The crew was great and nice but failed to tell us that they broke one of our wood steps while moving the furniture down the stairs. The way they packed out truck was horrible. Once I reached out to them it was horrible customer service and they didn't do anything to help or compensate us. Everyone of the movers were patient, kind and , polite, and courteous. At my age that's so much appreciated. Got to my new over 55 apartment which is a 4 story one unit. Elevator for them to use. Unfortunately, my very disorganized mover from Alabama made it impossible for me to use Doug's. I am writing this review because of Doug's flexibility, professionalism and wonderful communication. In the run up to the move, I contacted Doug's to book a team to get the tank off the truck. I was immediately contacted by Doug's with a confirmation of availability and the price. I was even given a cell phone to keep in touch on delivery day. As my Alabama mover got further and further behind schedule, I kept Doug's in the loop and they were able to adjust their team and promised me availability Until my Alabama mover made it impossible for Doug's to hold the team. The delivery window went from 2 to 8 to 12 hours late. Consequently, while I was unable to use Doug's, I would have no hesitation in contacting Doug's should the need ever arise again. The constant communication and adjustment to accommodate my disorganized Alabama mover was incredible. I hope I have the opportunity to use Doug's in the future.

Worst moving experience of my life.....and I've moved often…read more After a catastrophic summer of unemployment, I landed a job in Chicago. Money was beyond tight for me so I had to carefully choose a mover. I will never let $$ rule with that decision ever again after dealing with this company. When I hired Budget to do the move, the salesman assured me that a final inventory would be done prior to the move so I would know EXACTLY what the moving costs would be. That never happened and after numerous, frantic calls to them in the days just prior to the move, I finally found out that they had subcontracted my move, without my knowledge, to another company, Golden Movers (Clearwater, I believe). This is were the real nightmares begin. First, I was never contacted by this company prior to moving day. When I did finally speak to someone and asked about the final bill, I was told by the salesman not to worry; my move (a small move that did not include any bedroom furniture, sofas or appliances) was "tiny" and as such was probably well within the initial quote I had been given by BUdget Movers. Unsettling for sure. Day of the move arrives and I wait 5 (FIVE) hours on the movers. Call after call to the company went unanswered and I assumed my initial $1000.00 was lost in this scam. But finally, I did get someone to answer the phone and he told me the mover for my job had gotten "tied up with his wife" that morning but that they were on their way. I had no recourse out of this situation so I waited. They did show, the truck was loaded with my belongings and the journey to Chicago was finally underway. When they arrived in Chicago, I was handed a NEW BILL that was over DOUBLE what the original quote had been. I nearly fainted. They were demanding the payment in full and in cash. They knew what my situation had been and that money was crazy tight. I could not come up with those funds so they delivered some of my boxes and plastic tubs but refused to leave my TV ( a new Samsung Qled, 55in), an antique rocking chair that had been in my family for decades, my dead father's toolbox and what little furniture I had (2 kitchen utility cabinets, the TV stand, a recliner, ). The value of the items they kept exceeded what they had determined I owed (the TV itself is nearly $2K). I was devastated. I never said I wouldn't pay them; I asked them to work with me concerning the payment (I gave them another $800 that day) but they wouldn't have it. I contacted Budget Movers about this and they completely 'washed their hands' of it since they had contracted my move out. I feel cheated and robbed. I waited this amount of time (7 wks) hoping the company would meet me half way but I have not heard from them.

James, Pat and William were absolutely the best. They showed up quickly in Venice and immediately started to work. In 2 hours, the 23' trailer was unloaded and they were done. They were friendly, courteous and treated our belongings gently. We were able to get the trailer picked up by the end of the day and avoid any upset in our new community by having this huge trailer parked on the street overnight. Ask for these guys if you need to load, move or unload. You won't be disappointed!
