I had amazing veal parm! The red sauce is a delicious. The portions are huge. I had 3 meals from my dinner.

The staff are very nice. The pizza was good. The Italian was good, but it's odd they way they prep it. The lettuce and tomatoes are placed separate from the bread meat and cheese. (See pic.) They give you packets of mayo for you to add yourself. While it was good, this is just a warning that if you get one for takeout, you need to sit at a table or risk making a mess on yourself if you sit in your car. It came with fries. Good prices. They offer Italian dressing for the hoagie. I accepted so I could try it. I thought that was a different idea! It's really good! read more

Since our favorite Italian place in Englewood wasn't open, we decided to try Mama's since it's really close. We did takeout on a Saturday night. We ordered: Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo. HUGE portion! It was ok. We would prefer a bit more alfredo sauce as it seemed a bit "dry." It was also a little bland. Also ordered the meatballs. they were good, but a bit pricy for 2 small meatballs in a ton of sauce ($14 for 2- approx 2" meatballs. We did give our neighbors a gift card for the restaurant and they had pizza from there and really enjoyed it! We will give them another try and order something different. read more

What a great little place! Our server, Karen, was a delight - she was forthright and answered all our questions about what was good and what to maybe skip. We appreciated the honesty. She brought our beef barley soup out very quickly (and it was delicious) and knew exactly when to bring out our entrees. The seafood pasta was great and the grilled chicken topped chef's salad was fresh and a perfect lighter dinner. Highly recommend. read more

Bruce is the Italian in the family, growing up in Philly. I grew up with Mexican food & cook it myself, which seems to be the only way to get decent MX food here in SW Florida and yes I am including the food trucks. We heard from our neighbors who are from Cape Cod that Mamas had good pizza, so we ordered a pizza last week & it was very good, much better than expected. I told Bruce the restaurant was nice & cute inside & full of happy people, so we should go sometime. We went last week & Bruce had baked ravioli with a side of meatballs. I had the chef's salad with a side of Italian sausage. We kept a little bit aside to take home for Jack. Bruce gives this Italian food "thumbs up" and said the tastes were good - good gravy, very good meatballs. He enjoyed his ravioli (which is his go-to dish) but wondered if they were home-made. I thought the sausage was probably a very good Italian brand. The chef's salad was fresh with plenty of ham, cheese, pepperoni, and olives. It was iceberg lettuce but this is a home-style restaurant. Mama's is very popular in Englewood & everyone was very glad they'd re-opened after Hurricane Ian. The food is an excellent value and quality for the money. It's very difficult to get decent Italian food in our area despite the fact that 100% of downtown Venice is one Italian restaurant after another. Mama's is home style Italian food, the pizza is very good quality and you won't be disappointed by overpriced, underprepared, poor food. We're pretty short on this type of restaurant in our area and we will be back when we have a hankering for pizza or Italian food! read more

It was a Friday early evening. Very crowded. We were a party of six adults and we were seated at a round table close to the bar. Very noisy and very little space to move around. The food was OK but not great. We have all had better meals at Mama's. Just a little disappointed on this occasion. Maybe just an off night for the kitchen. The tables were clean and neat. Got the Chicken Marsala. Spaghetti was overcooked to the point it was mush. Zero flavor, honestly the worst Marsala I have ever tasted. I am not convinced they used Marsala wine at all. House salad with ranch - cucumbers and tomatoes were not fresh, starting to rot. Mozzarella sticks were excellent, best I have had in a while. Overall, portions were large but taste and quality were extremely lacking. If you want cheap Italian food with large portions, this is your place. read more

Good, not fussy Italian food in an energetic atmosphere. Wait staff is kind and courteous.

Great service, huge portions, good selection, prices can't be beat. And all very well cooked. Locals favorite for good reason.

It's a nice place to go and have dinner. We didn't have to wait to sit. The environment is really good. Food is tasty. Good sangria, nothing special on the mozzarella. The baked pasta was good. The Alfredo sauce is delicious (I have a Alfredo sauce recipe in my YouTube channel if you want to), maybe a little more chicken for the plate portion and this dish would nailed it! Stopped by for lunch, this restaurant has been remodeled after the storm,somewhat spacious and modern, exhibiting a bright no frills environment. Lunch time was crowded and ambience extremely loud or should I say deafening, service was not the best probably due to the crowd. now that I got that out of the way the food is superb, no need to elaborate. A limited bar serving beer and wine is available. I have eaten dinner here a number of times and never have been disappointed seemed to me it was a little quieter, give it a shot, the food is excellent. Tongue and cheek the noise is free. read more

Large chicken breast lots of fresh mishrooms and delicious lemon butter sauce. 1 lb NY sirloin cooked to perfection, little too much gristle for me, but husband loved it and a steal for $23.99. I was hearing a lot of great things about Mama's so I was excited to give it a shot. I hate giving low star reviews but my expectations were not met. Started with a 10' pizza and asked for half cheese half sausage pepper & onions. They brought out half cheese half pepperoni sausage and onion? Not a big deal- it was still really good. I got the eggplant parm since a couple reviews stated it was delicious. It really was the worst eggplant parm I've ever had. I hate to be rude but it was disgusting. My boyfriend got the ravioli and it was good. Not great or something to bring us back to get again. Our server was super friendly but she seemed stressed and rushed. I have to say that this is a hidden gem in Englewood that some may pass up. The only give away is that the parking lot is packed, but the building is unassuming and you may likely pass right by without giving it a glance. The menu is solid, with an $18.99 16oz steak with sides that are equally great. The meat was seasoned perfectly and grilled yo my desired medium rare.
