    Regular fried chicken plate
    Jojo A.

The blue food truck is on the corner of Lauko Street & Akoki Street. They are open 6:00 am until 1:30 pm. Street parking available. I ordered the regular fried chicken plate. It came with 2 big pieces of chicken, two scoop of rice topped with furikake & a scoop of Mac salad. The plate was heavy and the food was delicious. Staff was very friendly and also gave me a stamp card. Service was fast. They have a lot of affordable plates for breakfast & lunch to choose from with a choice of mini or regular. They also have spam musubi, Manapua & pork hash. They only take card, no cash. Definitely coming back to try other things on the menu like the adobo fried rice & loco moco.

Five stars for quality and selection of food able to withstand the heat during shabu shabu AYCE. Tan tan broth has a spicy kick, yet quite addicting. Shellfish miso broth is tasty and ideal for those seeking mild palate. Four stars for quality and selection of meats in Yakiniku section. Banchan tasted alright. I really didn't have any favorites. Galbi pieces were sliced perfectly for grilling. Savory marination tasted delicious! Beef brisket was quick to grill and easy to eat. Honey garlic chicken and marination tasted fabulous! Beef bulgogi had too much gristle or fat in between the beef. Bye AYCE Yakiniku! Hello to combos and ala cartes moving forward. Modern ambiance and lighting works well in both areas. Lots of free parking. Zen garden has a calming effect.

However, with the recent price change and the shift from all-you-can-eat to à la carte, my husband and I will most likely reconsider dining on the Yakiniku side. The Yakiniku experience is great for large family dinners and gatherings, but with the current pricing, it can become quite expensive, especially when ordering enough food for a larger group. We still love the restaurant and will definitely continue enjoying Shabu-Shabu, but the new Yakiniku pricing may make it harder for us to visit as regularly as we used to.

It comes with the beef and a couple pieces of shrimp tempura. The two ontama eggs were additional toppings. Let's start with the beef. The beef is similar to eating the beef in sukiyaki. The beef is shredded thin so that you can taste the marinade. They also give you a good portion of beef. It's not filled with rice and a thin layer of meat on top. Quite the opposite. More meat than rice. The shrimp tempura is good. It's not like the shrimp tempura that you would find in a good Japanese restaurant with tentsuyu dipping sauce. It's as good or better than the shrimp tempura you can buy at Marukai or Don Quijote. It comes with the beef sukiyaki drizzle? It's good. The ontama eggs are perfect. Nice and runny when you break the yolk. It just pairs so well with the beef sauce. So yummy. Yelp deleted couple of my photos. I really hate that you can't share all the photos you took with my fellow yelpers. You take the time to review and take photos that I feel should be uploaded. One photo was for a 10% discount for students, military and senior citizens. With the cost of food nowadays, it's good to know that there are restaurants like this one out there willing to give discounts to those who could use it. I appreciate it very much and it needed to be included in my review. The other was for a stamp card. Make 10 purchases of either the rice bowl, curry or udon and get a $5 discount card. This discount helps those who aren't students, military or senior citizens. Thank you for the discounts. We all appreciate them. Tatsuo who was working behind the counter was very friendly and personable. I'm pretty sure he's from Japan because of his accent. The way he treated me felt like he was the owner and very accommodating. I didn't have to go up to get my food. He brought it to me. Very good service. Oh my wife had the shrimp tempura udon. I can't tell you how good it was as i couldn't get to taste it. Sigh. My wife ate it all. I guess it must have been really good. No free samples. Lol. The place was pretty empty so it was quiet when we were there. Couple guys came in to take out. I'm guessing they have more take out than dine In. If you like sukiyaki and shrimp tempura, please give them a try. If you have similar taste buds to mine, you will really enjoy the meal there. Oh and when you go, say hi to Tatsuo. Tell him you heard good things about him on yelp. Enjoy.

We recently dined in with them and we haven't dined with them since pre-COVID so it was a huge shift. They don't have the bowls anymore that they used to, it's in their take out bowls. The chairs were kinda ripped, at least the long tables we were on. They may need to turn up their AC bc it was very warm. Other than that, food is still very yummy. I love the specials. No complaints about staff. I have tried pretty much everything on the menu and my go to has been mini beef ontama rice bowl w/ Teri sauce or the veggie tempura beef rice bowl. My daughters love their beef udon. It's also a bonus that they're not one of those companies that "charge for the cup" when it comes to water. ^___^
