West LA prices in Victorville, skimpy serving of meat on the pastrami sandwich, $5 for fountain sodas, and okay charge us a mandatory service fee for a party of seven (including three kids) but 25% is what a caterer would charge not a small diner. I enjoy the background music of jazz, the spacious seating, and as always the wonderful service. I tried something different this time, and I feel that their menu often evolves (which it should) and that's why I like to come back: to see and taste something different. This time, I went with an Avocado toast. Simple right? But I do enjoy the details of simple things, like the finely diced tomatoes and the perfectly poached eggs. I was impressed with their salad and vinaigrette. It was a simple bunch of greens but that dressing looked homemade, with small chunks of olives. The food was really good. This was the first time we've come here even though we've lived here for years. We had breakfast. All of the food was cooked really well, high quality, and tasted really good. The reason for the low star rating was simply for the service from one individual in particular. He seemed to be bothered by our order and by us, and we left with a feeling that we were inconveniencing him by asking for more coffee or and a fork. He seemed to be taking out his frustration on everyone around him, even on another server. I'm sad to write this as I've been coming here since they opened. The owner and staff are very friendly and the food is good. Last time we went we were so shocked at the price increases. Probably 30-40% increase on everything. It was $22 for a roast beef sandwich and $28 for waffle combo. I'm not sure what happened but we walked out and won't be back. I'm not sure how they will stay in business but it's the most expensive cafe in the desert by far. Bummer read more

The restaurant is like a small diner nothing fancy. The food was good for the most part. I ordered steak and eggs. I requested the steak to be medium and it came well done. The fries were delicious. The mimosa's packed a punch. The mimosa's would be the only reason I return to this restaurant. One Star -- Disappointed by the Service and Surprise Charges I really wanted to like this place. We came to Corner Café in Victorville with a party of 10, excited to support a local spot and have a good time together. Unfortunately, the service we received from our server Shaun completely ruined the experience. From the moment we sat down, it felt like we were being ignored. Shaun took our order and then basically disappeared. He never checked in on us--not once. No refills, no "how's everything?"--nothing. We had to wave down other staff just to get basic things like napkins and condiments. It honestly felt like we were an inconvenience rather than valued customers. What really pushed things over the edge was the 30% service charge added to our bill. We understand that gratuities can be added for large parties, but Shaun never mentioned it, and it wasn't clearly posted anywhere that we saw. To charge us that much after such inattentive service felt sneaky and unfair. We're always happy to tip well when the service is good, but this just left a bad taste in our mouths. We came in ready to enjoy ourselves and left feeling ignored and overcharged. Disappointing all around. read more

There's a lot to be said about this simple unsuspecting breakfast diner. First let me say, it is a very good place for breakfast and lunch. On the surface you might think that is all it is but...you would be wrong! On the weekend afternoons the chef Oui Yen flips the script and the cafe menu transforms into a Cajun restaurant serving fried fish, Cajun shrimp and other creole favorites such as the traditional Cajun crab boil and whatever else the chef creates for that weekend! This review focuses more specifically on the breakfast and lunch menu...I'll give the Cajun review at a later time. My son and I stopped by for breakfast while I was getting my car serviced. This place is easy to find being situated just off the Roy Rogers exit off the 15 freeway. We were surprised to find such a great variety on the breakfast menu. They had all the basics (eggs, with breakfast meats and pancakes or French Toast, ect) but they also had some standout harder to find items such as a plethora of sweet or savory crepe options and several types of eggs Benedict, stuffed French toast and a good variety of vegetarian omelettes. The best thing I can tell you is they get all the basics right! The eggs were perfectly soft scrambled just like I ordered them. The French toast and pancakes were spot on in texture and flavor. The atmosphere was casual warm and friendly. My only reservation was the prices. The prices seemed a little high to me. A simple stack of pancakes was $9, I paid $13.25 for the equivalent of a grand slam breakfast ( 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and a single pancake). Comparatively speaking these prices are not outrageous especially in the post pandemic new normal. But nevertheless I wonder if the cost of a basic breakfast will ever come back down out of the stratosphere. All of that aside, I like this place. They have jazz playing which is pretty annoying when its combined with all the conversations at various tables. The staff is very nice but never checked on us and actually had to visit the counter for a refill on my iced tea. Greeted and seated almost immediately, our server was professional, a bit short on words but prompt with our food and drinks. She was running the whole shop herself though to give her credit. We all ordered breakfast, my eggs over medium on point, the bacon, hash browns and rye toast as expected. But just an average breakfast that I could have made myself. Good, not bad, not great and it served its purpose at the time. My team all seemed the same about their meals as well, it was okay to an even "Ive had better" from one of my business partners who's a trained chef.
