This place is my jam! I love the chewy texture of the pizza here. Pro tip: always get two slices! It's what they do around here. Don't worry, it's super affordable. Four bucks for two slices. There is plenty of seating in the back and video games for the kiddos. There are even a few long tables in case you wanted to have a full on pizza party. The room itself is dimly lit and slightly, let's say worn, but I don't mind. The pizza is fantastic and they people are usually very nice. I've never felt that it was dirty. That would be gross. No, mama Mia's is well loved. Local students should consider this another place to study. Just pop in your earbuds and work away. However, the downside is that there is no internet here. Other than that, there aren't a lot of distractions. The radio is constantly playing hence the need for earbuds. Whenever I come to Watsonville I try to get over to this pizza place. My family went here for my Dad's birthday. First thing, they just do not Bud light from an IPA. My boyfriend ordered an IPA and got something else. Not sure what it was. His next order was a Firestone, again not what he received. The minestrone soup was just a tomato vegetable soup, nothing Italian about it. The rib eye steak was tuff and dry. Mom and Dad said the Osso Buco was just ok, and my Pialla was move like jambalaya, SPICY. The dessert is what gives them an extra half star. The cannoli was ok, a lot of shell not a lot of filling, but good flavor. The atmosphere was quite and nice to a good conversation. Service was fine, attentive. And expensive for what you get. I give them props for their renovations that have really brought some life to the place, but I've had the same waitress the last two times I've been there and she's dreadful. I came here with my family a few days ago for dinner and loved it! The waiter was extremely nice and would come back to check on us and see if we needed anything else. We ordered an appetizer to start, the Mediterranean Maza with pita bread. It was delicious! They also brought us bread and olive oil. My mom got a long island iced tea as a drink, and she enjoyed it. There wasn't a drink menu, but it was nice that they said they could make us almost anything we wanted. For dinner, I got the lamb kabob with rice. It was cooked perfectly. We were ready to leave but then the water brought a tray showing all the desserts they had, and of course we had to have some chocolate cake before we left.. I'm glad that we did though. It was amazing. They had so many different desserts it was hard to choose which one to get. The only reason I'm taking a star away was because of the little flies/mosquitos that were there. There weren't that many (I only saw 1-2), but when our appetizer came, there was a little tiny fly on it. My parents couldn't see it, but I did. Overall, I would definitely come back! My wife and I went there for early lunch, actually before the restaurant was open. However the hostess let us in and tended to our needs quite well. We had a chicken parmesian dish and a pasta primavera (I know -- bery basic stuff), but it was quite tasty nonetheless. My boyfriend's parents were raving about how good this place's spumone was so we decided to stop in for lunch on the way back to the bay area. The place was empty, we were literally the first table there. Our service was however very attentive and friendly. The bread that comes out with the olive oil mixture was fresh warm and delicious! I loved the chunks of garlic in the oil dip. I ordered the caprice appetizer and it was decent. The fresh mozz was wonderful and cut in large portions. I do wish the tomatoes were roma and not your standard sandwich topper variety. My boyfriend had the Gilroy garlic gnocchi and it did not disappoint! The gnocchis were tender and delicious, smothered in a garlic cream sauce with spinach and sun dried tomatoes. His parents enjoyed a sausage sandwich and garlic fries. Damn those fries were tasty! It is nice that they designate the vegetarian options on the menu and are very flexible with changing items. We finally got to dessert and ordered the spumone! Now, I am by no means a spumone expert but this ice cream was decadent! It had black cherries, citrons, pistachios, and a delicious swirl of rum syrup. Was coming from San Fransisco and wanting some good garlic because we are in GIlroy couldn't really find a place on yelp and we found this place!! SO good! You start with bread and garlic and vinegar which was such a good start. Then on the menu they have a whole mini section with all garlic dishes!! Jackpot!!! (So what we were looking for!)So that's where I ordered! I got the calamari pasta with fresh bail and garlic slices and tomatoes! It was so good! The calamari was so tender and not chewy like most is. It really was fantastic, I also ordered a glass of wine that was a huge glass and generously filled for 6 dollars! Can't beat that!! My experience last weekend was terrible- first time ever at Mamma Mias. The waitress got my order wrong and when I said something about it, she gave me attitude and rolled her eyes at me. Made me feel embarrassed in front of my friends for HER mistake. Then, when we got the bill, she charged me for a completely different meal which was $2 more. Im only giving this place 2 stars for the fact that I've been here for an hour and half. My water still hasn't been filled or been offered to be filled. Also when our food that "just came out" got to us the sides were freezing cold. My child's pasta noodles were freezing cold as well but their room temperature pasta sauce was supposed to warm them. Best pizza in Gilroy! Sure that's not saying much but if you are willing to pick it up you'll get a better pizza than any of the local chains. Their entrees are above average if not overpriced. Service can be slow if the dining room is full and I've had a bordering on rude waiter more than once but I would recommend for a good meal. read more

This restaurant is VERY mediocre! I have dined in and enjoyed the experience of the friendly wait staff with my son, even though the just-ok food is overpriced. I just ordered take out for the 2nd time for my family, and for a 2nd time, I was quite disappointed. As mentioned, they have weeknight specials, i.e. a free bottle of wine with the order of 2 entrees. I reviewed the website and the "Weeknight Specials Rules and Exceptions" card posted on the front desk and found nothing saying that takeout didn't count for these. When I asked for my free bottle of wine, the server said "oh no - that's only for dine in customers." When I pointed out that there was nothing on their website or list of disclaimers about that, he said "oh, everyone just knows that that is the rule." Really? When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told that there wasn't anyone on duty that night. Yikes! The food is just OK, but our family is going back to Tasso's Old House for good now! read more

We came here for our rehearsal dinner for our wedding. Luis who helped me with the reservation and pre-ordering was very helpful. We just had pizza and salad but everything was good. Nice sized salad and good prices. All of my guests told me how great the pizza was - even said it was the best pizza they've had. We really liked the 5 Cheese pizza. Corkage fee was only $12 which is great because we have a large collection of Santa Clara Valley wines at home. They also have a pretty patio when the weather is nice. Not much too say about this dining experience. Style over substance is the best way to put. Why have white table clothes just to partially cover them with a black one. You're either a white table clothe establishment or your not. That should've been my first clue but we went forward anyway. For starters, the bruschetta was not good, bread was over cooked aka hard, too much garlic and no oil...I've had better at worse restaurants...My main course was stuffed rigatoni florentine. You could tell they didn't even bother cooking the pasta in salted water (that's a freaking basic things and they missed it). It was absolutely tasteless. I was told that's how it is and no one's ever complained before. My wife had the eggplant parmesan and it was quite good (1st positive). My waitress was not interested in waitressing...she spent too little time ensuring we had the basics like water and bread and more time chatting it up with her cohorts. I'll save her from embarrassment and won't tell you her name was Heather. The only positive was she asked if I wanted another dish (2nd and final positive comment) but I wasn't going to give them a second chance then and I certainly won't ever...we won't be back and I don't think you should either. read more

Friendly, accommodating staff, esp waitress and bus boy/water boy. Had the tortellini - EXCELLENT, in a tomato cream sauce. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the tortellini wasn't dry (I find alot of cheese stuffed pastas to be dry, bland). This was delicious. I put a little alfredo on the side..ate the entire, large serving. And by the way, the best alfredo that I have ever had...creamy, buttery, full of cheese. Amazing. I think they could retire on this alfredo recipe. BF had veal, didn't like it. Now, I don't like veal, but I tasted it and I liked it. So if you like veal, try it. Serve warm bread with oil and balsamic. This place was a find! And the prices were in line. Entrees run about $12-20. I would stop in Gilroy for this place again in a heartbeat. read more
