Prato is such a comfort meal for me. The staff is always kind, the vibe of the space is cozy, and it's always a meal to look forward to. My go to drink is usually a white linen. However, for the sake of happy hour, I ordered the Cetriolo and my husband ordered a negroni bianco. The cetriolo was light, refreshing, heavy on the cucumber, and overall the perfect summer cocktail. And the negroni was smooth and sophisticated. As a starter, we ordered the meatballs (because you didn't go to prato if you didn't order them) and the Piccante Dolce to balance. The meatballs are always such a classic 10/10 you have to get them. The Piccante Dolce was light and very balanced. As our mains, I ordered the Duck and Foie Gras Mezzaluna (mind you i'm typically a mustard spaghetti girl) and was VERY surprised! It was a great portion, not too heavy, and absolutely delicious! My husband got the Chicken Saltimbocca and demolished the entire thing. It's safe to say he was a fan. Because it was my birthday, I was offered a free dessert from their menu. The Cheesecake with peach compote was incred. She wasn't too sweet and a great sized portion for 2 people. Our server, Alexandra, was the SWEETEST. She was so attentive and had such a great attitude. She offered to take pictures of us, and really made our day. As you walk in there's a large bar with a decent amount of seating, and to the right a mix of tables. Take on the limited outdoor seating at your own risk during Florida's storm season. A client from St Pete met me midway. I turned to yelp for a nice lunch venue. I had never experienced Winter Park and I found it lovely, Prato was a perfect place to meet. Joey was our server and he was great. My guest was not as adventurous as me, so he got the meatball app which I tried and was excellent. I had the carpaccio and crudo, both excellent. I had the local lager on tap. We each had a personal pizza, I got the spicy selection and it was spicy enough. I loved the petite red peppers on the pizza. What a great spot for a date night. My boyfriend and I made a weekend reservation and were seated right away when we arrived. The inside is decorated so cute with plants and gentle lighting. We got a booth near the bar area. I started off the evening with an espresso martini - and boy was it good! I would definitely recommend. For an appetizer we started with the Prato Meatballs. This order comes with 3 large meatballs that were juicy and flavorful. Let's get to the entrees. We ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese and the Beef Short Rib. The bolognese was hearty and so yummy. There was alot and plenty to also take home for the next day. The beef short rib was extremely tender and the potatos were fluffy. I think this was a solid dish. It was pretty busy for a Thursday--thanks to the gorgeous weather--but we were seated right away, even with the crowds. They offer both outdoor seating and bar seating, which adds to the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Our server was wonderful, taking the time to explain the menu and share some great recommendations. We started with the Burrata appetizer and holy cow... it was incredible. A huge, beautifully presented plate with super fresh lettuce, sliced pears, almonds, and the burrata split open and drizzled with prosecco. Hands down the best burrata I've ever had. This place is beautifully decorated. I love the dim lighting and neighborhood feel inside. I heard good things about this place and looked forward to trying it. Upon seating, I was given water and greeted with a menu. After asking the bartender what the most popular drink was, he suggested the Cetriolo, "for sure" which is a martini made of cucumber organic vodka, agave, lime, white cranberry, and topped with a basil garnish. They do change the menu, which is nice and today we normally get the escarole salad, but they have Caesar salad "the little gem". Both are perfect, I prefer the escarole to the gem as it has more of a vinaigrette flavored dressing compared to a creamier one. My husband is basic and ordered half cheese and half pepperoni pizza. The best Italian restaurant! We went during lunch since we weren't able to get a dinner rez for weeks. We got the chopped chicken salad and the Diavolo pizza to share, and I got the rigatoni to myself. The salad was amazing. I usually order salads when I just want to get some greens in me but this was an enjoyable salad with lots of greens, chicken and bits of bacon that pairs well with the slightly sweet raisins. My rigatoni was perfectly seasoned and the noodles were cooked al dente. I could tell they were made from scratch. The diavolo pizza was the reason why we came and unfortunately it just wasn't the best diavolo pizza I've had. It wasn't that flavorful and the bite was tough and lacked cheese pull. The service was amazing and we had our waters refilled constantly. They were attentive and quite funny. The ambiance is wonderfully decorated with a tavern-feel. Last night we visited Prato and my expectations were unfortunately not met. I want to start off with the atmosphere was very good and the staff were very friendly. It was a last-minute dinner reservation. We wanted something in the Winter Park area and Prato was the closest thing to a last minute table we can find. We had the meatballs to start and the octopus. The meatballs had a really good flavor and we're very filling. The octopus unfortunately came in a spicy sauce, one small potato, little chewy for my taste and the bacon, you can really taste the bacon grease. Wasn't my favorite octopus. Let's start with one of the most disappointing plates. They're Cacio e pepe. We were told that it's one of their most popular dishes. I posted two photos. One is of a real Cacio e Pepe from Italy and the other one is a made up version Pratos invented. Cacio e Pepe doesn't have sun-dried tomatoes or ham. It's a simple and most delicious plate with only two ingredients. That unfortunately was not served. It was honestly disappointing. That can pass more for carbonara. I'm not saying that they're trying to re-create the real dish. It was just quite disappointing, considering I was really looking forward to having Cacio E Pepe. We also had the spicy pizza. Could use a little more cheese on the pizza. Besides that the dough was perfect. Also a house Cab $31 dollar is ridiculous. You should have a house red or blend at a lot more reasonable price. It's house wine. The real star of the night was their homemade tiramisu. It was light and creamy in all the right ways. Will we return? Probably not. Have tried multiple menu items and love their calamari! This time around the husband enjoyed the chicken milanese panini which comes with a side salad. I had the mustard spaghettini yet again! It's said to be their "Cacío E Pepe" but it tastes more like a carbonara to me, either way it's delicious and you should give it a try! Got the $17 "regular" portion but didn't finish it. Great idea to get the tasting portion ($10) along with something else. No kids menu but they do offer a kid-friendly butter style pasta if you ask your server or a cheese or pepperoni pizza which is always our choice. It's just a couple of thoughts as a person who comes often. I hate where the host stand is. I'm busy nights. There's always a logjam there, which makes it uncomfortable when you're standing and trying to check in, but also uncomfortable when you're trying to leave. If you sit in that first table to the right, it's a horrible experience because people are trying to squeeze through the line and your table and the door is always open because there's not enough room for people to get inside and wait. Well, top 3 for sure, it's im-pasta-ble to choose just one ;) The whole place is a vibe, dark wood and mood lighting, floor to ceiling windows, no wonder this place is never empty. In increasingly measure, it's become my choice for a special date night or occasion. As another Yelp Elite reviewer wrote, "If I could give a 10 out of 5 (rating), I would." I agree. After years of frequenting, I've found that reservations are the best way to ensure a day and time when I can enjoy the splendid service and fabulous food with friends and family. The restaurant is regularly packed even though ample seating is located both inside and outside. The bar "island" is the place to go between lunch and dinner. Drinks and a truncated food menu are available while table service is not. One of my food favorites is the pizza, baked in an oven visible from almost anywhere in the place and worth the wait. Diavolo and Funghi (vegetarian) regularly arrive at our table (or the bar in the tween time) and are always enjoyed. Should one not meet the restaurant's standards, we have found they will remake it and the server or manager will apologize for the delay. I've enjoyed fish ceviche, gnocchi, seasonal soups, paninis, and the Angus Beef Burger (yum), to name a few starters and main entrees. The adult beverages range from aperitif, to beers on tap and in bottles, to cocktails. Non-alcoholic drinks are also available. My wife and I have experienced top-notch service that balances between hovering and ignoring. We have always enjoyed our servers' recommendations and engagement. I'm genuinely surprised I haven't written a review yet for Prato - or has it just been that long since I wrote it?! Either if this is an update or new, I must share that I love coming here. I genuinely enjoy anything I order, whether it's a go-to meatballs and diavolo pizza order or a night that calls for the seasonal ravioli and the seasonal pizza. I feel like it's actually a good value even if the prices seem like their "winter park prices". The pizzas are large enough to split and a whole pizza and an appetizer goes far with my husband and me. An honorable mention to everyone's favorite pasta, the mustard spaghettini. I crave this sometimes. It's sooo yummy. I have also enjoyed some of their lunch sandwiches. I just haven't met a dish here that I didn't enjoy! I will say the hostess stand tend to kind of write off any questions you may have or didn't really want to answer anything so that turned me off a bit...
