Garlic knots were just okay...a little doughy but still flavorful. Salad was a basic salad. For my pasta I chose penne creamosa. It was pasta tossed with bacon, roasted garlic and basil. It was yummy. I did add some red pepper flakes as I like a little kick! I have not had the cheesecake yet. Service was just okay. It was a little slow and our waiter never checked on us. Mama's might have had a good Italian red sauce at one time but now it is really like watered down paste with very little seasoning. Really a sad experience. I've eaten here twice. The first time I had pizza and had a pretty good experience. This was during sandy, so over 10 years ago, I wasn't doing yelp reviews. I would have given this place a 4 or 5 star. Most recently I've had the chicken night special and cannot express enough disappointment. The only thing that keeps this review from not being 1 star is that they did not destroy the chicken breast. I got the breast of Ala zingara. As a cook myself, I know the artichokes were from a can, the peppers were from a jar, the food wasnt seasoned, the garlic knots were under salted, under seasoned (garlic and parm) and under cooked (needed 15 more min in my toaster). Cheesecake was an included dessert that was plain and ricotta based. It was fair at best, but lacked the richness of a cream cheese cheesecake. Going by the fact this this eatery is in business and is still doing well saddens me about the clientele that is paying exorbitant amounts of money for jarred and canned food on a plate. It's really not about the money as much as the acceptance that this is "dine out" food. Portions are good and service is good. Food is for sure subpar. Not yet disgusting, but disappointing. Next they will serve stouffers for $50pp, all you can eat. read more

Mamas of Copiaque is a must to go eat at. Their garlic knots are to die for and they keep filling the basket hot and a lot of garlic so good. Went with family and had such a great menu, they have chicken night pasta night and now in Nov will have steak night. When you eat here there is so much food that you can't finish so you will have left overs for next day to enjoy. The chicken parm was so delicious I can get this everyday and comes with side order or pasta. On special nights you get salad , entree , cheese cake ans coffee all for one price. Visit here for dinner , drinks or just pizza and sit in the restaurant and listen to Italian music as if you were in Italy. They treat you like family the staff are professional and greet you with a smile . You feel like you are home having a home cooked meal from nonna. Love this place. I've driven by Mama's thousands of times and never eaten here until now, a Monday. Pasta night! For $20.95 you get garlic knots, house salad, pasta entree, cheesecake, and coffee or tea. Not a bad deal at all. The garlic knots were good - fresh, hot and soft. The salad was eh. The balsamic dressing was not good and did nothing for the salad. I ordered the Penne Alla Antonio - penne pasta, chicken in a pink creamy sauce. I actually liked this and would order it again. Big portion too. I haven't eaten the cheesecake yet, as I took it to go but from the looks of it I don't expect anything spectacular. I hear this place is not the same since new ownership. But I can't speak to that. Had an amazing dining experience today on a lovely Friday evening for a birthday dinner. We were blessed to have Greg as our waiter. Our group was a bit complex with two adults with special needs. Greg went above and beyond and provided gold standard customer service. Our family always has anxiety when dining in public in fear of being judged, misunderstood, and looked at by other patrons. Greg made us feel extremely welcomed and our uncertainty was at ease. His kindness and compassion toward our family shined bright. Greg accommodated every single special need our family required with a smile, he even went above and beyond by personally purchasing a bottle of A1 steak sauce from the grocery store next door to accommodate my autistic brothers needs because the restaurant didn't have any. As always, Mamas of copaigue has the freshest food with generous portions. We never walk out disappointed with our left overs for lunch the next day. Greg made our family birthday dinner by allowing dinner specials to be served from years prior, which was so appreciated. In addition, their desert menu and choices of coffees does not disappoint. Their cakes as just as fresh as the food and they have a sweet treat for all to enjoy. Overall, giving Mamas 10/10 will return in the future and you should dine there as well. The place may have good food and I have heard that it DOES But what worries me is what the kitchen may look like... what health code violations there are.. and how unsanitary they can really be. Went to Mama's with a big group of 7 girls tonight for Monday Pasta Night and had a blast. For just over $20 you get garlic knots, a salad, a HUGE plate of pasta, and cheesecake with coffee or tea. Hi! My family ordered from Mama's Copiague. We ordered a cheese pie to be a little well done... when we opened the pizza box, parts of the cheese were barely melted and the crust was not cooked at all. It was completely unappetizing. This was the 1st time I have ever had to call a restaurant back and ask what happened. The girl answering the phone said she put the order in for lightly baked! I asked why... because we like it well done and asked for it that way. She admitted that it was her mistake and to come back for a NEW pie. A little inconvenient but okay. A few minutes later she calls back and wants us to bring back the undercooked pie which I thought was weird. So I sent my partner back for the new pie... instead of a new pie... they take the pie and heat it up. Now at this point it's over an hour old when we wanted a fresh pie... it was then heated up in the oven after we handled it. (My 4 year old tried it before we brought it back and didn't even take 2 bites) I'm completely grossed out and upset. Now I call back again and speak to management Sammy who I told him to check the history of my orders. I have never once asked for an undercooked cheese pie! We even ordered from them yesterday and it was fine. He said he would give me a credit, but what good is the credit if I won't be going back there. We had some fried calamari and i have to say it was ok. Many restaurants are not using fresh calamari, which is really sad. But i have to say their sauce was very good. So i had the mamas veal"great". Everything was super fresh, good and a decent portion. The customer service was good, it could be better. Came here for lunch on a Wednesday. The restaurant is very large, dimly lit and cozy. There is also an area for pizza. The service was very quick and friendly. Everything came out very quick, hot and fresh. They give you a huge basket of garlic knots for the table. They were warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with the perfect cheesy seasoning on the outside. The food was very good, flavored very well, and a lot of it! On Mondays they have a pasta special 20.95 includes a pasta dish ( there most be over 40 dishes to chose from ) A House salad, garlic knots (addictive ), cheesecake and coffee for desert I went with the linguine and clams. We were a party of 6 for my parents anniversary last night. I wish I remembered the waiters name (45 ish year old gentleman). I think his name was Greg (off my bill). He Attended to our every need. Dishes were rigatoni Bella Vita (with bay scallops, lobster, shrimp in a cream sauce), stuffed shrimp and pork is osso bucco from the specials. We also had their hot antipasto combo for the table.
