This hit the spot! Stopped for a quick lunch and craving bbq. Pulled pork sandwich was excellent with soft, clean pulls of pork cooked perfectly along with your choice of four sauces. Fries were big, crispy and oh so soft in the middle. Coleslaw was a little heavy on the mayonnaise for my taste but not bad. The Oink Joint sits on E. Washington street in downtown Newnan and is tucked away and under Goldens on the Square. The décor is simple but on brand, with lots of wood, dark colors, brick and country-style art. The menu is good sized and cohesive, filled with all the BBQ classics. While the food might not be "spectacular," it's definitely tasty and hits the spot for a small-town BBQ joint. I'm a fan of the brisket, sausage, and of course, the Brunswick stew. I tend to go with the shredded or pulled meats because the sliced meats tend to be on the dryer side. The restaurant also has a bar, so if you're in the mood for a cold beer or a cocktail to wash down all that BBQ, they got you covered. Service is friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall charm. Prices are pretty good for a local spot. You can order everything a la carte or do a combination plate/platter. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's all street parking around the square, but there are a few lots nearby if you're unable to find one curbside. Met a coworker here for lunch. It was tasty. I had the pulled pork. It's sort of like a fast food restaurant with counter ordering. Sauce came in small containers instead of bottles. Just know what you are getting and you should be fine. It's good, not amazing. read more

This was a To-Go Order for Allen. Saturday 12.27.25 @3:22:57 according to the receipt. We've eaten here before and the food as great but NOT today. Half slab of ribs was over cooked, baked beans had extra spice not normal for this restaurant, potato salad ordered and paid for but was not in the bag and both macaroni and cheese dishes were very bad. Overall I was not impressed with the food items here, I do enjoy the wood floors and old brick walls but as far as brisket and such it is not that good, I ordered sliced brisket that came out more like steak nuggets, overall it was pretty dry but the seasoning salt sprinkled on top was nice, the greens were bland also, sauce was good and service was good, the beans were good, the sausage tasted more like a hotdog that had been smoked, the Brunswick stew was the highlight of this meal. I will say this though, it is hard for me to dish out that everything was bad whenever my usual spot to go has won best bbq in the state a few times in recent years. My wife and I went to Oink Joint last night and ordered two individual meals....Pulled Pork Nachos and one Brisket Taco. After ordering, we came to find out that nearly the entire restaurant - which was pretty full - had been waiting an extended period of time. We placed our order at 7:25 which got delivered to our table at 8:30. There were people who had pre-ordered for 7:00 pick-up who didn't get their ordered until 8:15 or later. The dining room was a mess the entire time. To add icing to the top of that crappy cake, there was grease tailed across the street on the way to our car, and my wife slipped and fell. If you're the owner, you'd better start paying attention. This is crossed off our list for a good while. I got the BBQ Burrito. I was upset at the price at first (without a side option) but then when I saw the portion and tasted how good it was, I was pleasantly surprised! You literally can't see the noodles and its form is shaped to the container and it was not smooth or creamy, literally chunky. At first, I thought that I could not possibly eat all this food but...such yumminess cannot go to waste! I even ate my Texas toast because I had to sop up all that great collard pot liquor! I also had the hot sauce which was most excellent- not too hot, just right. My friend had the pork with Brunswick stew and potato salad but my sides were tastier! We each had a pint of beer and decided that we should have ordered two piece because we didn't want to go back and wait in line. So make sure you get two bottles of beer or two pints when placing your order because this place is always busy with folks waiting in line for the great BBQ they serve. They had street tacos, sandwiches and lots of sides so nobody in your party should go away hungry! They also have beer, wine, tea, water and sodas. I had a friend visiting me from Pennsylvania and we went to this place. I had never been there either, so I wasn't familiar with any other bbq places in the area and bbq was what we wanted to eat. We walked in, placed our order and had a seat. We were greeted courteously at the counter. As we seated ourselves, I didn't notice anything particularly outrageous. Cool little local BBQ spot in Newnan, GA. Came here with some coworkers for lunch. You order at the counter, grabs number, eat yourself, wait for your food and eat then leave. I bought the chicken platter with collards and Mac n cheese. The food was pretty good. From 1-10 a solid 7. Also purchased the banana pudding which tasted like grandma put her foot in it, yum. If I'm in the area again I will definitely go back. I don't eat red meat but my coworkers said the brisket and pork was very tender and delicious with the bbq sauce. Try it!!! read more

Decided to stop here as the people we were traveling with said it was pretty good. Ordered 2 full slabs and 2 lbs of brisket with a few sides for a table of 8. The ribs were surprisingly good, and tender enough to fall off the bone. Seasoning of the ribs was really good as well. Tater tots and fries were crisp and hot, would certainly order them again. The mac and cheese we would probably pass on. The brisket was not as moist and tender as we would have liked, and it really needed the bbq sauce to help the dry taste get to "average". Don't know if we would go out of our way again for this place in downtown Newnan unless we knew for sure the food would better. read more

From outside great smell. Inside a little disappointing. Both ordered a lunch brisket sandwich. Opinion, so-so. Brisket, even adding sauce was dry and a little tough. Expect brisket to be much more moist. One of us ordered a side of tater tots. Nice sized portion,but that is probably because they had overcooked a batch and the were just sitting. Had to get rid of them. End result, arrived cold. Service at register was very good. Dining room appearance needed a lot of work. Tables were dirty as well as the floors. Drink station needed attention. Didn't seem for lack of staff. Since at least one of them just seemed to be standing around. Like barbecue so will probably give the another chance. We don't live in town but family does and we come here every time we visit Newnan! My husband loves the brisket and we both love the brisket tots. I've had the chicken when it was catered as well and it was delicious. The service is always so friendly and the place is clean. Locals recommended this place. Well let's just say the only thing on my plate that had any flavor was the 2 pickles. The brisket was bland, no seasoning or smoke flavor, the ribs tasted as if they were baked in an oven, the greens had absolutely no TASTE and the coleslaw was drenched in mayonnaise. Salt,pepper, pepper sauce, and bbq sauce didn't help much. Oh and they are overpriced, and no AC in the dining area. I will not try again. Waste of money, time, and energy. read more

I had been craving ribs for weeks - passing through Newnan headed to the deer camp and stopped in for 1/2 rack to-go. Ordered with the host and used the restroom -- needs some TLC in there. Paper towels were sitting on the sink and not placed in the dispenser.. and the sink will splash all over you and make ya look like you have bad aim. Ribs were outstanding, though I feel like they were out of the oven. Sauce and seasoning was on point. Didn't get any sides but the portion was just right and filled me up. As a KCBS master judge and grand champion winner of many bbq contests I love to stop at new bbq places and check them out. Wish I kept driving passed this one. Got the pork plate and the pork was so mushy just put it on the roof of your mouth and it desolves with NO taste whatsoever. The sides I had were baked beans and Brunswick Stew. Although better then the actual bbq and was just ok. Almost 17.00 I expect a whole lot more out of it then I got. It is a order/pay up front then sit down and wait. Ambiance was ok, it was somewhat crowded but I think most people are here from out of town like myself as Newnan is a small tourist type town and being Halloween as well. This place has some very good, very cheesy Mac n cheese and the BBQ was pretty good too. I tried all three of the sauces and the vinegar one was the best in my opinion but they all tasted very similar and the hot one was not spicy at all. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich was good but it sort of needed a good sauce to carry it as far as flavor goes.
