Veterans, African Americans, and informed buyers clearly aren't welcomed at Manchester Motors. I had been keeping an eye on a vehicle there for a few months. By the time I went in, it had been sitting on their lot for 190 days. I sent an inquiry early that morning and got a response confirming it was still available. When I asked for the out-the-door price, I was handed off to the Sales Consultant/Business Development Manager, who sent the numbers. I made a counteroffer. Their response? "That's not even close." No conversation, no negotiation -- just a quick, dismissive reply. I was expecting at least a counter-proposal or a "today only" offer. I went in anyway to test drive the vehicle without an appointment. After the drive, I was ready to move forward, but I wanted a new inspection since the last one was five months ago. The tires showed wear, and the low tire pressure light was on. I was told that could be arranged -- but only if I signed that night. I mentioned I'm a veteran and pre-approved through USAA. That's when things changed. The Sales Manager told me they don't accept USAA pre-approvals and that I'd have to finance through them. I was also told a wholesale buyer was coming the next morning. So I left. About an hour and a half later, I checked the website and saw the price had gone up $3,000 -- after months of consistent pricing, and even discounts. Over the next couple of days, they called, emailed, and left voicemails saying the vehicle was still available, inviting me back. I thought it was supposed to be sold the next morning? The whole experience felt off -- pressured to sign immediately, blocked from using my own financing, conflicting information, and sloppy communication with multiple typos. It just didn't sit right. I scheduled time to go see a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited yesterday after scheduling an appointment with a new sales associate, Alex. He was very friendly and upfront about being only two weeks into this role and industry. Quite honestly, I fear he may not have had the support or training he needed, so I don't blame him for our lackluster experience. After speaking over the phone in the morning and scheduling an appointment for later that day, I would have expected more preparation in terms of already having the Carfax and other information about the vehicle prepared, if not easily accessible. I felt like I had to pry for information, but even when I did ask questions, I felt like they were being dodged. Many of my questions were met with answers like, "Uh, let me look at the Carfax..." when that is something I could have done on my own. I was seeking additional information about the reconditioning and servicing of the vehicle to prepare it for inventory and sale (particularly since this vehicle had been on the lot for more than a month and had been discounted). I would be directed to the Carfax or told repeatedly by Alex and his sales manager, "Well, Maryland state inspection is more stringent than other states, so you can guarantee the tires are in good shape." Well, okay... what's the tread? What's the life left on all the brakes? What was the state of the vehicle when they took it in and specifically what work needed done? I was met with a lot of deflection and avoidance... not even so much as, "I don't know the answer to your question, but let me check with our service center." At the end, the sales manager (in my opinion) frustratedly or condescendingly offered and did check the thread of the tires. By that point, it was too late for me to feel confident in this lot or the knowledge or customer service by the sales team. I was a motivated willing to pay that day, but was disappointed by the entire experience. Yes, they were friendly, but did not offer nearly the transparency into their vehicle that other lots and dealerships do proactively or at least enthusiastically. read more

Sales Manager was Crooked, Disrespected and Gamed the Customer Recently, I was interested in a 2020 Subaru Ascent Touring in this shop, advertised for 33.5k (I still have a screenshot). The first time I went there for a test drive, the sales manager and I had some discussion and the shop offered a selling price of 33.2k. I did not take it. A few days later, I exchanged emails with the business manager (a different person), asking for a discount to make the price to be 33k even. The business manager said he needed a few weeks to consider. Then, I thought maybe it would be better to have a face to face discussion, so I went to the shop again. The sales manager met me and showed me the price proposal. To my surprise, it said the price was 33.6k, not 33.2k which was offered in my first visit. I asked why. The sales manager said that 33.2k had been offered the other day and I had not taken it so it was no longer effective and the new price was 33.6k. I was furious and said I would not buy the car for 33.6k. He then asked if I was OK with the previous price of 33.2k. At this point, I no longer trusted him nor did I want to do business with him so I left. Had he honored the price of 33.2k right from the beginning, I would have been happy to buy the car. read more

Want to not get messed around with hidden fees,fair trade in value and a decent vehicle?The only additional charge is $500 dealer processing fee,tax tags and title is a given.........a good few places charge a hidden reconditioning charge between $1495 to $1995,this business absorbs the cost in fair pricing,NO hidden fees.Vehicles pricing reflects condition,so if you see a car advertised at $10,000 but you expect a $20,000 vehicle,well,that's on you.I reached out via email,had a no pressure response,no false response that "the vehicle is still available" just to get you on the lot,detailed pictures of the vehicle that I requested ONLY,how cool and rare is that?A follow up email offering assistance if needed,again,NOT being bombarded with emails from sales reps and every damn "sales manager" at that lot carries a lot of weight with the average car buyer.Myself included. Did I buy the vehicle?No,no I didn't.Why?Because I dragged a$$ and they sold it a couple of days later.Totally on me.I gave this review,as unbeknownst to them,I feel they earned it.Also,as noted,I review every interaction with notable business,good or bad.Support dealerships like this.They are few and far between. read more

This review is probably a bit different. I sold my vehicle recently to Manchester Motors. I dealt with Donny Caltrider ( inventory manager). He was very professional and treated me with respect. We arrived at a very fair wholesale price for my car. I had a check in my hand about 20 minutes after I signed the paperwork. The inventory looked clean and the facility was spotless. I can't comment on a sales experience but I was treated very well. If I was looking to buy a vehicle this would be my first stop. Great job Manchester Motors. read more

There were some issues with the car which their shop helped fix upfront. They made something that was initially stressful- work out just right. Had a great experience so far. Purchased a van a little over a month ago. Gave me the best deal for my trade in and also came down from their internet price. The only issue I had was that the brake rotors were bad, and instead of replacing them they just turned the rotors. It was the cheap fix that will get me a while longer, but not the fix I expected. But still, the sales experience was great!! Randy Olinger helped us with no pressure to buy. I live between Baltimore and DC and did most of the sale over the phone or e-mail. They were great to deal with and were open to negotiating. The best car buying experience I've had so far. Would definitely recommend to others, with the caveat to make sure they agree to fix what you find BEFORE you make the final purchase. read more

Purchased a 2006 Chevy Colorado in Mid-Summer 2013. Truck was in pretty good shape, but needed a break job and tires, and had a few other minor issues. They negotiated a little on price, but not much. Initially, the truck was great, but turned out it was a maintenance nightmare. Developed a check engine light shortly afterwards that was for the ABS system. Turns out one of the wheel hub sensors was bad (not covered under their warranty). If you've never owned a Colorado or Canyon, beware these trucks. They have several "known" issues that cost tons to fix (unfortunately I found this out after purchasing it). To fix the sensor, you need to replace the whole hub assembly, which by the way takes many hours of labor. To replace both was over $1200. It got worse from there, with the following problems also occurring over the next few months: 1. Developed a leak from the rear third light - dealer wanted $300 to replace the light assembly (can't buy the gasket separately). Luckily I fixed it myself with some RTV. 2. Heater/AC blower only working on low speed. Heater resister wiring harness problem. Again, several hundred to have the dealer replace it. I would up buying an aftermarket harness and doing it myself. 3. And the worst - rough idle followed by another check engine light appeared last month. Turned out to be a bad valve seat which required replacing the entire cylinder head (only way to fix it). $3,200.00!!!!! All of these are common problems with this model (3.5L inline 5 cylinder engine), so shame on me for not researching it more. I guess what frosts me the most is: a. Manchester should have known about the head problem, as the vehicle was in for several service appointment within the last year that pointed to this problem. Buyers should note that this won't show up on a CarFax report that you can get or that the dealer gives you. It DOES however show up on the reports that they receive. b. Manchester claimed that they did a thorough multipoint inspection on the vehicle before selling it I find it hard to believe that none of these problems showed up during the inspection. c. The 90 day warranty they offer doesn't really cover anything (none of these problems), so you better make sure the vehicle is sound yourself before purchasing there. I won't be going back there in the future. Didn't feel like I was dealt with honestly. I don't think over $5000.00 in repairs in less than 6 months is "reasonable" for a vehicle with less than 60,000 miles. Could have bought the same vehicle from an individual for far less and had no worse luck with reliability/repairs. read more

I bought my car here and love it. It was recently stolen with had some damage . Leo at the Body shop, very courteous and on the ball person, took the car and it was repaired beautifully. Looks brand new. The motor work was done by their service department and runs great again. I was very happy with the way I was treated and would buy another car from them and use their service department. I did get an oil change there and Perry at the service department was also very courteous and friendly. They have been a pleasure to work with and made trying times a little easier. There was an issue with the AC on the new purchase which they thought they fixed but later it cropped up again. They stood behind their repair. After shopping around used car lots for several weeks, Manchester Motors kept appearing in my search results, but I felt it was just too far away. Two weeks ago I decided to make the drive out there to look at a few vehicles on the lot. The sales man was extremely pleasant (Randy) and allowed me to test drive vehicles of my choosing with no hard sell tactics. I quickly realized their vehicles were of such good quality and care that I ultimately selected one off their PA lot, drove it back to MD, and made the purchase.. So glad I took the time to visit and shop Manchester Motors for my replacement vehicle. It was truly a superior car shopping experience. It turns out what was wrong with our used 2016 Nissan Sentra SV purchased at Manchester Motors in December 2017 was a parasitic drain on the battery due to an incorrectly installed tracking device, finally diagnosed by our mechanic within a few hours in September 2018. In August 2018, we had the car in the shop at Hanover (PA) Nissan (because of the existing Nissan warranty) for three days yet their mechanic was too incompetent to locate the tracking device and determine it to be the cause of a parasitic drain on the battery. The tracking device was installed by some idiot at Nissan of Turnersville (NJ) - who works at a car dealership and doesn't know how to install a tracking device correctly?! - and the tracking device wasn't removed by Nissan of Turnersville when the first owner turned the car in to them before they sold it at auction where Manchester Motors bought it. Between the leaky strut valve we had to fight about with Max Million, the Manchester Motors sales manager, before buying the car and the incorrectly installed tracking device, it appears Manchester Motors isn't picky about the cars they buy at auctions. So, if you're reading my reviews of Manchester Motors because you're considering going there to buy a vehicle, you may want to reconsider. In addition to the aggravation Randy Olinger (our salesman) and Max Million were (especially Max Million), we're out of pocket over 500.00 because of the incorrectly installed tracking device (our mechanic's diagnostic and repair, the rental car while our Nissan was with our mechanic, and the new batteries we had to buy before we found out why the batteries were dying). No one - including Nissan of Turnersville (and they're the people who are responsible) - wants to be responsible for the money we're out through no fault of ours. When tacking on the more than 500.00 we're out, the price we paid for the car at Manchester Motors wasn't such a bargain after all. read more
