First thing we ordered were the chicken jhol momos and needless to say that these are the best momos I've had. They were so flavourful and such a good balance between umami, salty, spicy, and a bit of sour. The Hakka house chow mein had all the classic flavours that we know and love. One thing I'll say about this, to be nit picky, is that I wish there were slightly more protein - but no complaints otherwise. The app platter was a great way to try all the popular non veg apps and the lollipop chicken by far was the fan favourite. Juicy, flavourful, tender - it was honestly so good we could eat just that. The Manchurian chicken was also amazing, slightly spicy and super flavourful. Last but not least, the mango lassi was your standard one: sweet and slightly tart. When I went to pay, I noticed that I have been charged the more expensive item for their seafood combo. I brought it up with the server and she initially mentioned that it was due to tax being applied. I argued again and explained clearly that it cannot be due to the tax and that I was clearly charged the higher rate. After some more arguing and back and forth which was accentuated more due to the problem with communication from their end, she then just mentioned that the seafood combo was just priced that way with the machine. I still did not accept this reasoning but decided to pay for the higher-priced false advertising seeing that the conversation was just going nowhere.

It takes elements of Indian cuisine and Chinese cuisine to generate a unique style. I ordered the vegetable chili momo. (Momo are similar to dim sum steamed dumplings, but have different fillings.) These momo contained a tasty vegetable blend in a chili sauce with vegetables. My husband ordered chicken pakora as an appetizer and chicken biryani for his entree. I didn't try the pakora, but they came with a sweet chili sauce (almost tasted like red bell pepper was blended in too) that was awesome. Then came our entrees. The spices were expertly balanced, so you could taste many of them. Sometimes with related cuisines (Indian and Chinese) they don't seem able to do that. Really tasty. The entrees were also damn hot. Ok, according to my brother-in-law, they usually ask what degree of heat you want, but they forgot to do this and gave us what is standard for Nepali folks. (Or...Maybe I'm dumb ordering a dish with the word "chili" in it...Still though, it was damn hot.) My husband and I both like really spicy food, so that was great. It's been a while since I had food hot enough to make my face red and my eyes tear up. Dang, Nepali people must be tough folks. Anyway, I like super-spicy food, but if that isn't your thing, make sure to let them know. My husband's gastrointestinal system doesn't like hot food (even though he does). I hope he doesn't explode our toilet. Other stuff to note: we tried suja, which is butter tea - tea with butter, milk and salt. I had Tibetan butter tea years ago but it had sugar. This had no sugar (I thought it would have sugar along with the salt). I think it would be good on a really cold day (like drinking a buttery broth) but I wasn't really into it (same for my husband). One small thing that annoyed us a little bit was that for one order of naan, you get one piece of naan. The naan was really good (we got butter naan), but just be aware of this. We will return, because it was very good! It looks like a lot of people don't know about this hidden gem of Erie, and we would like it to stay there. Please try it out!

The roast duck was cooked ok, the eggplant pot was comforting, but sauce and flavor were not rich enough, but kids love the beef noodle dish. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but none of the dishes stood out as particularly memorable or unique. Service was pleasant, and the restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere, but based on our experience, it was good rather than exceptional.

The fish with 1000-year-old egg congee was top notch; the fish was gently cooked, and the amt. of preserved egg was appropriate. The congee base was strong and appropriately thick without it being stiff. The corn and taro congee had a bit less flavor. The pea pod leaf vegetable was nicely stir-fried and retained a lot of heat. My reservation is usually that the veggie becomes too oily, but this time it seemed okay. The stir-fried beef with button mushrooms was top notch; the beef was tender, and the button mushrooms provided textural contrast to the beef. The beef tendon was also really soft, in a really nice way. The shrimp with egg rice noodle is always a classic, egg gently used as a sauce and the noodle with an appropriate bite to it. The place closes down (i.e. the patrons have to leave by 9p) at 9p, which makes for a bit of a rushed dinner, so beware.
