Asian Market, how did I just realize that you existed? I've already been to Asian Market multiple…read moretimes in the past few weeks. It's dangerous that I pass it on the way home because when I have a bad day or want comfort food, I end up here. It has your basic Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese products. Anything from egg tarts to dumplings/gyoza to kimchi to natto to pho broth. They have a lot of canned/bottled drinks, like Thai tea, Yeo's soy milk, milk tea, coffee drinks. All the sauces you need. And of course the snacks many of us know from childhood, like prawn crackers or Marukawa bubble gum. For the size, I was very impressed with this cute little shop. It's clean and organized, well stocked, and they're so friendly there. Honestly, prices are also super reasonable. They could totally jack up prices more and get away with it, since it's the only shop of its kind in this area. So I decided on 5 stars because while I do wish they had more non-frozen actual food and more variety, for their size, they're doing the best that they can. You can't walk into a store this size and expect an H-Mart or Assi or Hong Kong Supermarket. And the fact that they appeal to all the Asians is pretty darn great for this side of Baton Rouge. Overall, I would highly recommend. Come here for snacks, dessert, or getting ingredients for cooking. Just beware. You might end up getting more junk food than you anticipated!

Wish I found them sooner, they have good line of Korean products in very reasonable price…read more Even less than market owned by Korean people

Vinh Phat Oriental Market is Baton Rouge's original Asian grocery and variety store! It is locally…read moreowned and operated, and clustered together with a number of other businesses that meet the needs of the Asian community. I love Vinh Phat because it is just packed to the walls with interesting products to explore. Of course there are every type of ingredient and condiment for Asian cooking, but there are also a wide variety of great fruits and vegetables that are both familiar and exotic. My favorite discovery are the Thai Bananas, these are are small but super flavorful (really inexpensive as well). There are a bewildering array of snacks, from crab chips to rice crackers (rice crackers are crunchy and addictive). Then there are sweets! The various Asian Kit-Kat flavors are always popular, Matcha Green Tea is amazing! There are so many types of candies and treats. Then there is the selection of teas, of which they have a big assortment. These range from the reputedly medicinal, many forms of green, and amazing selections of black teas. It should also be noted that there are many refrigerator and freezer cases full of products to consider. I'm a big fan of seaweed salad, simply thaw and eat. Then there are the dumplings, so many dumplings... There are a lot of easy to prepare options to explore, as well as frozen treats! Aside from all the foods, there are other things one should check out. These include housewares and other sundry goods. There are woks, cleavers, serving ware, teapots, and much more. One special item I recommend is the natural straw brooms. Seriously good for sweeping!

I love this place. They have tons of stuff you can't get anywhere else without ordering. Only 2…read morethings could make it better, a bigger store and located closer to Jefferson @ Bluebonnet

The carne asada taco was okay, too many onions for me, but still quite tasty. Some would probably be intimidated to eat here because it is a run-down food truck located next to a gas station near the Home Depot of Coursey & Cedarcrest. The service was friendly and fast. Eating there is not really recommended because there are just folding chairs, no tables. I would say the food was pretty authentic and I plan on going back, especially for those yummy pupusas. This might not be your first choice, but at least make it a choice; step out of your box and try something new!

I'm giving it 5 starts for the quality of the food only. I've traveled all over Mexico and these…read moreare the best carne asada and grilled chicken tacos I have ever had. Everyone has heard about my deep rooted love and obsession for tacos and food stands, so I wanted everyone else in Baton Rouge to find out about this gem of a shady but delicious food truck! The meat is charred crispy to perfection, without being dry. The doubled-up HANDMADE a corn tortillas are definitely the best tortillas I have ever tasted. (Hmm, wonder if I can get a whole pack to go?!) The pupusas are delicious too, and come topped with a pickled cabbage. My friend did order the pork tacos, thinking it was carnitas, but it was actually chicharrones (pork rind) and we didn't like that one so much. I TOLD her to let me order for her in Spanish, but she insisted on the pork before I had the chance to people rly ask WHAT type of pork...... And yes, it's best to order in Spanish. Just say "taco de carne asada" (beef steak) and "taco de pollo" (chicken) and how may and you should be set. I usually order 3. They are small but very filling. I could literally eat these everyday. There are 2-3 chairs to sit out at while waiting for your order, and the wait time is 4-8mins or so depending on how much you order but it's so worth it. They even give salsa to go. Ladies, please wear your wedding rings (or a fake one while you order) because there will most likely have a plethora of men ordering authentic Mexican food, waiting to propose to any unsuspecting lady who just wants to get her foodporn on and immediately dash to the comfort of their own home to indulge in these tasty treats. It is parked at the gas station near the Home Depot on Cedarcrest & Coursey. Coming from bluebonnet (with the CCs coffee house on your left) you will cross over working onto Coursey, and it's the second gas station on the right. If you're in the Home Depot parking lot, the gas station is directly in front of the store.
