Dr. K is AMAZING! But I am sad to say I will no longer be attending this practice. Twice my dog was given the wrong medicine. First time it was for a completely different dog. More recently they gave the correct medication, but for the wrong weight of dog. Either time, front staff barely offered apologies. Additionally the front staff is NOT that friendly. Seems like most are not the in business of wanting to help people. They always have an attitude and annoyed when you approach the desk. Such a wonderful place! My dog has been going to puppy daycare here for several years now and we are more than happy with the service they provide! Our dog is always so happy to get inside and loves all the staff there. Prices are fair and I love that she gets a weekly bath with her daycare package. The vet services are also great. When our dog was a puppy she became sick and when dealing with puppies it is essential they get immediate care otherwise it could be a deadly situation. While our (old) regular vet could fit the dog in several days later, the doctors here had us come in immediately! We have had other emergencies there after and were treated in the same manner. Very reassuring to know we can rely on them for any situation. Recently we had to put our cat down due to a combination of old age and sickness. The staff was extremely helpful and comforting during this time. They gave us a clay ornament with the cats pawprint as a parting gift. It was so thoughtful and really set them apart from other vets. They are always so kind and even send letters for holidays. She was by my side for over 17 years. She meant so much to me. Her loss felt very devastating. MVH gets 5 stars, hands down. Dr. Gilbert and his team are some of the kindest and most caring people I've ever met. I brought my mini dachshund here in April 2017 after having bad experiences with other vets in the area. I now use their vet services exclusively, as well as the boarding, daycare and grooming services. My dog LOVES it here, she is excited from the minute we walk through the door. The people who work at the front desk are welcoming, knowledgeable and I've seen them juggle chaos with ease. At one point when my dog was at daycare, she became very ill. She had eaten some small piece of plastic or toy fluff in my care. Once at daycare, the team there noticed immediately. They called me at work to get my approval for treatment. The doctors were extremely clear on what the procedures would be and how much it would cost. The doctor rocked my puppy in her arms as she did paperwork, to soothe and comfort her when I could not be there. She then gave me her contact information for emergencies, YET still called me the next morning to check on her status. If my dog was not at daycare that day, I'm sure she would have died in my house alone. They genuinely care. I have also brought my dog to Camp Bow Wow and I watched on the camera as a team member disregarded my dog and refused to pet her "as per policy". At Mamaroneck Vet, they treat your pets like family. On multiple occasions, I've seen the team sitting on the floor in the play area with the dogs to give them affection and attention. We were a client with 2 dogs for over 10 years and when it was time to say good-bye to our pet they could not give us an appointment and just gave us the phone number of an 'end-of-life' service. After spending a small fortune over the life of our dogs at this place we think it is unacceptable to deny this final service to a loyal client/patient when we needed them the most. Big disappointment. Not sure whether it is arrogance, disrespect for a longtime client, untrained receptionist or a mix of the above. I have never been shown the amount of indifference and disrespect from a business claiming to love and care for animals. For my visit I warned them and brought in two feral kittens that I was rescuing, a brother and sister. Upon the visit I was only met with negativity and the question "you actually intend to live with them?" Still plays in my head. I had warned them and told them of my intentions but was met with negativity and judgement. We had explained to them that these cats were being trained and cared for with the idea of being adopted out. After telling us they couldn't do anything, we left with some do it yourself flee and tick oil. As we were walking back to the car the boy cat got out of the carrier, the gate must not have been properly closed. We chased and searched for over an hour, while the nurses did help at the beginning, interest was lost to help find the cat. We insisted on speaking with the vet who had the worst attitude and absolutely not sympathy. He had the attitude as if this is what we deserved for trying to rescue these cats. Even stated that he's better off where he is. He showed no remorse and gave no kind words as the cat we were saving had been lost on account of his negligence. Since that day, the cat that I did rescue has been the most happy and snuggly cat. She loves attention and being constantly held. I will never be back to this vet and after walking around the neighborhood looking for the lost cat and meeting the people in the area while looking, apparently I'm not the only one displeased with their services. Mistakes will be made and no one is perfect, but to come out and have no sympathy and have this attitude of 'it is what it is' was shocking and rude from a man claiming to want to help and heal animals. I was rescuing these cats because the alternative was them being euthanized. I don't usually yelp but feel the need to as the cat I have is asleep on my lap after only a week of being in my care. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE! I grew up right down the street from this place, and it has been there for years, so I figured it couldn't be that bad, but I was definitely wrong. I brought my 10 lb dog here to board while going away to FL for a week. When I returned I was shocked to find out that they were trying to charge me an additional $100 for aggressive or disruptive behavior, which they did not state in the beginning. How aggressive can a 10 lb shih tzu be? Additionally, I notice a small bald patch on his side (which was not there before) that has some sort of ointment on it. The women who had bathed him said "oh he just has a little rash so I put some ointment". Well several months, vet bills and medications later this bacterial rash would not go away. If you were to add up the cost of boarding for a week plus all the vet bills, it cost me over $1000 to leave my dog here for a week! Trust me, DON'T GO read more

This is home away from home for our beloved Ace, an 85 pound over-exuberant black lab mix. As my husband and I both have long commutes and tough jobs, it's important to us that Ace has companionship, exercise and care during the week. The facility is small but they make the most of what they have, and most importantly offer true caring and excellent care for all animals they see. We trust Dr. Gilbert, Dr. Raver and their outstanding staff completely. From receptionists to pet care to vet techs to hospital staff, you'd be hard pressed to find more caring people. First I want to start by saying how horrible a place this is for your pets. And if you are thinking of leaving your dog there, owner beware. My dog Diego only 4 years entered the facility on May 12th. At the time he was happy and very healthy dog. A few days later while on vacation I received a call saying he had a urinary tract infection. When I return from vacation the medication provided did nothing, but make him worse. Sadly I must say that a few days later my Diego past away at the young age of 4. The clinic and resort refused to take responsibility for what happened and all they did was charge me upwards of $800 for an illness he received while staying there. This places scares me. I dropped my dog, Mozie, off on back to back days. After the first day i noticed that his elbow had lost some fur and was pretty red underneath. Dogs will be dogs. I mentioned it to the staff the next morning. Please pay close attention, as i do not want this issue to continue, he already acted a bit in pain from the little redness. Picking up my dog on the second day, immediately i noticed that the area had grow SIGNIFICANTLY. This time all the fur was off his elbow and his elbow was raw... When asking what had gone on during the day, the two people at the front desk had nothing to say. They pointed to the young boy (maybe 18... who knows but not a professional, just some kid), who said "he just played". I asked if he watched the dogs today, he said no. When asking if there was some of authority, manager, vet, anything.... they said no. This place is a liability... just skip this place and pick another one, trust me Here is my conclusion to what went down - They do not have staff watching the dogs at all times.... - They may rope up the dogs at somepoint (esp given the condition of his collar and harness) - They have noone with vet experience on staff while they have dogs in their care. As a note, I have had my dog in doggie day care for years in NYC... He never came back with anything less then a smile and being very tired. I know how my dog acts when he has some pain and the fact that he doesnt move when i put ice on his elbow and is whining as he breathes... something went wrong. Reminder - Westchester addresses does not equal good business. Wish I would have toured the facility before leaving there. Wont be doing that again - Wish there was a govt agency to report too - still researching that so I can take action. I bring my dog here sometimes to treat her to a day of play. She is a bit timid and is usually afraid to be taken to the back such as the vet, daycare, etc. It took her one time here to just pull away fror me and go directly to the back door, excited to go play and have fun. She loves the pool and always comes home tired and happy. The staff is great and even showed me a video of my baby girl playing with a new "boyfriend". The dogs play outside unlike most facilities, and they even have a pool. The play space is bigger than most as well, and when the weather doesn't cooperate, the entire top floor is a play room. read more

Disappointed with the care my older cat received here. They don't discuss cost with you initially, so be prepared to get hit with sticker shock after your visit, unless you specifically ask throughout the exam how much everything will cost. First time I went there my cat received a clean bill of health from the fresh-out-of vet school doctor. When I brought her back a year later, I was told she had a mouth full of rotting teeth. How is is possible to miss that? When I told the doctor/owner, he didn't seem to care. They repeated what I felt were unnecessary tests that cost hundreds of dollars, and overcharged $35 for a months supply of thyroid medicine which costs less than half that amount online. My mother has brought our dogs and cats to Mamaroneck Veterinary for the past 15 years and they've been nothing but FANTASTIC. We recently lost our 13 year old German Shepherd and both the staff and Dr. Rever and Dr. Gilbert were absolutely the best in handling George's final weeks days and even his final minutes with us. Dr. Raver and her staff were so understanding and sweet when they carried George into the hospital during his final minutes with us. I have never been more comfortable and felt more at home at any hospital in my life and being someone in the veterinary field of medicine I have had my fair share of working at hospitals and also being a pet owner I have had my share of experience as a client. This is hands down the most thorough, honest and caring hospital I've ever been to. The staff and doctors are exquisite. If you read my reviews I don't candy coat so for me to give this hospital all 5 stars says a LOT! Note: I have worked at Animal Hospitals for several years and I have never had a time at this hospital when my pets have had to be put down where their concern has been anything but making sure my pet was comfortable and at peace and that I was alright. They NEVER EVER asked about payment AT ALL during these heart breaking times. And that means SO MUCH to me and to other clients. I have worked at hospitals where they are asking about payment during these situations and it is disgusting! I have walked out of working at facilities that treat people and their animals as just money-- Mamaroneck Veterinary is one of the FEW in the COUNTRY that I have experienced to be truly 100% about the patients well being. DISGUSTED. Last weekend, I had a trip that left me no choice but to bring my Lab to the 'pet resort.' I have brought my cats to this vet, and had positive doctor visit experiences and hoped that would transfer over to their 'resort.' The people seem nice and caring, but upon picking my dog up it became clear that they are nice and pleasant but oblivious, have zero regard for the condition in which my dog was in, and were SHOCKED when my boyfriend pointed out that he was CLEARLY LIMPING. They could not 'identify' where the cuts on his peds came from. REALLY? Here is what I can tell you...When I dropped him off, he was fine - with not one cut on him. When we picked him up - there were deep rubs on his rear peds that caused him to limp and favor his back paws. So as far as identifying where they came from: They came from his stay at the Pet Resort at Mamaroneck Veterinary Hospital. How long was my dog like this? Was he crying from pain over the weekend with no attention to the raw peds on his back paws? Furthermore, my frustration, disappointment and disgust are less about the cuts and more about the fact that no one in this ANIMAL HOSPITAL noticed my dog was limping?? I'm sorry but you would think that a 95 LB dog limping would be noticeable to any normal person, let a lone a doctor and team of people that should be keen to that. We've been looking for a vet for years and finally found one we love! Thanks Dr. Booker for being sensitive, intuitive and extremely knowledgable during interactions with our injured dog (Misu). Having known Dr. Gilbert for a number of years, I was willing to drive from Manhattan to see him when my cat was ill. Poor Obi was suffering from a hacking cough and sneezing. Dr. Gilbert thought the little bugger might be constipated. Constipated? How does that fit in? Well, his theory was that if the cat was having some irritable bowel syndrome, that would create all this gross stuff which would make him sniffle and hack. So they did an X-Ray. Don't want to gross you out, but that cat was stuffed up! A gentle laxative and the feline was good as new. Okay, so the facility is very clean, and the staff are very friendly. They seem to have a lot of patience, and are willing to help out. There is parking in front, and I have not had a problem getting a spot, but I could see how it might be tight. Prices are in line with the area, which is to say not cheap, but fair. In return, I get what I think is the best Vet service imaginable. read more

We have been going here since we got my dog 7 years ago and I wouldn't send her any place else!! The doctors are super friendly and it is easy to get an appointment. My dog loves boarding there! They've got a beautiful pool in the back and they let her play with the other dogs, as well as some individual play. We've never had a problem, we usually leave her food with her, and they're really good at getting leashes or beds back to us if we accidentally leave them behind. And we always ask for a bath & she comes back squeaky clean! I would never trust my dog to another place!! read more

I've been using Mamaroneck Veterinary Hospital & Pet Resort for the 13 years of the life of my current dog as well as for my previous dogs and cats, so I have experienced the previous as well as the current owner. I have NEVER has a bad experience. I am TOTALLY satisfied with the professional care my pets have received. The staff is wonderful! They interact with the pet and the owner with ease. My dog LOVES going to board there . He would act differently if he had experienced anything bad. His tail wags furiously when one of the staff (his "buddies") comes to the front to take him back to the boarding area. They greet him with enthusiasm and he gives the same back. You can tour the kennel area to see how clean it is. There is a nice outdoor space for daily exercise and fresh air. They have separate outdoor areas for dogs who don't socialize well. The last two times our dog has boarded at this facility, he has come home with kennel cough. When I called this week to let the kennel know that he was sick, they said that it wasn't kennel cough but a virus that is going around. If the kennel knew that my dog had potentially been exposed to something, they should have mentioned it when we picked him up. Another time when he boarded he wasn't bathed properly for his type of fur/hair, He not only smelled but he was matted so our next grooming bill was higher. Not the type to post a review, but because of my recent experience, I absolutely have to. We've been coming to the pet resort for many years and Dr. Gilbert is our primary vet for our dogs. We drop them off once a week for daycare. Leashes not needed as they happily follow their handler down the hall. So I trust Dr. Gilbert and his staff unconditionally. During Thanksgiving break our cat, Ollie, was not doing so well. Our cat sitter called us while away and was saying that Ollie is in really bad shape. Not eating, drinking or using his litter box. Ollie lost his brother to kidney failure two weeks prior, and we were out of town, so maybe depression?? My husband and I did what all concerned pet parents do....went to Dr. Google to see what it could be, never thinking he was suffering from the same infliction as his brother. Especially since he showed NO signs prior. His brother clearly was showing the signs something was wrong, and with the right diet, we were able to enjoy him 2 more years. Again, Ollie showed no signs. Thankfully, we were coming home the next day to assess and take him to vet. Ollie was clearly displaying the same signs as his brother towards the end of his life. But neither my husband or kids were able to verbalize what we all thought. So we took our 17 year old family member to see Dr. Gilbert. He ran some tests, and confirmed what we already knew. We made the decision then and there that it was time to let go and Dr. Gilbert walked us through the process. I couldn't stay through the whole procedure, and even as I type these words, it brings tears to my eyes. When I walked out of the room, one of the staff members was outside, and did what any compassionate human would do....gave me a hug. To repeat, I'm not one to write reviews, nor someone that exposes feelings on the internet, just not me. So, I write this not because of everything stated previously, I write this review because what I received from Dr. Gilbert a week later.....a condolences note. Handwritten nonetheless. In this day and age of technology, social media, and everything at your fingertips in 30 seconds or less, to have the time to sit down and write a note, put a stamp on it and mail it? I was overwhelmed. Truly, truly overwhelmed. Dr. Gilbert, Dr. Raver, and Barb at the front desk and the rest of the staff, I thank you. The delicate manner on which you handled Ollie, the way my dogs walk into your facility without hesitation clearly shows the heart behind this veterinary hospital and day care. I have been using this vet and the resort for 2 years now. My dog has been attending day care daily for the past 6 months. I couldn't be happier. They are great. I used to use a different vet in the area for 40 years, but when I called requesting an emergency appointment for my sick 10 week old puppy, they said the earliest I could bring her in was 4 days. Puppies can go down hill very quickly and need to be seen immediately. I called Mamaroneck Vet and they took her right away. I switched all of my animals immediately. My dog gets so excited when we pull in the driveway each day that I can hardly hold her back. The staff are very welcoming and everyone of them know her likes and dislikes. Worst veterinarian in the world don't take your pet there unless you want them to die.

Just moved here from Oakland, CA and brought my 16 y/o Sadie bc she was diagnosed with kidney disease before I left. Right from the beginning everyone was VERY nice to my sweet cat and me. I was a bit of a wreck from the move and was worried about her quality of life. Dr. Gilbert and his wonderful techs were very comforting. We did about a month's worth of fluids but when she didn't come downstairs for her breakfast I knew that wasn't a good sign. I didn't want her to suffer so I made the heartbreaking decision of making an appointment to euthanize my beautiful girl. The staff was incredibly kind to me while I tried to talk in between tears. Dr. Gilbert came to my house (naturally it was more expensive, but I didn't want to put her in the carrier anymore) at the end of the day with a tech and explained to me what was going to happen. It was incredibly painful (still is, as I write this) but we had napped together that day, Sadie on the pillow next to me head and I said good-bye. Right before he left he gave me a hug and a few days letter I received a condolence card in the mail from him. I will be going back since I have 2 other cats and I know we are all in great hands. read more

If you love your pet, don't take him/her here. We dropped off my daughters hamster for 4 days for the memorial weekend. We brought 4 packets of food with directions to keep it refrigerator and feed 1 packet per day. When we came back to get the little girl, she had not been fed any of the food we supplied. We asked the desk WTH happened. The vet came out and said the caretaker must have overlooked the food and instructions, but the hamster was fed their small pet kibble. BS, the cage had very little stool pellets. Vet said if hamster was left with no food for the 4 days, she wood have died. Another lie, research showed they can live 4 days without food, but obviously need water. Needless to say, we did not pay and will never go back. While I was there a woman came to pick up her lab. They were supposed to have washed him but he smelled bad and had a clumps of fur all over him. The dog was a little wet because he had jumped in the pool, but in no way was washed. The owner questioned this, but just left unhappy. I would of had them take it off the bill and insist on a free bath. Another woman was their to pick up specialty food, and they gave her the wrong food and had to go back. Please use another Vet Hospital. Too many better choices in the area. read more

I brought my dog with a fish hook stuck in her lip to Mamaroneck Veterinary on the Boston Post Road. They wouldn't remove it because the procedure might take 2 hours according to the vet and the business closed in 60 minutes. It took another vet 45 total minutes to complete the entire process of sedation, removal and recovery at another hospital a few towns away. It almost took that long to drive to them. I've brought my dog here for vaccinations and grooming. Most of the time the grooming is uneven but acceptable and when getting the vaccinations, have to double check that the correct vaccines were administered. One of the shots thats only supposed to be given every couple years was given a few years early and the annual shot was missed but they were quick to right the mistake so no real harm done... Just need to be more cautious. read more
