Ok went there last Thursday July 2nd. Even though I read a review that it was located in a gas station that slipped my mind. The gas station and Mama C's were very busy. I almost got hit in the parking lot as people tried manuavering around pick up trucks and boats..High Rock Lake is nearby and people stop for gas for their boats and get awesome food from Mama C's. My only complaint was my food took nearly an hour to get to the table. No pictures because I was hungry. The smashburger was excellent and I will be back just not on a holiday weekend. read more

Yes yes yes. I have followed mama c's on Facebook for some time, and finally made the 40 minute drive to try it out. We went on a Monday, kids eat free! I got the Mac daddy smash burger and I could eat a million more of those. It was absolutely delicious. Between myself, my husband and the kids we had fries, onion rings and sweet potato fries. The onion rings were my favorite, and the honey mustard for the sweet potato fries was SO good. Below reviews are accurate - it is in a gas station.. a CLEAN gas station. Yes it's in a gas station, and yes there is limited seating available, but Mama C's is far more than it appears. The first thing I want to note is that they have gluten free options that I haven't seen in most of North Carolina, including onion rings which is something extremely rare. For anyone looking for GF food that's just as bad for you and just a delicious as everyone else gets, look no further. We tried the fried pickles GF (which you can get elsewhere in NC) and the onion rings (which you definitely cannot) - both were great. I also had a regular hamburger and an IPA which were terrific as well. The only thing I don't like about this place is how far it is from me. Mama C's absolutely deserves to be considered a proper eatery and I would love to see them expand into a second, more traditional, location in the future. read more

Holy Cow! Who knew the food in a Marathon Kitchen would be so freaking great! It's really nice inside. Order your food at the counter. You can stay in or takeout. They have inside and outside seating and the bring the food to you. Even better... they have a great selection of tap beer and wine. The beer is filled from the bottom of the cup. So cool. The staff is friendly, the store was very clean and the food was delicious! I got the Madison and hubby got the Mac Daddy smash burger. Onion rings are highly recommended- by us anyway. I saw a post on a Facebook group about this place and decided to drive the 30 minutes south to check it out. It located is located in a convenience store but it's a full restaurant and bar. I was there for lunch so I didn't get a beer but I noticed they had a really nice selection of local beers on tap. We placed our order with Bridget, who was super friendly and then we sat down to wait for our burger. While we were waiting she brought us some free complimentary popcorn. I have the Mack Daddy which was a smashburger, with mac and cheese, and bacon jam. I thought it was a really nice burger. It was messy of course so you will need napkins. It is totally off the beaten path, but a great find! It's Located in a Marathon gas station in Lexington NC with only a handful of tables. You order at the counter. Coffee and fountain soft drinks are ordered at the counter, but self served through the gas station. I had a gluten-free chicken and waffles with gluten-free onion rings. when we arrived, they were very busy during lunch. They told us our wait time would be approximately 30 minutes. It ended up being maybe 15. we got free cinnamon rolls while we waited. Bridget was very nice and very informative about the menu and different food items they had in different sauces. My daughter got the wrap was very good. Had tons of meat. Just finished a breakfast here and it did not disappoint! The prices are great and portions are very generous. The staff are kind and helpful. They make you not only feel welcome but also special. Wow what a surprise!! I definitely was not expecting such great food coming from the gas station! Great job revamping this place. The food was great and plentiful! The club was so big that I had to split it up to eat. The burgers are freshly cooked and with the pimento cheese and bacon on this one; man it did not disappoint! The Mac and cheese definitely has some of their homemade pimento cheese in it. Wow it was on point and I'm a hard critic with my macaroni! Hate I didn't get pictures of dessert, but we tried the 2 layer brownie, lemon butter bar and cinnamon roll. Again I was very surprised because it was so good! This place was above and beyond what I had imagined even after reading the many great reviews. I had a "build your own" GF Smashburger that was simply one of the best burgers I've ever had. The crisp, thinly sliced GF onion rings were number one of any onion rings I have had anywhere and were served with Mama's Special Sauce--amazingly delicious. My non GF husband agreed on all of the above. As a to go for later we took GF chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, Mac n cheese and a piece of chocolate layer cake. Holy cow--the crust on the chicken was A+ as was the cake, and the Mac was the best GF I've ever had. Sweet potato fries were yummy too. If you're within 30 miles of this place it is well worth your trip. Don't get hung up on it being within a gas station--the staff is friendly and helpful, service was quick. The owner noticed my GF bun and came to see how I liked the GF food. If there was a James Beard award for GF cooking she should be nominated! read more
