Meh. Atmosphere - desire to relive 50's carhop burgers and fries and staff give it 2 of the stars. Food is better than the fast food chains by far. Honestly not sure why I keep coming back here. Every time I get more and more disappointed. My crispy chicken sandwich was horrid. The chicken was not crispy and the bread was not toasted as requested. The pickles were practically translucent and tasteless. Ketchup was bland and fries were room temp. My ginger ale was very bland. Not enough ginger per ale ratio. One person in my party stated that the onions on her cheeseburger were very stringy. Also this place is very overpriced. This place is either a hit or miss, sometimes you'll receive an outstanding meal, and other times you'll pay for a burnt burger, or extremely short fries. The service is definitely lazy, as you use a pager to know when your order is ready, but otherwise, the staff is kind and tip worthy. Like I said, it's definitely a hit or miss, 5 out of the 11 or 12 times i've been here i've had a bad meal, which isn't as bad as other restaurants.. but could obviously be better. The same thing goes for how long you wait for your food, a hit or miss. You can either wait 30-40 minutes for your food, or you can wait 15. Which in my opinion, is a large gap that should be fixed or atleast noticed among the staff. I called ahead and ordered 2 G Burgers and a large fry to go for me and my hubby. We live close by. They have an order window and a pick-up window. there is someone in front of me and I waited a little bit more than five minutes for our food. I always order the fries with no salt, this way you know they are fresh and we avoid salt. The G burgers are very delicious with ooey gooey orange cheddar. The list of free toppings is awesome! Not the easiest place to find. You need to look for the Carvel on the corner of a busy intersection. Had the g burger. It was cooked perfectly and was a tasty treat. G's Burgers opened up about a year ago, and since then they've been jammed any time we go. They use fresh ground beef - no frozen crap - and customize your burger the way you want it. Lots of choices here -- fresh or grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, green peppers, etc etc. Every time we go the burgers are good (never tried anything else, even though they have the usual alternatives: hot dogs, chicken sammy, etc). The double cheeseburger w/bacon is a great way to harden a few arteries. If that's not enough though, their fries are fantastic. Fried to a nice crisp golden brown without being overcooked, but enough crunchy ones to feed that urge. They hold their form well - these are not your usual limp fries. Definitely worth it. The people working there are always friendly. And hey, if you have any appetite left once you're done with your burger, you can walk the 8 feet across the restaurant to Carvel and get yourself some ice cream. If that's too much effort, you may want lay off the burgers for awhile. read more

Joint # 60: G's BURGERS, Watertown, CT. G's Burgers of Watertown is a joint that is housed in a building that also adjoins Carvel Ice Cream. Man, now that's a combo if we ever saw one! G's came about in 2008 when owner George wanted to expand his current ice cream shop building to include a restaurant that would make all items fresh and served fast. He also held a contest to name the restaurant. G's (named after George) was chosen. The joint has a sort of 50's diner throwback feel, is nicely decorated and is not overdone. RATINGS:... John: 8.5/10, Me: 8.5/10. My son said, "I just had my second hot dog with The Dawg Tour!" John said, "Again, mustard, onion sauce. This was a footlong dog. Flat-top griddle, Hummel Bros. The chili had some good spice to it, good flavor overall. Onion & spicy mustard was layed out nicely. Bun was toasted, split-top bun. We also added some hot relish on half of it because we had to try the hot relish to get a little more 'kick'. So, what I'm going to give to this place...I'm giving it a J. Diggity Dawg 8.5! G's Burgers is somewhat similar to Mooyah and Five Guys, but G's have combo meals unlike the former and latter. We prefer G's over the other two as their burgers are pretty juicy and cooked to our liking. The fries are okay, sometimes they are a bit overcooked (when pieces have the dark orange streaks on them) or sometimes the fries consists mostly of the "outer" pieces of the potato. Never had any of the other menu items, but have always wanted to try their Philly cheese steak. The decor is pretty sweet and has a nice retro feel. There is not a lot of seating (especially during the colder months), and the booths sometimes feel very cramped when all are taken (the booth seating and tables are moveable). Outdoor seating is available during the summer months. As like the other reviews, Carvel's is adjacent to G's Burgers for those who want dessert with their burgers as well. The prices are reasonable and is about the same as Mooyah and Five Guys. Helpful tip: when you check in with Yelp, or if you go on their website to print it out, use the $1 off for any combo meal. Yeah it's just a buck, but if you are ordering two or more combo meals, you can separate the orders and use the coupon each time. read more

And connected to Carvel, how could you go wrong? The people who work at G's are super friendly and the food is always good-tasting. I don't think I've ever been to G's and been disappointed. Their grilled chicken sandwhich and the chicken fingers are really great. But you definitely need to try one of their mouth watering burgers. Paired with a Dairy Queen or Carvel, G's burgers offers something better than a McD's or Wendy's but not quite a Plan B or Shake Shack. I use to consider G's as a competitor for 5 guys, but on my trip there yesterday something had changed in their burgers. It was pressed flat, lacked much taste and must be prepared very different than they use to. For the price I paid, the meal was very plain and competes more with a fast food burger than 5 guys. I have been here a few times since it's close by in my work area. My review Is mostly about food, since I feel the service is good. I have had the burger combo with soda and for the price I feel It's on the Hi side for the taste. Stopped here a while back for lunch. I liked the fries but the burger was just ok. I'd rather go to Burger King, or Frankies for that matter to me those are places that you kind of know what your getting taste wise.
