A true hidden gem in Waipahu! Sushi Koh is an authentic Japanese restaurant tucked between K's Bento and Heart to Table, with fewer than 10 seats--so it feels incredibly intimate. The fish was high quality, but what really made the experience special was Chef Ito. He's incredibly talented, warm, and friendly. Sitting at the counter felt like we were right in his kitchen with our own personal chef. Chef Ito also makes his own desserts, and they rotate depending on what's available. The hoji-cha cheesecake was AMAZING! I can't wait to go back and see what dessert he has next. Definitely looking forward to another visit!

The food and service were so so amazing! The space was cute, and maybe fits around 10 people. Call in advance to make reservations. I cannot wait to visit again!

Went on August 31, have some patience as it is a one man show doing everything. Had Negitoro and Salmon bowls that was amazing. Chutoro sashimi was to die for. We also had two Chutoro nigiri, but better value getting the sashimi. Chef Ito is very friendly and easy to talk to making the experience enjoyable. Hidden gem in Waipahu that should not be hidden!

Hidden little gem in Waipahu. Unassuming looking Sushi bar on the outside nested between K's Bento and Heart to Table. Owner Yoichi is the sushi maker and runs everything by himself in the clean and cozy sushi bar. I stumbled on this place looking for lunch and found out they do takeout. I ordered a couple of poke bowls to go. Poke made with sashimi quality ahi. Yoichi was friendly, informative and accommodating. He allowed me to make a fish substitution in my poke bowl. Poke bowls tasted fresh and flavorful. Will definitely be back.

Thank you to Chef Yoichi! Lots of fresh, unique fish including local bluefin, fatty sardine, and orange sea bream! Thoughtful preparation and delicious nigiri. Dessert special hojicha cheesecake with mandarin orange was creative, surprising, and well balanced. We can't wait to come back!

Sushi Koh is the best omakase Ive had in Central Oahu. The sushi chef is very friendly and knowledgeable. The omakase is 130 per person for sashimi, (12) piece nigiri, uni and ikura chawanmushi, salmon skin salad, and dessert. All of the fish is fresh, and the chef creates a unique experience or flavor for each piece or dish. I am definitely returning here, and trying some of the bowls.

Fresh sushi! Chef Ito is very knowledgeable in his craft. First time here and can't wait to come back :)

So excited for a new sushi spot! ...and in Waipahu at that! Sushi Koh is located right next to K's Bento (another Waipahu treasure!). If you're not familiar with Waipahu, this spot is going to be very hole-in-the wall type for you . It's small- we're talking 6-seater small, and a one man show, but I loved the intimate setting. The restaurant was clean, and the fish was delicious. My first visit was during his lunch hours (1130-2). Got there right at 1130 and there was only one other party there. I had a negitoro & ahi don and uni nigiri! So good. It also came with miso soup and fresh wasabi . The owner was friendly and down to Earth. Enjoyed talking story with him! I also appreciated that he didn't force himself upon us with small talk. He let us eat our lunch in peace first lol. Also, we were a little surprised to hear him speak in Japanese with his other customers, so there's also that if you need it . Parking can be tight- there's about 3 stalls right up front? Otherwise you can park right across the street Can't wait to go back for dinner!

Great sushi, friendly chef, in an excellent atmosphere. Sits eight all at the bar, up close and personal, yet still feels chill. Will be back, p.s. BYOB.

Waipahu' New Hidden Gem Sushi Koh just opened in September 2025, and it's already easily one of Waipahu's best-kept secrets. Tucked right next to K's Bento and Heart to Table, this tiny sushi bar seats only eight people total, giving it an intimate, personal feel you don't find often anymore. We went as a family of seven, and even though the place is small, the seating felt cozy rather than cramped. They take reservations, and we were able to call just a few hours ahead to book a 7pm spot--which was super convenient. Another bonus: it's BYOB, which made the night even better. The prices were shockingly reasonable for the quality. My other half ordered an omakase bowl for just $12, and it was fresh, beautifully prepared, and honestly a steal compared to most sushi bar spots in town. If you love trying new local spots before they get popular, Sushi Koh is absolutely worth checking out. Amazing value, fresh ingredients, and such a welcoming vibe. Can't wait to go back!

Best quality fish and service I've ever had! We went here for Mother's Day (party of seven, restaurant fits eight), and we will certainly be back. Chef is sweet and has a great sense of humor. Glad we found a high-quality sushi restaurant for a more than affordable price!

Abalone & i'm sorry i forgot the name of this sashimi as well- the owner recommended! was amazing & once again melts in your mouth.

I seriously never write reviews on Yelp, but this place is AMAZING. It was the most authentic Japanese sushi i've ever had. We were the only ones in there, and the owner is the one who runs the sushi bar & makes the sushi. He was so cool and made the experience even better. He had us try seasonal special dishes and you could tell was EXTREMELY talented, passionate about what he does, & knowledgeable. This one of the best places i've ever been to in my life. The quality is incredible and it straight melts in your mouth. The sauces were incredible. Everything was truly amazing. It was one of the coolest places i've ever tried or been to- please go here. Also because I work in senior care- anyone who has older Japanese parents too or want something super authentic this would be perfect. The abalone was still alive right before he prepared it. He let me keep the shell. Go here and ask him about the dishes- definitely 100000/10 and a hole in the wall.

To start, all beers on tap were down so had to go with bottled. My orchid cocktail was yummy, we ordered edamame and poke nachos for apps and they were okay, nothing crazy. For our main dishes my dad tried the ultimate ahi trio and for $10 per piece, totaled to $90 he said it was nice to try but wouldn't get again. My mom ordered several rolls and other dishes, the rolls did come in good portion sizes and noted the firecracker roll was spicy. I ordered the wafu steak which was tender but rather chewy, most of the flavor came from the garlic sauce. I expected more from wagyu steak, it did come with 10oz though. My yakitori chicken and green onion was TERRIBLE, it's like they just slapped on sauce to cover how dry the chicken was. The green onion was very skinny and small as well. I only had two pieces before I took it to go. By the time we ate all of that my mom's wagyu friend rice finally came 45 minutes after we ordered and ate all the main meats and fish. It was kind of disappointing because we planned to eat the fried rice along with the other dishes. I will say the presentation of it was fun, they stirred the rice and mixed it in front of us with a hot plate and it would've done well paired with the other dishes. The service was fine, our server was very nice so I have no complaints. But for the total of $280 the food in general wasn't anything special and I did expect more for the taste. Nothing was notably bad (except the chicken) but nothing stood out either.

We mentioned to the waitstaff that it was our first visit, but unfortunately, we didn't receive much guidance and the initial interaction felt rather abrupt. Ordering is done either through an iPad-style menu or by scanning a QR code on your phone. I appreciated that they offered gluten-free soy sauce, and another staff member was kind enough to answer a few of my questions, but overall, we were pretty much left to figure out the ordering system on our own. Once we ordered, our food arrived very quickly via the conveyor system. The presentation was definitely aesthetically pleasing, but I was surprised by the sushi rice, which was noticeably brown and seemed to be seasoned or marinated with something. The waitress assured me there was no soy sauce in it, but I'm accustomed to traditional nigiri with white sushi rice, so I decided not to eat it. The ambiance is chill and casual, but service from the live staff was on the slower side. As for the sushi itself, the fish was just okay --I've definitely had better. Pricing was reasonable at around $100 for three people, so that was a plus. Overall, this place just wasn't my cup of tea. I'm glad we gave it a try, but I probably won't be rushing back.
