We stopped in around 3:30 PM, and the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. Our entire party ordered brisket in different forms--two brisket plates, one brisket sandwich, and 1 lb of brisket. Unfortunately, the brisket was the biggest disappointment. It was supposed to be sliced on two orders, but every order looked more like chopped brisket than properly sliced. Coming from California, brisket is something we order regularly, so we were surprised by the quality. It was very dry, not served hot, and honestly the worst brisket we've had. We were really looking forward to it, but it missed the mark. The sides were a mixed bag. The baked beans were actually very good, according to those in our group, and the fries were fresh, hot, and crispy. The mac and cheese was just okay. One bright spot was the young woman working the counter. She was friendly, welcoming, and provided great customer service, which we really appreciated. I will say this though, it is hard for me to dish out that everything was bad whenever my usual spot to go has won best bbq in the state a few times in recent years. I bought the chicken platter with collards and Mac n cheese. The food was pretty good. From 1-10 a solid 7. Also purchased the banana pudding which tasted like grandma put her foot in it, yum. Decided to stop here as the people we were traveling with said it was pretty good. Ordered 2 full slabs and 2 lbs of brisket with a few sides for a table of 8. The ribs were surprisingly good, and tender enough to fall off the bone. Seasoning of the ribs was really good as well. Tater tots and fries were crisp and hot, would certainly order them again. The mac and cheese we would probably pass on. The brisket was not as moist and tender as we would have liked, and it really needed the bbq sauce to help the dry taste get to "average". The brisket was bland, no seasoning or smoke flavor, the ribs tasted as if they were baked in an oven, the greens had absolutely no TASTE and the coleslaw was drenched in mayonnaise. I had been craving ribs for weeks - passing through Newnan headed to the deer camp and stopped in for 1/2 rack to-go. Ordered with the host and used the restroom -- needs some TLC in there. Paper towels were sitting on the sink and not placed in the dispenser.. and the sink will splash all over you and make ya look like you have bad aim. Although better then the actual bbq and was just ok. Almost 17.00 I expect a whole lot more out of it then I got. It is a order/pay up front then sit down and wait.
