Mama Vicky's is an old school diner that has been part of the border town of Port Huron for over 90 years. On our way back from our weekend trip we made pit stop at this old school institution before we headed back home. This is a truest definition of the classic American diner and dive that hasn't changed much since 1923. What this place loses in fine dining, it makes up with super friendly service, cheap and delicious diner food. Serving burgers, fries, sandwiches etc....the star of this place are the Coney Dogs. For thoses of you who are not familiar, Coney Dogs are a Detroit staple of a hot dog smothered with onions mustard and chili. Made famous from Lafayette Coney Island and American Coney Island in Detroit which we've had before, these coneys are simple and delicious. At only $1 USD during the Monday and Tuesday special, these are a must have if you are in the Michigan area. Service was simply wonderful and friendly. A true classic American diner exoerience. Had to try it. My dad grew up in this town, 1936. He fondly spoke of standing outside watching the chefs cook up these little wonders right on the grille, then smothering chili on top of each one with care. The way he talked about it just made me yearn for one. I have visited the area a hundred times in my life. He always talked about this place. So this week was the week. We were in town on business/pleasure, etc. I had a free afternoon and no lunch plans. I dropped in at 1130, place was half full. I was greeted immediately by a super pleasant young lady, I told her I was ordering it to go. I ordered two chili cheese dogs and a small fry. Took a seat and soaked up all the nostalgia the place had to offer. It was very clean, and super cool inside, like right out of my dads childhood. A few minutes later I was handed a bag of pure bliss! I grabbed a sixer of PBR's and raced back to the hotel for a meal fit for a king. Chili cheese dogs are a gift from God. These did not let me down. If you are a fan of chili dogs, give this place a try, it was delicious. read more

This was my dad's favorite spot to get a Coney Island when growing up in Michigan. My siblings and I stopped in to get one in his honor. It wasn't as great as we had remembered but the nostalgia was too notch. They do not salt their fries. Our server was very nice and accommodating. read more

I did not try the coney dogs so I'm sure I missed the main attraction. Instead we had breakfast. Lots of food for the money, is the positive. Cold sausage gravy on the most basic mushy biscuit, the bacon just tasted wrong and not sure how to explain. The service was not great like others reported in their reviews so maybe we just had the grumpy one. I like a diner as well as anyone but nothing would bring me back here. In Port Huron, Teds is a step up overall, especially with service. Daybreak has better food overall but most of the wait staff seems grumpy and unhappy to serve strangers the 5 or so times we have been there. read more

My favorite place for coneys in the world. The chili is awesome by itself, but add in TH crisp hot dogs and mustard (and maybe onion), and this is close to heaven on earth. If your a Detroiter, I here ya, and both Lafayette and American are high on my list, but this is home, and I'll take these over even those. Awesomeness is a bun. read more

Had a huge party of about 16-17 people when we stopped in after a gymnastics meet. Place is an older establishment with a good feel to it for port Huron but in need of some updating, most of the food was good a typical coney place but it wasn't til one in our group got pretty sick from his food not sure exactly what he ate but he said it came right back up. Only to find the hair in meal not sure if it was the food or the hair that made him vomit but for the rest of us it turned us completely off to the place . ... they never made attempt to correct issue or apologize . Not the best move on their part but it happens I guess , it's not every day in port Huron you get a crowd that big read more

This Coney Island has a vintage 70s diner feel and plenty of booth and table space. Our waitress was very friendly and handled our order quickly and happily. I ordered the famous Coney Dog, which tasted perfect as always, and noticeably better chili than other coney islands in the area, as pointed out by others. On the side, cheese fries, and a rich chocolate malt, both delicious. Coming back to this one a lot more in the future. read more

Excellent coney! I'm from St. Clair so I'm a big fan of our hometown Coney Island, but whenever I'm up in Port Huron I stop here as well. The coney sauce recipe here features a stronger element of...allspice? Nutmeg? Something like that. I can't really place it (coney sauce is more complicated than you would think), but it's always a treat. The sauce here is a little soupier than I'm used to, which works well on the dogs but is not as good on chili fries. This factor does not diminish the tastiness, however. Restaurant itself is still well-maintained after all these years and the staff treated us very well. read more

A place that always seems to have been here and a tradition if you grew up in Port Huron. This was a "special" summer meal for our family during the Blue Water Festival. Back then I was a kid so I was only ok with the chili and... KETCHUP on my hot dog. I'm a big girl now, so I'm finally able to enjoy a coney with the works. Still find myself impressed after all these years how the line up on the arm and the smear of mustard and coney sauce always goes off without a hitch. This was the most ridiculous breakfast experience of my life. My boyfriend and I went there Saturday morning and the staff seemed to be in a very big argument, they were literally bickering and yelling at each other in front of us about personal issues. The cook staff was singing loud as hell and doing it specifically to annoy people. The endless high school aged couple cook staff looked like they had never seen a shower or a hairbrush. The staff is very quick. Monday and Tuesday the Coney Dogs are a buck a piece so the place is popping around lunch but dies down so you can get some dogs quick later in the day. The chicken tender pita wrap is great. I like the historical feel of the place, its been a fixture of downtown Port Huron since the beginning of the twentieth century. Cozy seating. Nice crowd. Friendly service. Coney Island Tuesdays with 99 cent hot dogs w/chili is pretty much irresistible. Lots of menu choices. I see people ordering big salads but the menu item I enjoy most is the kielbasa with sauerkraut. read more

I took my son in today for a couple coneys and fries. It was us and another guest and about 5 employees. We got our order quickly and the food tasted fine as usual. I for one like it when the waitress is friendlier and comes over before your glass is empty to check on you and offer a refill, especially when you are pretty much the only guest.
