Thanks to our Aloha rental car customer service rep, I was directed to Maluhia Collective when I asked her if she knew where I could find vintage Hawaiian shirts and muumuus. I took hula classes as a child and recently took it up again after retirement. Maluhia Collective's new location at 343 Hanamau Street Kahului , HI 96732 was a little difficult to find because our maps directed us to turn into a car dealership on the other side. Luckily, I was persistent and eventually found the shop. We parked in the parking lot next to the building. The owner, Tianne greeted us warmly and I quickly got to work looking through the racks of vintage Hawaiian muumuus. My husband looked at the Hawaiian shirts while I tried on about 7 dresses. I found 2 that fit me perfectly and ended up buying both. They were both so unique and beautiful. Tianne and her sweet little daughter were both amazing people and fun to chat with. What a gem! Pun intended here, and once you step inside, you'll see what I mean! So many different "gems" inside, from crystals to jewelry, tote bags, trinkets, coffee mugs, children's clothing & toys, books, candles, swimsuits, cover-ups, and all sorts of items to beautify your house, your wardrobe, or...your aura! One of my favorite things about this fairly new shop (I believe they opened about 6 months ago) is that it features Hawaii-made/locally-made products. I found so many great gifts to bring back for friends & fam on the Mainland, and it always feels good to support small local biz! The owner, Tianne, is also a gem all on her own! She helped me find the perfect gifts for everyone that my husband and I were shopping for, and not to mention a beautiful kimono-style cover up for moi! Her adorable little girl was also "overseeing the shop operations" alongside her the day we were there (so cute!). Having lived in Hawaii for many, many years, I always miss everything about the islands. Thankfully I can still visit regularly, and love discovering new local gems like Maluhia Collective. Maluhia Collective is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite places to buy gifts. Not only is it a locally owned business, they have the coolest stuff!!! I love my crystals (bc we love the good juju!!) and i love my new mug (cannot post because it may or may not have a sparkly sentence enhancer if you know what im sayin') and other gifts that I got for some loved ones. Customer service is beyond excellent. When you talk to Tianne (the owner), you feel like you've known her forever. She's THAT kinda girl. After we left here, my husband had even asked me if i knew her! He said she was just like someone I would be friends with. So yes, she is basically AWESOME!! The 5 stars is very well earned for this diamond in the valley. When you can't walk past the threshold without ooo-ing and ahh-ing and buss laughing, you know you have found your new favorite store. This unique boutique is full of fun gifts full of mana and maniacal laughter inducing expressions. They carry a gorgeous selection crystals, jewelry, clothing, fragrances and some clothing styles from local designers. I was able to snag a few bracelets for my girl. Bestie 1 snagged a Pareo and jewelry. Bestie 2 grabbed a few scents. Located in the Wailuku Food Truck Court, this is the only stand alone building within the Court. Such a beautiful little find! I was on island for work from the Big Island and as fate would have it, while looking for parking I found a spot in front of this brand spanking new crystal shop-like open three days new. Turns out the owner is from the Big Island too! We swapped stories, I enjoyed the beautifully curated collection of unique raw specimens and a handful of polished pieces (because sometimes you need a little sparkle). There is also a section of local clothing and products that compliment the energy of the crystals perfectly. Tianne is knowledgeable and welcoming and the energy of her space is intentional and warm.
