Our dog has been going to daycare there for 3 years now - he is a loved and well exercised during the day and we love the easy pick up and drop off process. Bathing and grooming access is fabulous and the blow dry experience is perfect to not have a damp dog in the car! Whitaker is a socialized dog due to the care and training he has received at Dogtopia. OMG, they butchered my poor dog, second time there, 1st grooming was fine, this is what they did do the poor little guy! Had to go to the vet this morning for antibiotics ($115 bill) Vet said he had razor burn from being shaved too closely and this is his neck! When I called to complain and request a refund the manager Sarah was extremely rude and belligerent. She said it was my fault for telling them to cut him short and that he was very knotted. My normal groomer is Le Beastro in Rye and they always do a beautiful job and he has been much more knotted than this time, Difference is that they take the time to brush him. Owner was no better, insisted it was my fault! Never have I had such a bad experience and not to be given credit for the $90 I spent is ridiculous , horrible customer service, so now I spent over $200 for this grooming and have a poor bleeding dog, they should be ashamed of themselves! I only went there the 1st time because they were the only groomers I could find during the lockdown, I should have read the last review. My dog came here for a simple meet and greet, I decided to let him remain for a few hours. Upon pick up my dog smelled like he bathed in urine which is not how I dropped him off. I said to the receptionist said she was not sure. Once home, I saw additional red marks which looks like it was bleeding. I immediately called and I was told I would get a call back from the manager. I received a call the following day and connected the following day. Justin was dismissive and kept saying "your dogs breed the type of play might have caused the marks." I reiterated the scratches were a concern and I continued to be dismissed where Justin said "I don't know what you want me to tell you? I'm not here to lie to you." I boarded my dog here 2 nights and I have no complaints. If your dog enjoys playtime with other dogs, this is the place to bring them. They spend about 10 hours a day having free time to roam around the room with other dogs instead of other places that keep them crated all day or give them just a few minutes of socialization time. The webcams are great to have a look in and see how your baby is doing. The only drawback is that the dogs freely pee and poop on the floor of the room and it's easy to understand how quickly that can get messy, but every time I watched on the webcam, messes were promptly cleaned up. read more

Our dog boarded for 4 nights at the Dogtopia in New Rochelle, New York. He came home and had explosive diarrhea. His diarrhera has lasted now for 5 days. It seems they may also have given him the wrong food. His diarhea the first day contained large square kibble -- not at all what we had left with them to feed him. Definitely would not recommend. Their setting is to have a large group of dogs just roaming about in a big room so he could have picked up this infection any number of dogs. I told them about his diarrhea. I would have thought they would have informed the other owners of dogs who were with him that day. read more

I was looking for a way to socialize my dog and help him with his anxiety around other dogs and people. The Meet and Greet was really great - they walked him around the room and helped him get comfortable with the other pups. He came home happy and loved it. Unfortunately the regular daycare service didn't hold up. Our very next visit I put him in daycare for a full day. I didn't see him on any of the webcams and by lunchtime I was worried so I called to ask if he was okay, and they just said he's feeling timid and staying underneath the table. I was very worried because I didn't see the handlers make any attempts to make him feel comfortable or socialize with the other dogs like they had on my first day. When I picked him up, he STUNK, like he smelled like a person who hadn't washed their clothes or showered in weeks, and he was absolutely filthy. His hair was sticky and dry, as if he was laying in urine all day and his paws were black with dirt. He was very sad, not at all like he was the first day. We gave him a bath right away and the water was grey from the filth on him from that one day. I couldn't believe they would send him home like that. My dog is shy, but he doesn't deserve to be neglected all day. They didn't do anything to take care of him or socialize him like they claimed. I won't be bringing my dog back here. read more

I should've known to leave when my dog was more anxious and uncomfortable with each return visit. I would give them 0 stars if I could. They had me bring my dog in for a meet & greet three times. In hindsight, I've realized (after conversing with others who take/have tried to take their dogs there) they never planned on taking her. I made it very clear what date I needed to have her in daily daycare. They strung me along for weeks before denying her right before my deadline to find a place for her. They could have had the decency to tell me it wouldn't work out earlier so I had time to make plans. Instead, the staff was rude, condescending, and sent me away each time saying my dog was the problem because she wouldn't go in the room with the other dogs. They sent me an email after the third visit recommending a dog training book and saying she has behavioral issues! To be clear- the only reason they denied her was because she was "too anxious" to go in the daycare room and they "didn't want to traumatize her" and they "can't take her if they can't handle her." I've heard they've given people the wrong dog during pickup, done a similar thing to others, and I've heard them berate the dogs in the room while I was there (to the point where the other woman and I in the main room were talking about how much it concerned us). If you love your pet, I wouldn't go here. My dog is now very happy at a different daycare, and was comfortable with the staff there from the start. read more

The employees at this site are incompetent, cold and unhelpful. I was in a tight and needed boarding for a long weekend. Granted, Dogtopia's policy of behavioral checks and day care prior to boarding is necessary and wonderful but the local staff at this site were completely unhelpful in trying to accomplish this for my pet in a time frame that should have worked (4 days). Ultimately, a service and business should be welcome to "making business" and this site's energy was the complete antithesis of that entrepreneurial spirit: lazy, arrogant, poor customer service and apathetic. I would not recommend anyone use their services and would encourage their staff to go through customer service training and team building so that they may improve their poor, unprofessional and quite frankly, raggedy service. read more

Have boarded my dog here twice. Most recently for four nights. We check in on the webcams often. The attendants don't engage much with the dogs. I watched one with a rag swatting at the floor keeping all the dogs away from him/her. My already skittish pup was hiding under a table. The first time my dog came back stinking of urine, it was worse the second time. I must drive home with the car windows down, and immediately give him a bath when he gets home. In addition to stinking of urine, his entire rump was caked with dried feces. He had to sit in the bath for quite a while to soften it up to clean him off. Quite an ordeal. How does that happen to a housebroken dog? Last time using Dogtopia New Rochelle. It is hard enough leaving your pet behind, even harder when they seem uncared for. read more

The first time he came back with it they said next time he should be placed in a suite where there was no cage, of course more money. Fine I want the dog safe and secure. The dog rooms are so overcrowded with a dog to person ratio of about 25 or 30 or more to 1on a regular basis and then they continually tell me my dog is a problem, he is a puppy and can be a handful but they evaluated him when they took my money and said he would be fine. They approved my appointment request online and then when I arrived told me it wasn't in there system, even after I showed them the approval on my phone. On another occasion they told me it wouldn't really be a good day for my pup because they were so overcrowded and again that was after approving my appointment request. This put me in a bad predicament because I had work being done at my house in which my pup couldn't be there during. Beware before you pay these folks. read more

I recently had an extremely alarming experience with my pug puppy at dogtopia. He came home after a day of daycare and began violently vomiting. Eventually throwing up pieces of blanket. I rushed him to the vet where he continued to throw up. He had ingested shredded blanket pieces. When I called dogtopia I spoke to the manager Sara. Her response was "well he needs to be able to be in the room and not eat blanket". She never apologized or asked how my puppy was. Thank goodness my puppy was ok, 1000 dollars later. But he could have died had this caused a blockage. Dogs eat things, this is why many of us don't leave our pups unattended. I am very concerned that something worse could happen to another dog while in their care. read more

The first time I left my dog at Dogtopia in New Rochelle for the day I was watching the cameras. I was told dogs are never crated for more than 10 minutes and just in the time I was watching, my dog was crated for an entire half hour until I eventually called them, livid that my dog had been treated that way. I was told that she was humping other dogs. I have taken my dog to many dog parks and she has never once humped another dog. Anyway the manager called me and justified their treatment of my dog instead of apologizing. I wrote it off as an isolated incident and moved on. Fast forward to a year later and the day after hurricane Ida. My dog was booked into daycare for the day and even though there was a hurricane the night before, I did not have the liberty of taking the day off. I kept checking emails in the morning to make sure I didn't miss an important notification from Dogtopia but since I did not receive any notification I went ahead and drove through. Due to the hurricane and road closures it took me 3 hours to get there (I live 20 minutes away) and upon arrival am told by the owners that daycare is closed for the day. They tell me that they have boarding dogs for the day but not accepting day care due to having lost power. So I asked the female owner Jerry if there was a notification or email sent out and she basically yells at me that I should have called. Feeling hopeless I explain my situation to her and her husband and express that I have no idea what to do since I can't go home to leave my dog and then drive back to work. The male owner then grabs my dog's leash from me without saying a word and the woman proceeds to yell at me 'if you don't pick her up at exactly 5pm you'll find her in the shelter'. She then even tells me it's the shelter around the corner and again says if I don't return for her at 5pm they'll leave her there. I called corporate to tell them about this horrible experience with the extremely rude and volatile owners. After this Jerry called me and again yelled at me and pretended like I misunderstood everything that morning and spoke to me in a harsh and condescending tone. I will never take my dog back to Dogtopia. The owners are rude and obviously do not at all care about dogs. read more

During our dog's recent stay, the staff recognized symptoms of bloat, a difficult to diagnose and frequently fatal condition, and rushed him for emergency care. Jonathan, the highly empathic handler who cared for Brady that day, sensed intuitively that something was amiss and was critical in saving our pet's life. Sarah, the manager, arranged immediate evaluation by our vet, who confirmed her diagnosis; Paul, the owner of the kennel, personally transported our dog to the vet and to emergency care in order to facilitate immediate treatment. I have never experienced a WORSE but absolutely WORSE service in my dog's life. I made an appointment on Saturday and took my dog on Monday for a wash and trim including cutting nails and ear cleaning. The lady who was at the reception was quite kind and wrote down the instructions which were among others to NOT trim the ears and the whiskers. Then this lady left and another - Sarah, the manager - came in yanked the small 6 pound dog in and asked what there was to do. To which I responded that the dog was having a light trim but I that I had given a complete list of instructions to the previous lady, please follow them. She was so rude I left having a knot in my stomach. The dog is small and she was dragging her being totally uncaring. This was not a way to treat a minuscule doggy who in fact is extremely friendly and loves people/ I came back to pick up the dog in the afternoon: the ears are trimmed despite the request to not trim them; so were the whiskers; and the nails are not cut. On top of it, instead of apologizing for not following the very very clear instructions, she was rude and in fact horrible. I have never experienced this kind of service for my dog's care, or for that matter, anything else.There are many other places in Westchester where people actually care about the animals and do follow the instructions - avoid this one at all costs. read more
