We went to Mama Della's for Magical Dining and had a great experience. We made a reservation for Saturday evening and we were seated within 5-10 minutes. The magical dining menu includes a three course meal with some good options. The drinks were delicious and strong, but not overpowering. The food was delicious from the calamari to the bread to the entrées and especially dessert...they did not disappoint! All of the food seems fresh and came out in a timely manner. The service was great. Our server was attentive and anticipated our needs. Mama came around a few times and spoke to us and the live music was very impressive. It was loud, but their voices and instruments sounded amazing. The food on the regular menu is a bit pricey, but it is to be expected. We arrived early for our party of 10. We decided to sit by the bar at the adjacent restaurant. The bartender was NOT pleasant. It was as if he was forced to serve us. I'm honestly not sure why, bc he seemed nice to the couple next to us. Our plan was a night out with the girls "just because." 5 minutes after sitting there, the fire alarm went off. None of the team member seemed to be phased by it. We asked the bartender and of course he just shrugged. Thirty minutes later our table was ready, alarm and lights still blaring. They seated us. The chairs were all different styles and height....maybe the theme. Simply didn't work, some of us were chest height to the table and some normal... simply weird. The table to table singers, bless their hearts, sang so loudly. However this was not the time-- between the alarms, the dark weird light with flashing emergency lights, it was just overstimulating. The two stars, instead of one, is simply for the drink we had and the manager rebooking us at another restaurant. Said restaurant was at the other hotel, two boats away and too much to get to. We left and found another Italian restaurant, after the first boat ride to city walk. I don't think I'll try Mama Della's again. read more

The restaurant is in the first floor of the Portofino hotel. We actually heard about this place from one of people we were talking on the rides on epic. He recommend to check out the restaurant. We didn't have reservations but were able to take us - we just waited 15-30 mins plus we were staying at the hotel. The food was very delicious plus you get free entertainment. I order the seafood pasta because I love seafood. It was worth. The sauce is great and they cooked the pasta perfect. Hubby ordered the meatball with pasta. He ate is all. This was the first time I've visited Mama Della's located at Portofino Bay. The restaurant is a great location for anyone staying at the resort or you could take the water taxi from Citywalk. Be prepared to be immersed in Italy. Mama walks around to talk to the guest. There is live music. The restaurant is quite loud. From the other guest talking to the accordion player and singer. If anyone in your party has sensory issues, then I would avoid this restaurant. The food was fantastic. The service was great. I absolutely loved my appetizer and main course. This place simply blew us away. Located in the heart of Orlando's tourist town this restaurant somehow manages to make you feel like you're having dinner at your Italian mother's home. There's even an actress who portrays the role of MaMa herself who will visit your table for an interaction. But the atmosphere and hospitality were just the tip of the iceberg. We came to the Restaurant the weekend of 9/12/26. We have stayed in this hotel about 4 times, we had not been here in about 1 year. It seems that the restaurant changed the menu and the chefs in the last yea or something, the food tasted very generic, not with the unique flavor from before. The sourdough bread was compacted and doughy. The food came out super quick, it almost felt fast food. The chicken in the Alfredo was dry and unseasoned, the chicken had no flavor inside. The Alfredo sauce had good flavor. The meatballs in the spaghetti were bland and meat was too compacted and under seasoned . Marinara sauce tasted generic. The tomatoes on the caprese salad were too ripe, it had no basil leaves at all and needed more glaze. The mashed potatoes in the steak tasted like box mashed potatoes mixed with something else, it was uneatable. The steak and the cheese ravioli were ok. Steak was cooked at the requested temp. Some of our water glasses looked stained, not thoroughly cleaned. We had eaten 3 times in the past in the last 4 years at this restaurant- so this last time was pretty disappointing when we were expecting the same fine dining experience from past visits. My friends and I decided to try Mama Della's while visiting in Orlando. We had a reservation, and it took just a short time time to be seated. We were seated comfortably at a table towards the back of the restaurant. Lance, our server, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. It was chilly, so bring a sweater. It was a little loud, but we were able to hold a conversation at the time. The lighting was low, but sufficient for reading the menu. It added to the ambiance. We asked for bread which was filling and came with fresh garlic cloves in oil and chilled butter. There is a charge for the bread. The focaccia was delicious. We had a visit from Mama to check to make sure our needs were being met. We ordered appetizers first. My friend's daughter ordered the Calamari Fritti, which came with Marinara and Pesto Aioli. She said it was delicate and not rubbery. Another friend ordered the Caprese salad. She said that it was delicious, a sharable portion, but the burrata could have been a larger portion. We enjoyed the live entertainment. There were 3 gentleman singing Italian songs and taking requests, as they sang at different tables throughout the restaurant. That was my favorite part of the experience. Their voices were amazing. Marline bussed our table and was very friendly. It took over an hour to get our dinner served. Our food arrived barely warm, but we were so hungry at that point, we didn't complain. I ordered the Cheese Ravioli with Braised Beef Brisket Bolognese. It tasted ok, but I got 6 ravioli for $30. I did like that it was al dente. I was still a little hungry after that. My friend's daughter ordered the Chicken Parmesan. The chicken was not really breaded and tasted like boiled chicken with zero seasoning. She did not eat it. The pasta was lukewarm. Someone else ordered the Grilled Salmon with cannellini beans, baby spinach and tomato jam. She said the tomato jam was really good. Another friend ordered the Chef Leo's Gnocchi. She said that it was ok, but not hot. We finished with cappuccinos, which were tasty. Hands down, my favorite part was the cannoli. It was amazing. It was fresh with powered sugar and strawberries. It was delicious. Because our meal took so long, we were given a parking voucher, so we didn't have to pay for parking. We did appreciate that. It's been a while since I been to the Universal Studios area. We decided to do magical dining and made a reservation on a Tuesday night. We parked at the self parking garage in the Portofino Bay hotel and took an elevator to the lobby. We were directed downstairs and outside were the restaurant is. When we arrived to the restaurant, we were checked in and told to wait for a couple more minutes as it was a bit crowded. The restaurant also shared the space of Trattoria Del Porto. We were finally seated about 10 minutes later to a small table. We were immediately greeted by the hosts and given menus, including the magical dining one. For drinks, we took advantage of the 25 dollars wine paring special, which included 3oz each of Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Merlot. I tasted the Chardonnay and it was perfect for me. It wasn't too sweet, nor dry. I enjoyed it with the food we ordered. For appetizers, we tried the calamari and caprese. The calamari was fried nicely, having the right texture and not being rubbery. I was also impressed by the caprese, which had fresh tomatoes, greens, cheese, and even prosciutto. I think we enjoyed it because of the balsamic glaze that was drizzled over it. For our entree, we both had the salmon. It was grilled nicely, but I think it may have been farm raised as it only had a milder flavor than the wild ones. I also found the sauce with beans and spinach to be lacking flavor. The dish was still enjoyable, but it needed crushed peppers and tobasco sauce that I got to add the zing. I also ordered separately fettuccine alfredo with marinara sauce on the side (27 dollars) for my mom. She enjoyed it at home, and I tried it as well and liked it too. The noodles were firm without being too chewey, and the alfredo sauce was nice too. For dessert, I had the dulce de leches gelato. It had a bit too much air for me. While I did taste the dulce de leches, the gelato tasted more of shaved dairy with syrup. I do have to give kudos that the restaurant served generous portions of all the food, even for magical dining. The service was very hospitable. We had at least 3 people servicing us, including the big boss Mama herself! They also wiped the food off our tables and bagged the leftovers for us. They checked on us quite a bit on the food and if we needed anything else. The atmosphere is touristy casual, with a lot of tourists visiting. The highlight of the restaurant are the strolling singers. There was a guitarist and 2 singers playing opera songs to each table. They sung very well and were loud enough for other tables to listen and enjoy. Parking was validated and free if self parking. Valet parking was also available at the hotel entrance, but I think that cost extra. I will say Mama Della is an enjoyable restaurant for tourists in the Universal Studios area looking for decent Italian food in a fun atmosphere. The strolling singers are the main attraction here, but the food is still decent enough to enjoy. For magical dining, I would say it's a great deal. This was our first dinner of the trip and it was located in our resort. The service was exceptional! They even had a couple of singers who came and sang table side. It gave a really nice feel to the location. We were hungry so I'm pretty sure a cardboard box would have tasted good. The food was good but not great. Honestly it was a bit over the top. Loved this restaurant located at the Lowe's Portifino in Universal. The side to the right is a nice sit down atmosphere and singers with violin perform table-side once you've placed your order. My mom and I always come here for dinner when we're in Orlando. We like to take the free boat from City Walk to Portofino Bay (hotel where restaurant is located). I love the ambiance of the hotel and how lovely it is, both inside and outside. This time we found out Mama Della's was sort of sharing space with another restaurant- literally the hostess stand was cut in half with the other restaurant on the other side. A little strange, but not terrible. This time we were seated in the best seat in the house in my opinion- a booth in front of the fireplace that was all decked out for Christmas. We joked that our photo would be this year's Christmas card. We ordered the caprese salad as an appetizer and it was so good. So was the bread that came with it. For my entree, I got the gnocchi, which is made in house and that I absolutely adore. For dessert we got the gelato with all 4 flavors and it was amazing as well. I was in Orlando for a work conference at the Lowe's Portofino Bay resort and my family decided to come with me. We ended up trying Mama's out of convenience- it was late, we had traveled all day, and they had a reservation. The second time we went back, because we needed it again. The atmosphere is very Italian. It seems like there hasn't been a lot of updating done, but it also adds to the appeal. Nothing is dirty, just old (in a good way). The first night they also had live music. Three guys walked around to each table and sang a song for them. For us, they sang Spider-Man and my kids loved it. The server the first night was fantastic! He was funny, kind, and engaged with all of us. The second time we went, not the same level of engagement, but we never went without. We had what we needed or wanted in a timely manner. The real reason we went back - the food. Two of us got fettuccine Alfredo and devoured it. They said it was close to the best they've ever had (which, rude, because I make them Alfredo often lol), another one got spaghetti and meatballs, and the last got pizza, and a salmon with shrimp dish. This is our second time here. We were not impressed on the first time as everything felt very average for the price and the hype this place gets. Today, was about the same. My linguini with seafood was really good beside the clams not looking super fresh and the pieces of white fish in there looked like they were still frozen. But again, I would happily rate that a 8 out of 10. Then comes my wife's dish, which it was not good. Terrible sauce that didn't look too fresh. We also had my mother and daughter and they like their dishes (Alfredo sauce for my mom and pesto for my daughter, who complained that there was too much sauce and too little gnocchi). To recap, not a terrible place but far from all the hype it gets. The singers at the table are a very nice touch. Service is just ok, nothing great either, but is good. Magical Dining #4 at Mama Della's - Loew's Portofino at Universal. In full disclosure, we needed to pick our Halloween Horror Nights tickets before they closed on a Non-HHN night so I thought this would be a great option as we have been to the property and had the food of all of their restaurants during Harbor Nights events. Mama Della's had the best reviews and the only MD menus. Upon arrival, we had the choice of free self or $5 valet parking with validation. They have 4 restaurants there that validate and you can keep the car there as long as you wish (prior to midnight). We took the boat over to Universal and it dropped us off in front of the sports bar so you miss the security madness and the long walk from the $30 parking garage. And, it's super close to Universal Studios. The boats run very frequently. We didn't wait more than 5 minutes on each side. It was a great night for the ride! Upon return, we were quite early for our reservation but they gladly took us. It was quiet at that time as they just opened shortly before. We were greeted by lovely people and had a wonderful server, Youssef (that spoke Italian). Considering the portion sizes, we opted for one magical dining and I had an appetizer for dinner. We started with the complimentary breads and garlic olive oil. YUM. really great. We had the calamari for the app - delicious and a hefty portion with a vat of sauce. It wasn't anything like you can get elsewhere but very good. For the entrees, I had the mussels my husband had the gargantuan chicken parm accompanied with spaghetti and one broccoli spear. The mussels were outstanding (only 2 unopened) and a large portion as well. Dipping the breads in the buttery garlic sauce was divine. We still had leftover bread and several mussels and sauce to use for a later dish. The park was ok. Nothing special and a little dry - we have had this issue with chicken parm in the past. We did take the leftovers as we will still enjoy them later - it's at least 2 more meals. We will opt for another dish in the future. We each had Italian wines and they were excellent. During the meal we had the most wonderful singers come by to sing whatever we wanted. I contained myself with selecting something crazy like the Thong Song and opted for LOVE by Nat King Cole. They didn't know this one but figured it out very quickly. Super impressive! The live singers can get quite loud in there as it's a smaller place so I'd imagine that would affect people who would like to eat in a quieter environment. We loved it! For dessert, we had the Dulce De Leche gelato. We had this before and it was SO good. 2 full scoops was plenty to share. Overall a really nice experience and solid magical dining choice. I do wish they still had pizza on this menu. We plan to do this again each year when we pick up our tickets! When we received our car, the valet asked if we would like water or a coffee to go. They asked how it was and I said bland, then they shrugged and walked away, and this was "mama della" herself (supposedly). I told the waiter the same thing, no reply. If you take the boat to the Loew's Portofino Bay Hotel this place is located towards the right end of the middle part facing the water on the ground level. Entering, it really feels like you have been transported back to a small, old, Italian establishment leaving the chaos of Universal Studios behind you for a moment. Well, at least until you spot someone dining in logo wear... Service is great and the night I was there, they had entertainment going from table to table for singing and guitar. To start the PAN-STEAMED MUSSELS - Garlic, pancetta, pesto green sauce, chopped parsley, garlic crostini, were and ideal dish. The main of POLLO ALLA CARBONARA - Pan-seared chicken, spaghetti, pancetta, English peas, was a little disappointing on the chicken. It was too much of an add for the plate, and it was a little dry. It would have been nicer if it was integrated into the pasta in smaller pieces or available as an option for the meal as opposed to just coming with it. Visited a few months ago with my wife for a date night. Customer service is excellent, they all make you feel very welcomed. We ordered the charcuterie ahead of our meal and gave it a 10/10. My wife ordered the ravioli and I ordered the lasagna. I personally did not finish my meal, but all for good reason. The portions are very generous. I saw some good reviews for this restaurant, and we were tired of the food from city walk and decided to try a restaurant in the area. The positives - service was great, our waiter Mohamed was very kind. They did forget the peroni my husband ordered but that's ok we weren't in the mood to get a drink at the time having drank some wine in the afternoon prior to dinner. The bread was good - they give a rosemary sliced bread, some bread sticks and also bread that has fresh garlic inside. Along with that was some butter and for dipping, Roasted garlic in oil which was good. For appetizers we got Caesar salad (terrible, tasted like nothing but eating almost plain romaine lettuce) and calamari (which was very good until you got all the way to the bottom where the rest were in a bed of oil) The calamari portion was very large, and we were starting to get full as we had a couple of things to eat before dinner, so we decided to share a chicken carbonara pasta. Now let me just say this pasta was pretty terrible. The pictures looked really good so I was excited for it. They were very nice and split the meal in separate pasta bowls for us which was still a huge portion each ! The chicken was well cooked but the main part of the dish, the spaghetti had chunks of cheese. I did mention it to the waiter in which he mentioned that carbonara sauce is made of egg and cheese (which I already know) and I guess I should have said my issue with it was not the sauce itself it was the chunks of cheese- the sauce was not mixed well into an actual sauce and the chunks were intertwined with the spaghetti. He did offer to have it remade again but with less cheese, stating then it would not taste like carbonara explaining the base of the sauce-- so he didn't really understand where I was getting at. Our server Maria was extremely pleasant and attentive. We got calamari as appetizer and a 2-people chef's special seafood medley to share as entree. Horrible experience. We (party of 3 ppl) went there on January 2nd to celebrate birthday. As you know, 2 restaurants are operated from one kitchen. The restaurant was low on stuff and they were not able to accommodate us, even though they were at 30-40% capacity inside and 0 customers outside. My husband and I dined here during our stay at lowes sapphire Resort and it was a wonderful experience. Definitely made up for the poor resort experience. I ordered eggplant parmigiana and my husband ordered the chicken Parmesan. Both were really good and tasted nice and fresh. They are also very generous with the amount of cheese they put on top. I know it's silly to review the bread basket but the first bread basket was good and for some reason the second basket was completely different bread that was pretty much inedible. All in all we enjoyed the food and the service. They had a live singer at the restaurant who goes table to table. She starts up a conversation then offers to sing for you, so you're in for a treat. read more

Really enjoyed our dinner at Mama Dellas! I did feel badly for some other people with reservations. The hostess didn't seem to be in a good mood? There was an older couple who had a reservation the same time as ours. They were a little salty toward the hostess about not being seated early and she ended up seating them 20 minutes after us, though there were plenty of empty tables. For us, we had a lovely waiter and got serenaded by a guitarist and singer. The calamari was delicious, recommend that for an app. The marinara that comes with it is a bit different, it's spicy among other things. We weren't sure if it was our favorite at first, but it grew on us. Delicious. For entrees, we ordered the filet and chicken marsala (a special). Both were great. Would happily return next time we're in Orlando. read more
