Charlie after day 7 of radiation!

I can't say enough about the staff at Animal Specialty Center. From the employees at the front desk to everyone in between.... THANK YOU!!! Your compassion for animals (and their owners) shows! The love and care they provided to our pup Charlie during his radiation will never be forgotten. Dr. Rosen along with her entire staff (Karina, Victoria, Nadia, Sandra, India, Shirley, and Christina) were amazing!!! They made Charlie feel loved and cared for, which in turn made us extremely comfortable knowing that he's in good hands! We are forever grateful for all of you! You'll all have a special place in our prayers and hearts! Xoxo

If I could give minus star I would !! This place is far the worse I've ever experienced while away on vacation , my Dog Sitter saw my babies eye infected. He takes him to Banfield, which I have insurance, for they tell him the doctor is not in at normal hours and it's best he goes to ASC Why do I pay insurance for five years? Never had one answer I go tO ASC in Yonkers and they, see my baby after three hours of WAITING TO TELL HIM TO take meds which I had already for his eye. They claim They tested him while they didn't touch Hilmi They charge a fee 295 and then want more for testing and treatment coming out to over $600! I then find out my Amex card has been applied. It once but 4 separate times "fraud" while my sitter already paid for the amount due in full. I wish I was there as they took advantage of a 17 year old high school kid and threatened him they won't release dog if bill not paid. Once I get back I will seek legal Action as they did nothing else but scam me and the poor kid out of money for NO SERVICE at all. They even wouldn't let us see the ointment they claim they gave my baby. That's disgusting! BEWARE!!!!!

I came to the Yonkers specialty care hospital at 2pm for my beloved pup. They charged me as soon as I walked in for an exam, my pup was sooo weak you can see him suffering. I waited for four hours and an half with no examination done yet. I asked the young girls at the front desk multiple times for updates and they were on their cell phone or just taking their time. Especially the PM receptionist. They saw my distress and worry and acted careless. Finally, they stated that King was not examined yet due to his vitals showing normal and stable so the doctor was attending to other critical cases coming in. I asked how much longer and they stated that it would be about 3 hours longer because they were short staff and that was the only doctor on duty. I would have to wait for the PM doctor to come in at 9-9:30 pm. I became in a deeper distress and anxiety. I asked for a refund and took King to another emergency vet. Come to find out my king had an obstruction going on the whole time. HE WAS ALSO A CRITICAL CASE!! It was too long before the surgery took place. King has passed away by the time her received surgery at another hospital. My pup might've been saved at the Animal specialty care Center had they done their exam. I did everything in my power to save my baby and I will not rest until I get justice. Vets and staff really need to learn that our pets are like our loved ones and just as serious as a human being. King was my all!!. I have 2 other babies Starlet and Rocky and I fear for them. I am so scared of vets now. Our pets need, if not all but most, equal rights as humans with medical attention. #justiceforking https://chng.it/Lg7pgh9P5n

There was a 5 hour wait to have my dog seen due to short staffing in a "real emergency" situation. Inexcusable!

Yes, it can cost an arm and a leg--thank God for pet insurance--but I understand this is 24-hour emergency care, and that's never cheap. Most importantly, I don't feel pressured into upsells or unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciate. Every doctor I've seen has been very patient, attentive, and professional--and all the employees, vets, and techs are genuinely compassionate as well. I especially appreciated Dr. Alexander Nunez, who treated my dog last night and really stood out for his care and approach. I've never had a bad experience here. I'm genuinely grateful to live so close to a place I can rely on for my pet's emergencies.

Veterinary emergency group is not a full animal hospital. And their prices are higher because they…read moreare for profit so before you go there consider this- Is your animal stable? If so you would be better off to drive to a 24-hour full hospital like the emergency room at ordell animal hospital or The animal medical center. That way whatever your animal needs there are doctors who can be called in and 24-hour doctors on staff. For example if you need an ultrasound veg does not have anyone to call in. They are not equipped to give an MRI they are not equipped to give a CAT scan they are equipped to do X-rays and blood work but they drag their feet about giving me my blood work within the 48 hours that we were there when I was leaving with my dog they refused to give me my blood work and took 4 days to give me my blood work and x-rays they could have just sent me the data they did the blood work in house and they could have released the X-rays to me to show it to my regular vet. They did this because they wanted to write a report they delayed me in getting the care that I wanted to get during the prelude to a massive Thanksgiving holiday. What veg is good for is that they will immediately treat your animal!... They will begin treatment while they are admitting your animal. So if your animal is having difficulty breathing if you think they have an allergy if you think they ate something poisonous then I would go to the closest facility including VEG but if they're stable or you are the same distance from a full 24-hour hospital like the animal specialty center in Yonkers the animal medical center in Manhattan the or oradell animal hospital in New Jersey then that is where I would go . Be also prepared that they can be extremely insensitive. I was on the phone with a friend to get help paying because I had been caring for a sick family member for the last 3 years it was during COVID.... And I was on the phone with a friend who was helping me set up payment. She decided that the last minute that she was only going to pay half and so I had to call another friend to help with the other half here they actually put this in the report like that was noteworty.... Like it was awesome how that somebody would have an emergency in the middle of the night and rushed to the hospital knowing that they had family and friends who would help. Oh yeah and they charge me for two bottles of medicine two bottles of clavamox and still have not reimbursed me for the bottle that they didn't give me. Be prepared that you're going to pay more for that care. This is not unusual but a reason to try and find a true 24-hour hospital versus an emergency only facility..

VEG is different than all those places. We were seen immediately and while they do have an open concept ER, they gave us a private room just in case. The nurse (Diana) and the vet (Dr. Schwartz) were all incredible. They took such good care of our dog and us! They allow you to be with your pet during X-rays which I found amazing. The behavior this practice has exhibited has been avoidant, evasive and disappointing. I called distressed after my dog was having complications healing from surgery after a lipoma removal. We arrived on a busy Sunday and were taken at the end of a triage. During our time there I voiced to MULTIPLE techs that my dog was bleeding through his gauze. 2/3 responses were a deadpan stare and the words "ok". It took 3 times of me asking/ pleading for someone to listen to me. Even then I was armed with loose gauze and a wee wee pad. When we were finally seen I was so relieved i let this all fall away. I was so happy my pet was taken care of I went home following their orders and protocol. The next day I realized all the sutures at the site had fallen out and we were back at square one after spending hundreds of dollars. Naturally I was upset and placed a call to the location. I was placed on an infinite hold 3 times with no answer until i called from my friend's phone to which they picked up immediately. I have been calling every day since Monday with not a single person giving me a call back or without any financial compensation for the negligent job they did. I have given them since Monday to give me a call back and fix this. I've called every day without a call back. We called ahead and explained the situation and were assured due to the seriousness (as she was in much pain) her care would be prioritized. Upon arrival, the staff had a table all ready for us, and immediate action was taken to prep her for examination. It was respectfully, professionally, and tactfully communicated to us the exact diagnosis our cat was under, along with the reasons why that conclusion could be made. Unfortunately it was a fatal condition and nothing could be done besides relieving her pain. She lived a long and happy life of 18 years. Despite the outcome, the staff was empathetic and supportive during the process and afterwards. The loss of a pet is never easy, but the way the situation was handled was the best it could have been. A wonderful nurse immediately checked the kittens and found one had dangerously low blood sugar. Unfortunately, after waiting over an hour and half Dr. Alexander Bingham told us our kitten had no chance of survival and strongly recommended euthanasia, saying she would die within hours and nothing will help her. We refused to give up. Another doctor gave the kitten corn syrup, and she became more responsive almost immediately. He came again saying that its agony movements... We took her home, kept her warm, bottle-fed (that we bought in petsmart) her, and today she is completely healthy and thriving ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That same day, my cat was later diagnosed with a deceased kitten still inside her. Dr. Alexander Bingham repeatedly pushed for emergency surgery and spaying.Wheny I asked why spaying he said "it's just how I work". However, after receiving oxytocin, she naturally delivered the kitten herself just before surgery, making the procedure unnecessary. She also made a full recovery. The bright spot of our experience was nurse Amanda R. Anette, whose kindness, compassion, and empathy meant everything during one of the hardest days of our lives. My biggest disappointment was Dr. A.Bingham's lack of empathy, poor communication and speaking faster than you can hear. Absolutely willingness to give up so quickly and trying KILL instead treating. Instead of offering hope or discussing all possible options, he immediately recommended euthanasia for a kitten that is alive and healthy today because of mine and my fiancee stubbornness. I am incredibly grateful for the nurses and the second doctor (I don't know her name) who gave my pets a chance. Without them, the outcome could have been very different. I would never forget her words (might not work but it's worth trying).

We did have a long wait, but to be fair, it was a rough night there and there were pets there with more significant injuries, so I appreciated their prioritizing them. They were able to administer pain meds though, which helped my dog feel much more comfortable overnight until I get her in to see her regular vet the following day. The bill was a bit high for just a preliminary evaluation, a basic cbc, and one shot of pain killer but it was worth having some peace of mind that my dog was seen and in far less discomfort overnight. I would definitely go back if I needed to, as the care she received was prudent and they were honest with me about their concerns about the risk of sedation for my particular dog.

With a dedicated appointment, these people made my cat wait 12 hours and continued to bump him for other patients without having any intake, questions, or indication what was wrong to have any understanding where he fell in the ranking order of priority. My cat could have had a fatal obstruction, but they priorotized dogs while making all the cats wait needlessly in pain. Their poor patient management and improper staffing (1 vet & 1 tech for a massive practice for a full 24 hour shift on a Saturday) is what prevented my cat from getting critical care from another more equipped vet earlier in the day due to their inability to manage their bandwidth. I was patient and waited 12 hours and opted for an appointment that I was told I would definitely have if I waited and came in later in the day, so I took it. I sat in the waiting room for three hours as I listened to the receptionist lie from one patient to the next that was calling or walking in saying they had multiple urgent animals in the back (they had one dog in an oxygen chamber). She repeatedly told customers the vet was "in over her head" and was turning people away. A fully alert dog with no visible injuries and showing zero signs of distress was whisked away ahead of my cat who is suffering in pain for an unknown cause. When I shared my frustrations with the receptionist, the veterinarian, who was supposedly caring to the "urgent" dog that was taken ahead of me only 3 minutes earlier, managed to step away from her "critical" care of the animal to come out and scream at me and make a scene in front of the whole waiting room. It was beyond unprofessional and if it was my animal that was supposedly critical, and she diverted her attention away to come out and chastise a pet owner for advocating for their own animal's health and well being rather than tending to my critical pet, I would question that veterinarian's judgment and oath to do no harm. Only someone with major impulse control issues would be unable to control their temper that they"d step away from such a supposedly "critical" case like that. The other cat that was forced to wait too was there a week earlier with a major jaw abscess infection they failed to heal and she was also waiting hours. It was clear the vet prioritizes dog care over cat care. Just walking inside the walls are filled with dog images only, no other pets. Their merchandise is for dogs only: bowls, leashes, toys, etc! Go on the website, the images, all dogs. The vet isn't smart enough to know she's showing her bias right in her marketing of the practice. They couldn't handle the caseload, and canine care outranked feline. The receptioniat assessed each dog coming in, but didn't even take one look in my cats direction. Dog owners were questioned upon entry, cat owners were told "the wait would be a while and to sit inside". PetOne is not equipped to run the type of business they present themselves to be. They never should have made my appointment if they couldn't manage the patient load and should have told me an appointment is not guaranteed, and that they are taking dogs over cats in order of priority. That failure of critical patient care prevented my cat from getting medical care hours earlier from a more reputable and capable facility as I had called at 10 am and had all day to seek out an alternative had I known my appointment wasn't real. This practice when they were located in Valley Stream had more legal services on staff than they did actual vets. They had so many legal issues, they were forced to retain full time council at one point to keep up with the case load of legions of unhappy customers/patients. Do your research on Central Vet in Valley Stream before you make the decision to bring your pet to PetOne. Their reputation is trash, just like the vet who stepped away from patient care to make a scene and yell at a human advocating for their animal.

On Sunday evening, I took my senior Chihuahua to VEG Chelsea. A vet tech quickly took her weight and temperature but did not ask why we were there or take any other history. We were placed in a room in the back with a window to the main area where I could see lots of staff members. After 45 minutes of waiting with no updates or anyone checking on my dog, I went out to ask if they might have an estimate of when the vet might see us and was told a few minutes, but this proved not to be true and I watched that vet leave for the evening. Around the two-hour mark, I heard a staff member tell the new vet that everyone was triaged. I was surprised because no one had asked what brought us to the ER. I spoke with a staff member in the hallway and explained that we'd been waiting for two hours with no one taking my dog's history or checking on her, and I told her that I was disappointed by the lack of communication. Before we could discuss it, another staff member interrupted and told me that my dog's temperature and weight were the triage and she asked what I expected since one veterinarian had just left and another had just arrived. I understand that ERs have to prioritize certain patients, and I was not upset about waiting. However, I felt dismissed when I waited for two hours with no one providing us updates or checking on my dog. A little bit of communication would have gone a long way. I found the staff member's response to my concerns very condescending, and so my dog and I left. For those reasons, I would not recommend this ER and next time will visit one of the many others available in our city.
