Back again after a long hiatus! Love Muriale's ever since my first visit as a 20 something!…read moreStopped by on a drive from Pittsburgh with my sister on our way back to Charlotte and Greenville, SC. I talked into the meatball hoagie with a house salad with the house dressing. Can't wait to eat.... The house salad and Italian bread with soft butter were outstanding. By the number of ingredients, that salad was made with a lot of love. Waiting on the meatball hoagie.... The mixed peppers on the meatball with a large mound of melted mozzarella cheese. The sandwich was large enough that it was a struggle to get my mouth around it to take a bite and that's a good thing! The meatballs and red sauce were as good as ever. My sister had never been to Muriale's so she became an instant fan. After 8 years away this meal was great. Don't ever change and keep it classy. Thank you!

As we're temporarily home bound, a friend brought us delicious takeout from Muriale's. We shared two somewhat-similar and tasty entrees, (1) Eggplant Parmesan ($21) featuring lightly breaded and fried eggplant, fresh mozzarella, ricotta, house-made marinara sauce and (2) Veal Parmesan ($24), with lighted breaded and fried veal, fresh mozzarella, and house-made meat sauce. Both entrees were served with a side of spaghetti and tomato-based sauce, house salad, and garlic toast. Note that the house salad was excellent, consisting of fresh greens, onions, cheese, olives, tomatoes, pepperoni, and roasted red peppers. We chose the balsamic vinaigrette as our dressing. (Side salads in the Fairmont/Clarksburg area are often only iceberg lettuce and a shaving or two of carrots). Our initial thought was that the prices were a bit on the higher side. However, in seeing the high quality of the food, the generous portions, and the "extras" that were included (salad, garlic toast, etc.), we feel that it was a good value.

We visited Nonno Carlo tonight (4/24) with a group of six, and WOW - what an absolute gem!…read more Every single thing we ordered was incredible. The two wood-fired pizzas were perfection - crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. We also shared the meatball hoagie, meatballs with ricotta, antipasto salad, caprese salad, cucumber-tomato salad, Italian chicken salad sandwich, and the Italiano... and then there was the porchetta sandwich - hands down my new favorite sandwich in the universe. I'm still thinking about it. As if that wasn't enough, we finished with imported gelato (strawberry and caramel), and it was the perfect sweet ending. Beyond the amazing food, the two young ladies working the front were so kind, welcoming, and helpful - it really made the whole experience even better. Do yourself a favor and don't sleep on this amazing little market & café. We will 100% be back!

The group was mostly Italian-Americans, and Italian food is their "go-to" comfort food, especially during such a stressful period. Nonno Carlo, while a bit on the pricey side, did not disappoint with its high quality, abundant, and authentic Italian food. We also appreciated that its location was only about a 5-minute drive from the hospital. Food. (4.5/5). We ordered and shared: (1) The Ellis Island ($15.25), which is described by the restaurant as an Italian American classic sub that is a "sandwich so big you got to take a boat to get there!)" It features herbed aioli, provolone cheese, hot ham, pepperoni, vinegar peppers and onions, lettuce, tomato, and balsamic, piled high on a Mancini's hoagie roll. It was served with potato chips. (2) an Italiano sub ($15.50), which features mortadella, salami, soppressata, capocollo, provolone, and Calabrian pepper spread, served on focaccia. (3) an appetizer, Meatballs and Ricotta ($8.95). This was a favorite, with three DeMedici meatballs served over house-made ricotta. It was served with homemade bread, which was perfect for dipping. (4) Caprese Salad ($3) -- cherry tomatoes, house-made mozzarella, and basil, finished with extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper. (5) Cucumber-Tomato Salad ($2), with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, and basil, finished with extra virgin olive oil and vinegar. (6) Dessert: 2 for $7 cannoli. (You could also order a single cannoli for $4). My rating is 4-stars rather than 5-stars for two small reasons -- (1) the subs were somewhat soggy by the time they reached us, from the vinegar/spreads on them, and (2) both salads were sour given the ratio of vinegar to olive oil in the dressings. I can't speak to ambiance or service, as this was take-out and someone else picked it up. I would eat in or order from here again.

I really enjoy that the pasta is fresh and the menu isn't 40 pages long. It's straight to the point and you know what you're getting based on what is listed under the pasta shape. My short rib ricotta gnocchi was good but I do wish it had a bit more salt to bring more of the flavor to the front. The gnocchi texture was perfect and pillowy. The short rib mixed in nicely with all of the pasta and the sauce. My spouse enjoyed the cannelloni, which was pretty much their lasagna but also wanted a bit more salt. Our server was very nice and walked us through the menu options as well as told us about the seafood special for the night. The bread came out first and was delicious. The salad was also good and I don't usually like arugula. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and I enjoy that they take the time to do that. The space is very cute and you can't really miss it even with it being in an executive building. It's a smaller area but it can seat a good amount of people. We noticed they had a pasta making class so maybe next time we're in town, we can do it. The red sangria had a great balance where it wasn't too sweet. We didn't do dessert but we did enjoy the digestif at the end with limoncello and my spouse ate the amaretti cookies as I couldn't.

The pasta shapes are unlike anything else you'll find in Western PA. They even offer complimentary limoncello and Amaretti cookies to end your meal, which is a really nice touch. They have family style options for groups who want to try a variety of dishes, but the menu is just as fitting for a date night. Bonus: the leftovers taste just as good the next day! The space can get a bit loud with high ceilings and a full house, but the lively energy reflects how much people are enjoying the experience. Service was friendly and helpful with suggestions. The owner even stopped by tables to check on guests. It's tucked inside an industrial park and may be a little tricky to find if you're unfamiliar with the area, but GPS and signage get you there without much trouble. Definitely worth the visit!

The salad was just way too much shredded lettuce and we weren't asked what kind of dressing we wanted, the waitress just brought some vinaigrette. The waitress kept telling us she had heart issues and that's why she's slow. Then she disappeared for awhile and when she reappeared, she told us she passed out in the kitchen. We got a cheese pizza, an Italian sausage hoagie with peppers, and fettuccini alfredo. The cheese pizza had almost no sauce and tasted like the Italian seasoning they sprinkled all over it and nothing else. The Italian sausage hoagie was a joke. Little tasteless gray balls of sausage and it was so sweet it tasted like they just poured sugar all over it instead of Parmesan. My kid liked the alfredo, but I didn't like the price for how much he got. Then at the end the waitress charged us for stuff we didn't order and the check just has numbers on it so without the menu in front of you it's hard to figure out where the error occurred. We were disappointed after a few locals said this place was good. **update: checked my checking account and discovered the waitress added a $15 tip on top of the incorrect charge without authorization. Contacted bank to dispute the charges

Shortly after our waitress stopped by for drink orders and another large group of women were seated right next to us. We could barely hear each other. The entire rest of the room was empty! But they got seated less than 2 feet away. I know they were having a good time, us, not so much. Hostess tip: in this type of instance don't stack people on top of each other. There was plenty of space to spread us out. We ordered appetizers and dinners. appetizers were delicious: peel n eat shrimp, spinach artichoke dip and calamari (my grandson wanted it!) Dinners ordered: Beef Wellington, salmon (ordered blackened), Cajun chicken Alfredo, child's beef tips and chicken basket. All the dinners were great, as well as the asparagus, BUT, the salads greens were brown. I even pointed it out to the waitress, but they didn't seem very concerned. I even thought they might offer a small discount, it was that bad. For the five dinner with tip was over $225. You certainly can eat for less, beef Wellington alone was $50. All in all, beautiful setting, cozy dining room. Friendly staff. We will go back sometime.
