menus. They will bring out creamer and butter with your order. The menu is straightforward, but fully customizable. You want fried apples instead of grits? Or bacon instead of ham? Just ask. And the team here are like the family members you actually like. You know, the nice ones who always give good birthday presents and a piece of candy when no one's looking. Now there are a couple of televisions on the walls, but if you position yourself intentionally you avoid seeing them (and the volume is off). Like all good diners, this place is a cornucopia of people. I loved the diversity, but especially seeing older adults at tables and young (to me) couples at other tables. It truly felt like a reunion of sorts. I look forward to returning much soon then before. I hope you'll do the same.

Got all the way home and they didn't put my receipt in the bag and did not give us any of the bacon we ordered.

Augusta doesn't have a great breakfast scene. So, you're sort of limited by what's available. This being said, Sunrise has quickly become one of my regular spots. The décor and setup are really nothing special. It's just sort of big room in strip mall. But if you can get past this you'll be in for a treat. What stands out most to me is how fast the food comes out. Man, I put my order in, glance at my phone and before I know it my food is out. I absolutely love how quickly the wait staff and kitchen function. Every time I've been here they've been on their A-game. My only gripe, is that I have found all of the proteins I've tried (the bacon, ham, chicken friend steak, sirloin steak, ham and sausage) to be underwhelming. And don't get me wrong, they're fine. But simply don't stand out when compared to the other aspects of my plate. The potatoes, eggs and grits are just fantastic. And again, they show up super fast! Both prices and portion sizes are very reasonable. Pro tip, at the time of this writing, there is a 10% of coupon you can use if you check in on Yelp. My next goal is to show up for lunch and try out that menu. I'd strongly recommend swinging by and grabbing a bite if you're hungry in the AM. I'd suggest being cautious on Sunday. Either come before or after the church crowd to avoid the chaos. I'll continue to frequent this spot.

We enjoy this breakfast spot. Expect to wait but parking is easy. Servers are friendly and the food is decent. I've tried several items over multiple visits and enjoyed them all.

I've been coming to Sunrise for years and have used them for catering services as well. I've never had any issues with the food and the prices are great. Most of the time I do not have to wait when dining in but there have been a few times I had to wait. The service is good at times and depending on who you get, it's amazing. The atmosphere is laid back and never too energetic.

Great place for breakfast. A lot of food for the price. It gets pretty crowded. I'd come back for sure.

Starting with our drinks, we both had coffee-which I would return for the coffee alone! It was bold, curious, mysterious and honestly had me asking for the name of the coffee before I left! We had a server in training, so two servers! Both were outstanding! Quick to refill our drinks and remove plates that were empty. The food.....let me just say I not only spoke with management, I also was able to speak with the head chef to give my praise. I am not one to sing false praise, trust me. When I tell you I have never, ever, had a brunch as delicious as his!!! I am a French toast connoisseur, and his was a 12/10! There was not one bite of food that wasn't outstanding. I was truly impressed, with his creativity and his attention to detail because it shined like a diamond from the front of house all the way down to the sweet lady filling the cakes when I was taking my pictures for this review! "Let me get it all full and pretty now before you get those pictures!" I mean, if she wasn't just the sweetest thing, and took 100% pride in her work. Same with the gentleman working the omelet station. He came in the day before to prep the fish (which is a long day of work!) The love they put into each dish truly shines through effortlessly! With permission, personally, I would suggest they rename their Sunday Brunch to "Soul-filled Sunday Brunch" because #1 I left ready to go to sleep! #2 I had a religious experienced during that meal, in blessings and dining I have only ever had at Church Potlucks! #3 It elevated some fancy and some common foods to such heights, I was expect to be hearing gospel music while I ate! #4 Personally, I hope heaven's banquet table is much like today's-full of love, flavor and most importantly-community! Everyone from other diners enjoying their brunch to servers, sous chefs to the top man himself-not one person wasn't smiling from ear to ear. It's been near a decade since I've seen that many smiling people all in one place! While I will have to limit how often I come for Brunch lest my clothes start shrinking! Edgar's by far, takes the trophy for elevated dining experiences in Augusta, Ga! Best of all, a percentage of all their sales goes back directly into Helms College (located in the same shopping center.) Helms college offers hands-on education in culinary arts, health services, and industrial trades like HVAC/R. Keep up the amazing work, I eagerly look forward to dining with you again!

We started with the fried cheese curds (yes, I insisted), and even my skeptical husband admitted they were excellent. The pepper jelly dipping sauce gave them the perfect sweet-and-spicy balance. He ordered the garlic parmesan wings, which he rated 8 out of 10--though I should note that I'm pretty sure his personal rating scale tops out at 8. He would've preferred a dry rub, but still gave them a thumbs up. I had the blackened chicken with shrimp, served over rice and beans with a crema sauce. I usually avoid blackened dishes for fear of too much heat, but this had just the right amount of kick. It was flavorful and well-balanced, and I'd absolutely order it again. To top it off, they had a great beer selection. I had the Mango Cart, a wheat beer with a bright, fruity flavor--super refreshing. Service was fantastic, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the vibe was relaxed and welcoming. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and we're already planning to come back. I'll tell you what made me unhappy. We were there on a 95 degree day. When we were seated our waitress brought us a carafe of water and 2 glasses. Room temperature water and no ice. I asked for ice and she brought us a cup of ice. Not really enough for 2 people and it melted down as soon as I poured water over it. I figured that the only way I would get ice was to order a drink, so I ordered ice tea. That usually comes with ice. Right?? Well our waitress said that she had to brew me a fresh cup of tea which when you pour that over ice the ice melts away and again I had a glass of room temperature tea. I couldn't get a cold drink here to save my life. And did I mention that it was 95 degrees out? My wife ordered a Rubin sandwich, not realizing that it was a spicy sandwich. One bite and she was done. She doesn't like spicy food so I traded her for my simple bacon egg sandwich on a bagel and I had her spicy Rubin. And it was spicy! They had a mustard that must've been made with jalapeño and if you like heat, you will like this. Plenty of parking. Full bar. Clean restroom. Very average.
