Delicious food. We had the Mezza & chicken shawarma plates. Both gluten free without the tabbouleh. The grape leaves were the best I've ever had. They even have GF pita! Menu is marked for items that are not GF, but still chat with your server if you are sensitive! Fun decor & enjoyed the Arabic music. Heated outside seating available.

We tried this lovely, bright, airy little Middle Eastern restaurant in the N Williams neighborhood for the first time. It's been on my list for a while. We loved their food! The flavors were delightful-fresh and tasty. Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall a great experience to enjoy with friends. Here's what we ate: -Chicken Kabobs with rice, salad and Toom sauce (which is made by emulsifying garlic, lemon, & olive oil into a butter-like substance to spread on your meat or dip pita in). -Lamb Kabob with rice, salad and Toom sauce -Lamb shank with rice & salad -Gyro & salad The meat had great flavor. My chicken had onions skewered between. The salad had a bright dressing (probably lemon & olive oil) and was a nice fresh component to my meal. If you haven't tried Toom, you need to. Unless you don't like garlic. It is very garlicky! My husband really enjoyed his lamb kabob, our friend loved his lamb shank, which came with a comforting broth (see the picture) and our other friend loved her gyro. It was quite large, as gyros go! I really wanted to try their knafe for dessert but they didn't have any, sadly. We definitely plan to be back though!

This place is AMAZING!!! I'm always on the hunt for a good middle eastern food spot and this place is absolutely going to be a new go to. The inside of the restaurant is a smaller, cozier vibe restaurant. We were greeted by staff who were extremely friendly and helpful with the menu! We started off with the fries and a hummus plate. Hummus was okay, nothing special and that's more than okay but the fries were really delicious and they serve TOUM ketchup which I have never even heard of but the combination of garlic sauce and ketchup was genius! My date had the chicken shawarma plate and I had the combo meat mix plate. The meat was amazing!!! And the rice and salad was so tasty. Absolutely love this place!!

When one sees a rating of 4.7 on Yelp it's usually safe to assume that the place is quite good all around. Unfortunately that is not always the case. I ordered food on GH from Mamma Khouri's today and it's probably gonna be a one and done for me. The food was just OK and not nearly worth ordering again when there are many other better options available for good Mediterranean food. I ordered the Vegan mezza plate, arnabeet, lentil soup and fries. Arnabeet is a favorite of mine and this one was tasty. The hummus and baba ghanoush were also tasty but the amount given was paltry for the price charged. The lentil soup was watery and blaaah. The fries were soggy and bland. I also didnt care for the soggy grape leaves or the very crunchy falafel. I'm quite familiar with Mediterranean food, having enjoyed this particular cuisine from many, many different places. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mamma Khouri's is a 3 star for me.

A surprising detour led us to an amazing Mediterranean place. We tried this place on a weekend. It wasn't much crowded and the staff was welcoming and nice. The ambiance is vibrant with lot of plants and medieval style. We ordered the mezza plate, chicken kabob, fries, and some hot tea which was mint flavored. Everything was perfect and delicious. We really loved the food. Would definitely recommend this place if you are craving for some Mediterranean cuisine.

I met a friend here for supper on a Thursday. They had some good traffic and the wait staff was super friendly. The toum is so good! The lamb was tender and very well seasoned. They were out of rice I'm afraid, but the hummus was really good. I highly recommend the mezza, as you can try most of their appetizers. We will definitely be back

Really good Mediterranean food and a go-again spot. Service was good. I could see this being a hit lunch spot, because when we went in there at dinner time, it was empty. Music was great. Really caught a vibe. Would definitely go here again.

Soooo amazing I can't wait to come back:) We only ate desserts lol but they exceeded any expectations I had 1000% and service was very kind and polite. Decor of the restaurant is also very aesthetically pleasing!

Again... I had A fabulous meal at Mama Khouris. This is a family run restaurant that really knows how to put love in their recipes. Every bite is exquisite. Presentation is fabulous. I highly recommend the mezza platter in which you can have a taste of a potpourri of Middle Eastern delicacies. The service is wonderful and attentive. A very friendly lovely place to eat. Highly recommended!

Family owned, family friendly, tasted like home cooking! Not the most appetizing look when opening the to-go tray but at least packaging is recyclable. Shawarma $16.95 ~ packed with tasty flavors, a little kick, good rice texture. Puffed pita bread was fresh & chewy fun to eat.

The hummus tasted incredibly fresh, the tzatziki had a nice tangy kick, and the falafel balls were perfectly crispy and flavorful. For my main, I ordered the chicken breast kabob plate, which came with two skewers, rice, tzatziki, and garlic sauce. The chicken was incredibly tender and cooked just right. I was checking out friends' reviews on Yelp, and came across a review of Chef Agir Restaurant Bar…read more My friend gave a glowing review and I zoomed in on a couple of pictures. On a picture of the menu, I saw that there were quite a few items that were vegan. The description of the food sounded delicious! I instantly wanted to check this Turkish restaurant out! I also immediately thought of friends that lived in the neighborhood! I messaged my friends telling them I wanted to try this place out. Now, most of my friends have busy schedules, so it takes quite a while to coordinate. As luck would have it, 3 of us were available this very day! We arranged to meet at 1:15ish. While waiting for my friends, I got some complimentary Turkish tea, it was quite good. Then I put in an order for the appetizer sampler plate. The order arrived just as my friends did. They actually walked to the restaurant. The appetizer sampler consisted of Ezme, Tarator, Muhammara and Eggplant salad. Three of the four items were vegan the Tarator contained yogurt. My favorite was the Muhammara. My friends enjoyed the shared appetizer. It came with pita bread, and when the basket was emptied, we were asked if we wanted more. For my entree, I ordered the vegan Tantuni wrap with oyster mushrooms. The flavor was outstanding! My friends were both loving what they ordered. A friend also got the turnip juice. Said it was an interesting flavor, was not expecting that. The ambiance was casual but inviting. The service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious! I definitely plan on coming back again!

I recently stopped into Chef Agir for an early dinner, and it was a fantastic experience from a pedestrian's perspective. This spot first caught my eye because of the vibrant mural by Christa Grimm on the west wall, which was recently highlighted in a City Cast Portland newsletter. It is a wonderful visual landmark for anyone walking along NE 13th. Inside, the atmosphere is welcoming and the service is exceptionally attentive. I had a great conversation with the staff about the restaurant's growth since opening six months ago. Highly recommended for those exploring the neighborhood on foot.

BEST MEAL IN PORTLAND!!!!!…read more Saw this place randomly while looking for a place to eat after a long flight. It was late and not many places were open. This place was closed but a middle eastern place that serves cheesecake was soo intriguing that i knew i needed to come back. Came back Saturday night and they had no tables and was packed. However, they tried to accommodate us so much. However, the night was in our favor. As we started to order take out, a lady was kind enough to give up her table since she was eating alone. It was a small table for 3 people but the staff was sooo accommodating i have no words. They even gave free dessert to the lady who was kind. Then luck would have it, the table next to us never showed up for their reservation so they gave us that table. Finally, we ordered. Turned out, i also got the last shawarma too. Everything happens for a reason! We also got the Saudi chicken kabsa and cheesecakes. The biggest compliment i can give is when the food came, none of us talked for a good 5-7 mins and just sat there in heaven eating. The flavors were soo unique but yet so familiar. If this is Saudi food, i have been missing out. I need to explore more sub categories of middle eastern cuisine. Best bites in Portland for us and that's all i have to describe our experience. Finally, got the Nutella cheesecake and almond caramel cheesecake. I have to say, Nutella was good but easily a skip compared to almond and caramel. Just get 2 of those and you'll be happy. The cakes itself are light and not heavy. They were great end to a great meal. This is a family owned but family loved business. You can see the love as they serve their guests but you can taste the love too. The people are soo sweet and kind and just want to serve you.
