As my husband said, "this place has ruined me for any other Italian restaurant." Service was friendly, prompt, and attentive. Prices are reasonable. And the food is absolutely incredible. I had the meat lover's lasagna. It was everything you want in lasagna-- piping hot, flavorful, cheesy, and comforting. My husband had roasted tomatoes and basil with feta over angel hair pasta. (It's normally served over gluten-free pasta, but the server actually suggested subbing another pasta.) The depth of flavor from the caramelization of the tomatoes was astounding. Yesterday we decided to eat here and we always order the meat lovers lasagna and split it in half. We have been coming here for over 20 years and have always had a nice meal. Something was off about yesterday's meal. The lasagna was borderline dry on one half of the dish and we had a hard time finding the "meat lovers" part of the dish. I'm not totally giving up on this restaurant but it will be many many months before we go again. We also ordered a extra small Minestrone so we didn't have to split the one in half that comes with the meal. I was told by two separate people on the same week to try this place out so I decided to give it a try! We are new to the area and wanted to try something new that was actually good. This place blew my expectations. Not only is the place big, it's BEAUTIFUL, and our waitress HOPE was phenomenal. Her service is the MAIN reason we will be back and of course secondly the food was absolutely amazing. We had the mozzarella sticks and zucchini. My daughter has a life threatening allergy to chicken. She asked the simple question as to whether or not their pepperoni has chicken as one of the ingredients, because many brands do. The two young girls working the front had no idea and said "probably not". "Probably not" is NOT an acceptable answer when dealing with allergies, nor is "I don't know"! My daughter asked for them to please check. Even the cook said he didn't know! Then one of the young girls asked my daughter just how bad her allergy is and if it would be a problem"! REALLY?! We are new to the high desert, and are so happy to have found a good Italian restaurant up here. First thing that came to the table was bread and a balsamic vinegar/oil dip. Yum. My husband ordered the Smoke House Pasta and said he would choose that dish as his last meal! I ordered the Bruschetta Pizza. It was good but needed something. I also got the Antipasto Fantastico Salad... nice fresh crunchy lettuce is a plus (it was not the bagged lettuce)... just wished they chopped up the deli meats/cheese into smaller pieces. And we ended our date with the chocolate cannoli for desert. Highly recommend you order one of those! We will definitely be going back there and taking family & friends who come up to visit us. I was craving Italian food so we decided to try Mama Carpino's on a Sunday afternoon. It was raining so keep in mind the parking is in the back and you have to walk to the front. We signed up on the waitlist and it wasn't too long before they sat us down maybe 30 minutes. The inside is very classic italian, and it feels very family centric. The restrooms were kind of small but very clean. The service was awesome, they refilled our drinks without asking and they kept checking on us to make sure we didn't need anything else. Now the food. The home salad was what you would expect from a salad. The Caesar salad was reallyyy good they break down the croutons into the salad. The appetizers were chicken tenders, wings and mozzarella sticks, everything was good nothing crazy. The Italian jalapeño poppers were delicioussssss, a little spicy but very very good, definitely try them. My husband ordered the baked ziti, he really liked it. The only thing I can really complain is that it's a little dryer than what I'm used too, but even then it was good. I ordered the wild mushrooms ravioli and it was amazingggggg. My only complaint is that I wish the portion was bigger it was that good. My husband liked it too because it wasn't super mushroomy. After having eaten here a few times, Mama Carpino's is unfortunately officially a no-go for me. The employees are generally pretty friendly. Service isn't the quickest, and depending on where you are placed, you may be forgotten. It is a large establishment, so there are plenty of indoor seating sections as well as two smaller covered outdoor sections. The interior is clean, albeit outdated and dark. The three single stall restrooms are well-maintained. There is a small private parking lot behind the restaurant and free street parking in front. The noise level is moderate unless there are large parties present. They have a decent selection of pastas, desserts, and drinks (alcoholic and non). Unfortunately, the food is consistently bland, extremely messily plated, and overall unsatisfying. More often than not, the food arrives lukewarm. The desserts taste artificial. While the wine selection is okay, the mixed drinks are ill-prepared. Hence, the prices are unjustifiable, especially for add-ons. Of course, a sit-down Italian restaurant is going to be pricier, but what you pay here in relation to the quality of what you receive is severely imbalanced. Perhaps a smaller menu with a greater focus on flavor and plating would help. I know this is a local favorite; however, as fellow local, I would suggest spending your money elsewhere. read more

Speechless! This was our first time at Mama Carpino's and we left very satisfied. We visited on Friday night, the wait was a bit long about 1 hour but definitely worth it. Once we were sat down the server was very attentive and brought our dinner our appetizers right away. The ambiance in the restaurant is very inviting. The food was delicious!! I wanted to be mad because the sauce was so liquidy, but it tasted so good that I don't even care. I got the creamy mushroom pasta lunch special and added chicken, and it was truly divine. Pasta had bite without being too firm. Easily one of the best takes on this dish I've had in the area. Italian Jalapeño Poppers threw me off in the best way. Spicy. Cheesy. Crunchy. My husband and I come here at a minimum once a month. I love the food. I have never had a meal that I did not like and we have eaten most things on the menu. The staff are always great. We try and eat in the bar every time we go, and the server there always remembers us.. I almost always get the calamari. It is my favorite.
