Dad and I were after BBQ on a Sunday afternoon and after scoping out our usual places, we decided to finally give ole Dunc's a try...and we are glad we did! The space is small but well laid out with booths lining both sides of the restaurant and then tables in the center. Standard condiments, sauces and paper towels sit on each table. Service was quick and friendly. Hostess directed us to sit wherever, and a server quickly followed. The server was friendly, efficient and helpful from start to finish. We were after some good food, so for lunch my dad went with the classic pulled pork sandwich with a side of slaw. The sandwich was loaded with meat, enough for him to essentially have it served two ways and enjoy a bit with a fork before diving into the sandwich. Coleslaw was standard, but hard to do much with a classic coleslaw. I went with the smoked turkey platter sided with Brunswick stew, fried okra, hushpuppies and added a sausage link. The turkey was smoked well, retained a good bit of moisture and paired with the Alabama white sauce, was delightful! The sausage was the most surprising part of the meal, it was good size, had a great snap, was juicy and overall, was the best bite on my plate. The sides were good. Brunswick stew was fairly standard, and the okra was well fried and tasty. Overall, very impressed with Dunc's, while it is not the best BBQ you will find, I am the first to admit that everything we had was a bit better than we honestly anticipated and was way larger in portions to boot.
