While he cannot legally remedy the faults of one's vehicle when attempting to acquire smog certification (thanks Commiefornia!), he can explain in great detail what steps you -- as the owner -- need take to accomplish as much. Through his unmatched expertise and unwavering dedication to his customers, I was able to make the necessary repairs to pass my POS 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee! Woohoo! Had to smog my friends car at Mammoth. No local place did smog checks. Then I found Mammoth Smog that opened two weeks ago. I figured I was at their mercy as they were the only show in town. Much to my delight I met Julio (never met him before), the owner who not only handled my friends car in timely matter but was pleasant to work with, and responsive to my questions. He was very reasonable and certainly saved time and money by not having to travel out of Mammoth for a smog check. They do service there also, and when I asked if the car needed service, instead of telling me yes and having the ability of charging for a service call, he advised me that the car was in great condition and did not need any work including any oil change. Really appreciated his honestly and transparency. If there is only one place in Mammoth for smog checks we are lucky its Julio. read more

Drove up from Bishop as I refused to use a local technician who's well known for questionable, dishonest practices--no not at Chevron... I had planned to go to the Mammoth Chevron, having called the night before and told what time they would open the following day. When I arrived, surprise, I was told they no longer performed smogs! Urgh!!! As it turns out, it was the BEST thing that could have happened. Chevron gave me Julio's number and he got me right in. What a pleasant end to a bad start. Julio is simply wonderful to deal with. He does not charge any more--a few bucks less actually--and he's fair and extremely knowledgeable. He is a genuinely nice guy. Julio is a beast! Got my smog check in the freezing cold on a snowy day! When everyone else was at home warming by the fire this dude was helping us out! I drove up from Bishop because the Chevron here would not smog me because my ride was "to old" and that other place in Bishop we'll let's just say they didn't have the best reputation.
