There are lots of great things about this restaurant and just a few issues. We were a group of five, 3 adults, 2 preteens. We were welcomed nicely, lead to a fairly quiet round table. Shortly after our waitress stopped by for drink orders and another large group of women were seated right next to us. We could barely hear each other. The entire rest of the room was empty! But they got seated less than 2 feet away. I know they were having a good time, us, not so much. Hostess tip: in this type of instance don't stack people on top of each other. There was plenty of space to spread us out. We ordered appetizers and dinners. appetizers were delicious: peel n eat shrimp, spinach artichoke dip and calamari (my grandson wanted it!) Dinners ordered: Beef Wellington, salmon (ordered blackened), Cajun chicken Alfredo, child's beef tips and chicken basket. All the dinners were great, as well as the asparagus, BUT, the salads greens were brown. I even pointed it out to the waitress, but they didn't seem very concerned. I even thought they might offer a small discount, it was that bad. For the five dinner with tip was over $225. You certainly can eat for less, beef Wellington alone was $50. Coming from out of town we had the highest expectations for the location after reading countless great reviews. Unfortunately, we cannot say that same for our experience today. The table next to us arrived after us to be served their food first. After over 50 minutes of placing my order i decided to ask what the status of the order was. To then be told it had only been 45 minutes since the ticket had been placed with no apology provided. Following another 15 minute wait we proceeded to receive our food... The steak I ordered arrived well done when I ordered medium with the Mac & cheese being made with penne? I let the server know the steak was not cooked to the temp requested to be told it would be all of 5-10 minutes for a remake. After hesitatingly agreeing to wait even longer for a remake the who I assume is the manager brings out a rare cold center steak. Great fried green tomatoes, not beef Wellington it is grilled steak covered with pastry unseasoned, not a great sauce to go with it (Typically served with wine reduction sauce was watered down beef gravy). Tony and I went to both the Cheat Lake and Sunset Beach Marinas to check them out. We always enjoy sitting outside near the water for a meal and drinks when given the chance. We went to Lake House Restaurant at Sunset Beach Marina on Cheat Lake. It was very lovely. Very large parking lot! We were greeted and seated immediately on the deck. We opted to sit in the screened in area. Tony ordered a Bud Lite Draft and I went with Unsweetened Tea With lemon and lime. They had in the raw sweetener, which I love. Tony went for the Maryland Crabcake Sandwich with Beer Battered Fries and I had the Cod Sandwich with French Onion Soup. Everything was delicious!! We shared of course, and I'm so glad we did!! The main attraction to The Lakehouse is Cheat Lake and the fact that right there on the banks of the lake sits The Lakehouse. The waterfront view and lakeside ambiance can't be beaten. As for food, they have a good menu but to me, the taste and overall good preparation were lacking. I had their Cedar Plank Salmon which came with a brown sugar glaze. Out for our anniversary didn't go as planned. I guess we should have made reservations. We arrived around 5:30 or so and it didn't look busy at all with tables inside still empty but was told they only had the heated deck open. We agreed and the hostess lead us to the outside passing empty tables on the way to an empty outdoor setting area with no lights and the heat was minimal. Halfway through our meal it was dark and could barely see our food on our plate I had to use my phone flashlight propped up on my tea so we could eat. About a minute later or so a staff member finally turned on the lights and continued to apologies for our experience. The lobster and steak was good well seasoned and done to our expectations. However our food cooled off fast and the wife had to leave her coat on through dinner from being sat outside. When we was leaving there still was empty tables so we really didn't understand why we had to sit outside and when clearly there was open tables inside. Next time after driving an hr and fifteen minutes for dinner I'll be sure to make reservations for an inside table. My recommendation is if they tell you all they have left is outside on the heated deck is to leave or wait for an empty table to become more open. read more

Just your classic marina: overpriced and average food. Atmosphere was good and fitting for the location. We started with an oyster special for the day. They were the best part of the meal. We got a NY strip with mashed potatoes and ribs with fresh cut french fries. The steak was underwhelming and overcooked. Mashed potatoes taste like instant mashed potatoes with heavy cream and lots of butter. The ribs were also overcooked. They took "fall off the bone" as literally fall off the bone as the meat has no texture. They then decided to drown them in a tub of sauce to cover up the flavor of ribs or lack therof. The "fresh" cut fries were mushy and probably not fresh cut. To top it off the signature cocktail was mediocre. Was there even alcohol in it? We didn't get a second round to find out. I'll give it 3 stars for the view, the atmosphere, and the oysters. read more

We ordered the fried calamari (good but nothing to write home about), the stuffed mushrooms (also good), the shrimp cocktail (basic, served in a plastic bowl but they were tasty), and the mussels in the wine garlic sauce (best item, generous portion and delicious). The restaurant itself is not upscale, casual but cozy. The outdoor patio was closed becauseit was cold, but the view was a bit "busy" anyway with boats, not an open view of the lake. Ordered surf and turf off of their "special NYE" menu and the price jumps to $120. If you call them out on their Facebook page about this, they will delete your comment and block you. If you're going to overcharge people and trick them into thinking they're getting something "special", at least make sure your kitchen staff knows how to cook a steak and lobster tail. read more
