Since we moved from Town to Kapolei, wife and I have been wanting an authentic sushi type place and we stumbled upon Yoichi owner of Sushi Koh. Parking is small but plenty other spots you can park by and walk over and place fits a total of about 8-10 people. We didn't make reservations and was able to get a seat for two. Menu had a lot of choices from Specials, Ngiris, Handrolls, Donburi's, and Dessert. Service is a little slow as he is the only person running the show giving you that personal connection with him that the wife and I didn't mind waiting. He was making everything to order and I eat a lot so I was making him work that the day we went in. Food was great! Fish was fresh, and the size portion for the prices was shockingly reasonable especially when you get his donburi. Ambiance was great, the place is very small that conversations flow through each guest and food is so good that everyone will be talking to each other asking what they ordered and that the order looks tasty. Overall experience with Yoichi at Sushi Koh was great that the wife and I will be stopping in more and not having to drive to town for some authentic sushi. read more

A true hidden gem in Waipahu! Sushi Koh is an authentic Japanese restaurant tucked between K's Bento and Heart to Table, with fewer than 10 seats--so it feels incredibly intimate. The fish was high quality, but what really made the experience special was Chef Ito. He's incredibly talented, warm, and friendly. Sitting at the counter felt like we were right in his kitchen with our own personal chef. Chef Ito also makes his own desserts, and they rotate depending on what's available. Went on August 31, have some patience as it is a one man show doing everything. Had Negitoro and Salmon bowls that was amazing. Chutoro sashimi was to die for. The restaurant was clean, and the fish was delicious. My first visit was during his lunch hours (1130-2). Got there right at 1130 and there was only one other party there. I had a negitoro & ahi don and uni nigiri! So good. It also came with miso soup and fresh wasabi . The owner was friendly and down to Earth. Enjoyed talking story with him! I also appreciated that he didn't force himself upon us with small talk. He let us eat our lunch in peace first lol. The prices were shockingly reasonable for the quality. My other half ordered an omakase bowl for just $12, and it was fresh, beautifully prepared, and honestly a steal compared to most sushi bar spots in town. He had us try seasonal special dishes and you could tell was EXTREMELY talented, passionate about what he does, & knowledgeable. This one of the best places i've ever been to in my life. Just found out about this place from a fellow Yelper. Decided to go around lunch time after doing errands. It's located next to Heart 2 Table restaurant and K's Bento-ya. Walked in and it was a small restaurant, seats about 8 customers! Kinda reminded me of the Golden Gai bars in Japan, which I enjoyed because you get the attention of the sushi chef! And lucky me I was the only customer! I ordered the omakase because I couldn't make up my mind on what to eat! I recently tried Sushi Koh and it is such a chilled, laid back sushi spot. It is the kind of place you go when you want really high quality fish without the high end price tag or stiff atmosphere. The uncle chef runs the whole place by himself, which honestly makes the experience even better. He is super funny, loves to talk story, and makes you feel like you are just hanging out at his kitchen counter. The sushi was premium and surprisingly reasonable for the quality. We just tried this small locally run sushi place in Waipahu and were very pleasantly surprised at how fresh the fish and other sushi items were. We had their ten piece $12.00 nigiri lunch special and all the items were delicious. It came with miso soup and was well worth the price.
