After several years of cortisone shots I finally decided to have the joint surgically repaired. Boy, had things ever changed since my first visit several years earlier. First, Dr. Puckett does not regularly see patients anymore. That task has been relegated to a nurse practitioner. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. The bad is one of his nurses, Matt Daniel. All of my dealings with Mr. Daniel were confrontational. He refuses to listen and is more interested in being accusatory than actually helping patients. Case in point . . . My surgery was scheduled for December 8, 2022. On the Monday prior, I had an appointment with my cardiologist (I have a-fib) to get cleared for my surgery. On Tuesday and Wednesday I had my pre-op with the hospital and Specialty Orthopaedics. On Wednesday I was waiting for a phone call from a hospital nurse to give me pre-op instructions when Matt called and told me I had to be back at the cardiologist at 2:00PM - the same time as my phone call. I might mention that I live in Cleveland, GA so every trip I have to make to Gainesville is 50 miles round trip and pretty much takes a whole day. After the second cardiologist appointment I went on home thinking that everything was set for surgery. Then at 5:30pm on Thursday evening - the night before my surgery - Matt called and asked me if I had made my cardiologist appointment that afternoon. When I told him "yes" he advised me that that still did not have surgical authorization from them. I asked what he wanted me to do about that. He said they could not proceed with surgery with the cardiologist's authorization. Finally, out of frustration, I told him that I was going to be at the hospital the following morning at my appointed time and that if they wanted to perform the surgery they could and if they didn't, I would go home. The surgery went ahead as planned. But Dr. Puckett refused to address how I had been treated by his staff. He didn't say ten words to me before the anesthesia took over. The surgery was successful. That's a good thing. But I will never use this practice again because of the way I was treated. Charles Massingale

However, I had to come back in and get another ingrown out that I thought I would be able to get myself. It left it a fragment which caused pain. And needed medical intervention. I anticipated the needle going into my toe and being anesthetized like the time before, but Dr. Johnson said it would be small and no big deal. He proceeded to use some freeze spray (which only takes maybe the initial sting away) and then went right in. He operated quickly, and intensely, being very rough never offering to stop or providing anesthetic besides the initial freeze spray. He made comments to me acknowledging he knew how much pain I was in. Stuff like "Oh I know, bad doctor bad doctor" and continued to cut all the way to the nail matrix. With NO anesthetic. I can only imagine this is what true torture feels like. After the procedure he stuffed cotton under my raw dug out toe nail while I wailed in agony. Don't think it's standard procedure to do that to someone without anesthetic. It was torturous and completely unnecessary. He showed no empathy or remorse and didn't ask me once if I wanted anesthetic. Cost me $50 and the worst pain I've ever felt. I'm not coming back. And highly advise others to consider going elsewhere to have your ingrown removed if you value being treated with respect like a human being. After the procedure I was burdened with a week's worth of nightmares regarding the experience along with emotional distress and lots of crying. I feel like Ive been completely violated and will continue to use my voice and speak out about the medical malpractice I experienced from this doctor.

At the one hour mark I was taken to a room and my stats were taken about 10 minutes later. Then more waiting. I finally went out into the hall and asked how much longer and I was to 30 more minutes at which time I went to the front and got my copay back. I never saw a doctor or provider anywhere during my visit. When I asked where the doctor was I was told they only had providers present. I told the girl I had been talking to that this was absolutely unacceptable. She looked at me , said have a nice day and walked off. I will never go there again! It had been recommended to me by a friend so I was expecting professional service. If there was a zero star rating that would be my choice.

Because I was treated the day after my symptoms began the PA's treatment approach was "not to do anything crazy like a normal course of 7 or 10 day antibiotics." I received a 5-day script of Azithromycin (not Z-Pak) with a 1-dose-per-day. After a week my symptoms only got worse. I had to miss 3 days of work. Being 65 the congestion concerned me most. So I called them back to request they call in an expectorant to break up the congestion. They said I would need to pay them AGAIN in order for them to call a script for congestion in. Though this establishment is not corporately owned (their words not mine) it sounds like Dr Perry as the owner has a bottom line corporate business model. More and more small town establishments are all about the money. This was my first and last time at this facility. Don't waste your money once or twice if they try and finagle your hard-earned dollars. And, don't bother researching them via their website. It's been non-existent (down) for some time. But that makes sense. I hope this helps the working man trying to feed his family in rural GA.

The check in desk is filled with some great staff, who are perky, friendly and filled with great knowledge and information. The rooms are clean, and well laid out . The supervisor was always around, making sure the patients were going in on time and doing well. Overall, a very smooth operation.

A car drove over my foot and even though I had been cleared to travel by the ER doctor in CA, I should have cancelled our east coast summer trip and gone home to rest. However, I thought my foot would heal and took the risk. Our vacation turned into ER visits for 10 days (every 2 days) when we were visiting friends in Florida and finally made the decision to go home. I stopped at my parent's house in Sautee to prepare to go home and needed to visit the ER again and at that appointment they recommended that we see a podiatrist before making the long trip west. I called Dr. Rose's office and they saw me the next day. I was very pleased w/ the front office in handling my appt. and dealing w/ the fees which were extremely affordable (given how expensive out-of-pocket fees can be on the west coast). The assistant who took my history and vital signs was very patient, professional and nice. Dr. Rose was very different from most physicians I've dealt with. She gave me all the time I needed to do a thorough exam of my foot, asked about the initial accident, visits to the ER, and all the procedures done on me (x-ray's results and chart notes from each visit as well as the meds I was taking). She diagnosed my injury as a hematoma which is something none of the ER docs could do. Dr. Rose was very gentle w/ removing the gauze in the wound on the top of my foot near my toes and gentle in putting in new clean gauze. She recommended I get a special shoe at the medical supply store nearby and that I stay 5 or 6 days and make one more recheck visit w/ her before going west. I was happy to take her advice since I felt she was competent and really concerned about another flare-up from sitting in a car for days on end. I was very happy with the visits to her office and the fees were very reasonable for someone without insurance. I wish she were out west where I am so that I had her as my ongoing physician into the future. Highly recommend Dr. Rose! Thank you so much everyone at Habersham Podiatry.
