We were staying in the area for the weekend and decided to try this place out based on the reviews and we were not disappointed.. well, my husband was with his steak but for me, my meal was absolute perfection! We got seated outside and immediately got the bread with garlic and olive oil. It was delicious! We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and the portion was decent. The sauces were both spicy which we loved! If you're not a spicy person, may not enjoy them. The calamari had an even ratio of rings and tentacles. The breading was light and the calamari tasted delicious and fresh. I decided to go with the Fettuccine al Pescatore and I was blown away by everything about this dish. The pasta was delicious and a very generous portion. The sauce was amazing with a spicy kick. The seafood was a generous amount and tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. As I was enjoying this meal, I looked to my husband and said "this is one of the best meals I've ever had!" My husband got the ribeye steak and it was over cooked. He didn't enjoy it and complained quite a bit as he ate it. I told him to send it back but he just ate it. It took a while to get the server to come back to give us the check. We had to chase him inside the restaurant to pay. Ambiance is very laid back. Small indoor seating space but felt stuffy. Outside seating space with heaters. Food was good, not great. Ordered the special which was a New York steak over penne pasta, and the steak was overcooked, when I asked for medium rare, I got medium well. Pasta has balsamic vinaigrette over the Gorgonzola cheese pasta, which made the pasta sweeter. Different but I don't prefer it. Bruschetta was ok, the bread was like a crostini, very crunchy! The Rotelle di Parma was very rich, with the abundant cheese. Service was ok. When mentioned a lobster ravioli may be out, it was already out awhile ago! Requested bread twice and was stingy with the garlic. Bummed they did not have aperol spritz. Sat outside which was not the best ambiance, highly recommend to eat inside. Definitely a nice dining experience. I love how this place has a traditional and authentic Italian restaurant feel. The food is delicious and the service is good as well. I really love how they play Italian old fashioned music, it really adds to the romantic dining experience. The indoor decor is very classic/traditional hardwood tables and chairs with lovely + colorful paintings on the wall that add a lot of character to the room. We were so excited to come to an authentic Italian restaurant. We decided to start with the Burrata con Prosciutto as an appetizer and it was lovely. The flavor is great and it is definitely pretty feeling and satisfying. For my main course, I ordered the Fettuccine al Pescatore it was delicious. The seafood was cooked perfectly and added a great taste to the pasta. The fettuccini pasta is definitely super filling it's so thick and hearty. (I wish they would also have thin noodles available for this dish as well because the thick noodles can be a bit much.) We also got another dish (can't remember the name sorry) but it was SO YUMMY and packed with tons of flavor. We especially loved the sauce omg! The taste of the sauce is unexplainable, but it paired amazingly with the bread + cheese from our Burrata con Prosciutto appetizer. Highly recommend. Overall I would definitely suggest Maurizios as a lovely romantic dinner spot, or a great quality authentic Italian meal for your family. The quality of food is great and the prices are pretty reasonable. I will say one thing that they could improve upon is, the host stand is right behind the door in the restaurant and its placement is very awkward/strange. While checking in with the hostess, the door almost got us! lol. This should definitely be moved/changed. Other than the host stand being too close to the door, I will say the restaurant is also very small so it may feel cramped when there's a lot of people dining in. I made a reservation for one on an August Thursday night and had a good time. I was given the choice of inside or outside and I chose inside, where every table was full. It might've been the wrong choice though, because it was very warm in there. There was no air flow, no air conditioning. I'm not sure if that's normal or not but it was a little uncomfortable. I got a 6 oz pour of Sauvignon blanc and the server said he'd send some bread over. I waited quite a bit for that bread. The server was quick in listing the specials, which sounded incredible, but my heart was set on the rigatoni al Ragu di carne. I ordered it and it came out piping hot even before the bread got there. It was insanely hot. I had to let it sit and stir it around for quite a bit before I could pick up a bite and blow on that and try it. I was glad they had salt and pepper on the table because I thought it needed some. It was good and seemed authentic but it wasn't spectacular in my mind and didn't seem to have as much meat in the meat sauce as I would've preferred. I had a craving for Italian food and found Maurizio's on Yelp. It was a drive from San Jose to Morgan Hill, but it was well worth it. It's a small, cozy restaurant that has pretty paintings and interesting decorations. The restaurant offers different wines as well. There were a few specials of the day that were not listed on the menu, our server gave us their various descriptions, so my 90 year old mom ordered the swordfish special with vegetables, my seafood linguine with clams, mussels, shrimp and squid, was initially probably pomodoro (tomato-based), but I ordered it with Alfredo sauce. The linguine in my dish, according to our server, Daniel, has been freshly made at the restaurant. My very favorite pasta is homemade pasta, and Daniel listed about five different pastas that the restaurant makes fresh daily. If you do come here and order, be sure to order a classic dish with fresh homemade pasta, it's really delicious. The lunch menu has one long list of dishes to choose from. We were given fresh, sliced and warm bread served with garlic cloves in olive oil, but we also asked for butter, so we ate the bread with both. Of course, Dr. Gundry keeps telling the public that butter has butyric acid (?) that is good for our gut lining, so we ate the butter pats with the fresh bread. Mom ordered the soup special of the day as an appetizer, which happened to be clam chowder. I had a spoonful, it was quite delicious, she finished the entire cup. While we were there, a party of twenty one people came in, so it must be a favorite place for local office parties. It's a cozy restaurant, so do call before you bring a large party for reservations, since the holiday season is starting. There's parking on the street and down the alley next to the restaurant, but I'm not sure if it is part of the restaurant parking. Some construction is going on behind the place, which has probably taken over the existing parking spaces. The other server came by after our meal and asked us to try out their desserts, so I ordered the lemon ice cream pie with meringue topping. Mom and I shared one slice, it was delicious, the server said he had made all of the desserts. He did say that there was tiramisu, one of my favorites, cannolis and other desserts, espresso (coffee), so make sure to get your dessert here as well. Definitely do check this restaurant out, the food is great, and it's a nice cozy place to bring a loved one, friend, or to have a holiday meal. read more

This spot is always on point! Went here on a Friday evening and it wasn't too busy, thankfully, my friend was able to get us a table for 4. Landon was our server and he was friendly, helpful and reminded me of Jason Ritter! Hhhaa, that's a compliment btw. He asked us about dessert but we were too full but he did give us tips on where to go if we changed our mind. The ice cream rolls place he mentioned was popular and said he visits frequently! I believe we came here once before, but it was long ago. We came recently on a Saturday night at around 5:15, so we weren't sure if we could get in. They were kinda busy, but had seats available outside. It was a cold night, but with the heaters, it was okay. I had the rolled past with Italian ham in a tomato cream sauce. It was very good. My husband had the tortellini with Italian ham & spinach, also very good. We started with the beet salad with citrus and arugula and loved it. Their bread comes with roasted garlic in olive oil, and it was good too. The employees we encountered were all friendly, which is a great plus. Used to be a great place to go! They are very quick and efficient, I didn't like my glass of wine and they had no problem taking it off and giving me other samples to try. Very family friendly our reservation was at 5 PM and we're out by 610 after having appetizer dinner and dessert! Highly recommend After having a great experience 10 days later I had a reservation for Christmas Day. I was excited as I wouldn't have to cook and to my surprise I arrived at the restaurant with it being closed. I called the next day which is today and all the manager said was that he would call the company they use for reservations because they were supposed to be closed. I've had other pasta dishes here that were delicious, which is why I was excited to try something different this time. Holy WOW! If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! We were visiting on a weekend trip from Indiana. We love to try local, so decided to see if we could get in to this spot. We were not able to book online and had to wait for the restaurant to open. Thankfully, we were able to snag a late reservation. When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy, but it was an organized kind of busy. You could tell that the waiters knew what they were doing! Our waiter was awesome! He listed some of his favorite dishes and even shared an off menu favorite of his that my husband ended up ordering. Neither of our dishes had a marinara sauce, so my husband ordered some on the side to try with the delicious bread. It was so good. We also had the bread pudding, which our waiter recommended. That may have been my favorite dish of our whole trip. Our seat was right by the front door. I made note of at least six different people that stopped at the kitchen window to thank the cooks for their meal. That says something about a restaurant! We would have come back a second night if they were open on Sundays. It was the perfect combination of cozy, romantic, hole in the wall, and BEST ITALIAN I've had in a long time. I was becoming a little skeptical because my first few food experiences in Morgan Hill weren't the best but Maurizo's definitely swooped in and saved the day!! this is most definitely an authentic Italian restaurant, from the bread to the dessert. It's a quaint little spot in downtown that is small and homey. I had the mussels to start and my friend had the clam chowder. Both delicious. The mussels could've been a tad bit more flavorful but that would've only added to the overall taste. I appreciated the freshness of the fish. My friend found the clam chowder divinely creamy. It was definitely filling but still left room for the main course. We both opted for one of the house specials for our mains. I had the steak and gnocchi pasta topped with arugula, drizzled in balsamic vinegar. My friend had the seafood linguine with the white wine sauce. The flavor combination of the steak dish .... DIVINE. The seafood linguine was simple but absolutely delicious. Dessert was an affogato and the bread pudding. It would've been hard to ruin the evening at this point () but they did not disappoint, thankfully. Overall, our experience at Maurizo's was amazing. The service was top tier. This restaurant is located near the Gilroy winery area. It's in Morgan Hill with lots of restaurant options. There's sidewalk seating and indoor. The staff is prompt and very helpful! The food is fabulous!! The lamb was cooked to perfection- tender in a savory gravy. The ragu was delicious and quite meaty. The table bread was fresh baked and the olive oil dip was a bit spicy with spreadable garlic cloves. We also had a Caesar salad that was delicious, but we dove in without taking a picture. The Calamari Fritti with lemon, sweet basil syrup, and spicy tomato sauce were delicious and well-portioned. The Burrata con Prosciutto, with fresh burrata cheese, prosciutto, sun-dried tomato pesto, and crostini, was a delightful start to the meal. Heard this place was good and had to go check it out for myself and ended up going with my Dad as always. The service was great! The place was very small and quaint it felt like we were always checked in on and someone was always available if needed. We started off with the polenta, which honestly felt like a dessert... it was sooooo good! My Dad and I will usually share two plates, but this night we decided on one and went with the steak with parm pasta. The steak and pasta was good for the price! A lot better than some other places I've been to near by. It was good enough to split but I do wish there was a little more pasta in there. After our main dish, I got the tiramisu for dessert and my dad got this buttery cake with inclusions. The Tiramisu was definitely more coffee than I was expecting but I don't mind at all. I'm not really into sweets so it was perfect. During the whole experience we also shared a bottle of wine. I'm not usually into Italian wine as a lot of them are too sweet for me. The waiter did recommend a nice one though! Full bodied and closer to a Cabernet but heavier. I was pleasantly surprised with the whole dinner. I would for sure go back. A charming little Italian restaurant in Morgan Hill. Dropped in here for lunch on a weekday with a friend, and it wasn't crowded at all. Their lunch menu was all about the pasta, featuring some very mouthwatering dishes. We opted for a caesar salad to start, and to my delight it came with anchovies on top and a caesar dressing which was spot-on. The fettuccine pasta with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, and capers was superb, with fettuccine pasta that tasted freshly made. Not sure if they knew people were in the restaurant or assumed we couldn't understand what they were saying. Today we went to Mauricio's Italian Food in downtown Morgan Hill, near First Street. The restaurant is small and quaint, creating a cozy spot for a meal. We had lunch, and the food was definitely a highlight--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who made the experience enjoyable. While the ambiance could use a bit more charm to match the food quality, the overall vibe was pleasant enough for a casual lunch. Pricing lands at about 2 1/2 dollar signs--not cheap, but reasonable for the quality of the meal. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back for the food alone. read more

INCREDIBLE! Ate here at around noon on a Friday. This was my first time coming here. I wasn't sure where the front door was. I loved there weee about 4-5 tables of people. Even better that they were parking in lunch with wine. 3 specials: a sole with veggies, seafood spicy dish AND the best yet! Penne with chicken, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes in a pesto Gorgonzola sauce! Now I only go to Italian restaurants that make their own pasta. I always ask which type are fresh. Here fettuccine was made fresh. The nicest waiter offered to switch the penne for fettuccine. WOW!! So amazing!! Huge bowl. Large pieces of chicken. Oh...and the bread with garlic oil. I wish I had room to eat more. I took all of the leftover bread and asked for more to go! Even got a cup for the garlic oil to bring home. I rarely order meals with a sauce that does not heat back up well. I only ever eat about a third of an order. Around 6pm I ate the second round! I still have more for today. This is a small little place but very intimate and service was super friendly and superb. My husband had the carpaccio which was so delicious and tender. I had the Cannelloni de Carne and wow! It was absolutely amazing, the sauce was delicious, rich and creamy and the pasta tasted homemade. It seemed to be a popular dish as I saw several people also ordering it as well. Wedding Rehearsal dinner is a must at Mauricio's. They were SO accommodating. With a larger party (21 people), we were able to order family style. We ordered: Calamari: 5/5 - everyone still talks about how amazing it tasted. Not super chewy. They loved it! Caesar salad: 5/5 - we still love this salad. So tasty! Pesto mushroom pasta: 4/5 perfect for vegetarians. I think I prefer the linguini more than the penne pasta. They asked to switch it to penne because it's easier to scoop with big groups. Rigatoni: 4/5 I prefer lots of cheese. We ordered this because it had less cheese for our lactose wedding party people. Steak and veggies: 5/5 I was pretty full when eating this, but it was very tender and flavorful. Mini Cannolis: 5/5 so tasty and not too sweet! Wine recommendations were on point too. Loved both the red and white wines! Service was the best. We asked if we could come 30 minutes earlier and they said it was perfectly fine! They were extremely helpful and friendly. I ordered the fettuccine al pescatore (needed some salt) and my husband the special that evening- steak and gnocchi. We had a bottle of wine and the involino as appetizer. (Surprisingly, 1 for $17) We got home that evening and my stomach was hurting and bloated and I farted all night. After using the restroom, still my stomach hurt all night and for most of the week. I was nauseous and finally, after a few days, threw up! My stomach is still recovering until now. We spent $200+ that evening for 2 people. And when you spend that kind of money, you don't expect to get food poisoning. Needless to say, we won't be going back...
