If I could leave negative stars I WOULD!!! These scam artists made sure to thoroughly get over on me. This "shop" is located directly outside of the car dealership, Carmax. Take note of this. They prey on car buyers in need of automotive repairs on their cars. I called the shop who is listed on google under, "Excel Auto Center," but when I arrived to the address I saw that the name on the business is titled, "Expert Auto and Tires." I guess this change of business name is their way of throwing off their negative reviews. Anyway, I called the shop saying that I simply am showing a cylinder 4 misfire code that is causing a check engine light on my vehicle. I was quoted $140 for one spark plug replacement and $227 to have all four changed. I told, Emma, that I only needed the cylinder 4 spark plug changed as per my code reader said for the vehicle. She agreed that I could come in right away and have the work done. Upon arriving at the shop she printed out a list of codes on the car. The list implied that I needed the ignition coil changed as well as the cylinder 4 spark plug replaced. She then quoted me $361 for parts and labor. Although these codes DID NOT show up on my vehicle code reader, I obliged to pay the $361. After about 1 hour of waiting I was told that my car was ready and fixed. I left thinking my car was safe to drive. Literally the next morning I started my car up and the check engine light came on and the same codes were showing. I drove all the way back to the shop only to have, Luis, rudely and impatiently insist that they must now charge me $95 just to find out what's wrong with my car. Mind you, they printed out a list showing what was wrong with the car before working on it. They had the nerve to then tell me that they knew what they "replaced" wouldn't fix the car! Regardless, the same code was showing so what work exactly did they do? Also, the mechanic who worked on my car, Gabriel Gomez, was present when I arrived back at the shop the next day. He had the nerve to nod and co-sign the lies that Luis told me. They proceeded to say that if I get the car fixed at their shop I won't have to pay the $95 diagnostic charge. Why would I pay these crooks MORE money to "fix" my car? I paid $361 for NOTHING! I don't believe they change/replaced a single thing on my car in the first place. Needless to say, I took my car elsewhere. If you don't want to be cheated out of your money, I implore you to find another mechanic. I've had work done in the past on my car in which I made this company my number one. This was until I called them yesterday and stated that had car trouble and wanted them to do work on the car. I did explain that my car would not start and was in a public parking lot. I was told that they did not offer towing, which was fine. It's always difficult to find a good mechanic when moving to a new area, and luckily for me I found one on the first try. I brought my car in for Maryland safety inspection and Hassan and his team did a wonderful job. I ended up needing to replace a couple tires, and he showed me pricing options, gave me some information on each option, and let me make my own decision without any pressure whatsoever. Then in one of them most stunning displays of customer service I've ever experienced, he offered to give me a ride home while they waited for the tires to be delivered! In the end I walked away completely satisfied with the quality of the work and the level of service I was provided, all at a price that I felt was very fair. Several weeks ago, I need to repair the flex pipe in my 2001 Honda Accord and I took the car to Excel Auto Center. The owner told me I could either change the whole front pipe or just replace the flex pipe. The price for the former is around $320 and the price for the latter around $180. Since I was in short of money, I asked them to just replace the flex pipe, that is, to weld a new piece of flex pipe. After the repair, I found some annoying rattling noise came from under the car. I thought it was about the welding. So, I took the car to Excel Auto Center again. Then, we found the noise came from the converter. I told the owner my converter was totally fine before the repair. However, he did not think so. He argued my converter should be bad before the repair. He said I asked him to replace the flex pipe. Now the flex pipe was fine. So the noise from the converter had nothing to do with their repair. He asked me to go away to check the converter by myself. Since at that time, I am not 100% sure that my converter was good before the repair, I left the shop with a noisy car. In my heart, I highly suspected that they damaged the converter. But I do not have proofs. Later, I cannot stand the noise. So, I decided to buy an OEM front pipe and an aftermarket converter and replace them by myself (The OEM converter is very expensive, around $1000). Today, I did this. I took off the converter and the front pipe off in one piece since I was not able to separate them under the car. After installing the new front pipe and the converter, I took a look at the old piece. I found something was inside the latter part of the front pipe which connects the converter. But I could not slide it out from the open side of the front pipe. I realized this something inside was the cause of the noise. So I took some effort to separate the converter and the front pipe. I found there was a steel tube left inside of the pipe. That tube moves into the converter and makes noise. I guess Honda Accord's front pipes have inner pipes. When the front pipe was cut, the inner tube was loosely left insider. I do not know if the tube was left inside on purpose or not, perhaps not. But I do think the repair is not well done. So I think I should I ask for a refund. Just now, I called the owner and told them I found the the real cause of the noise. However, he did not believe me. He said he had never heard of this kind of inner tube thing. Then, I made a mistake. I lied about one thing. I told him the discovery of the real cause was done by a dealer, thinking this would convince him. Then he asked me to bring my car together with the dealer's report and he would talk with the dealer. Since I do not have a dealer's report, I have to tell him that I lied about this and I made the discovery by myself. Then, he said I was a lair and handed up. Since I made a big mistake about lying the dealer made the discovery, I would not ask for a refund again. However, I want to share my experience with you. This might help you a little when you want to repair your cars in shops like Excel Auto Center. I do not mean to convince you with this post that Excel Auto Center is very bad. I just want to share with you my real case. From my personal experience, I can only give it at most 2 stars. There is also a lesson from me. I really felt shamed about lying. So, the lesson is this one: Do not lie, even just a little. It is for one's own goodness. Also, in some cases, other people, including those who do something wrong but never admit, will use it to deny all your reasonable requests. This description is 100% true with my current knowledge. By the way, there is another fact: I also found the mental gasket between the front pipe and the engine was missing when I took off the front pipe. I guess they did not put back the gasket for some reason but just put some sealant there which would only work for a short period of time. This might be the way for them to get returned customers. But this is just a guess, which might not be true. read more

Reading all the reviews about this auto repair, went to Hassan's garage thinking it was not too expensive. My car's AC unit wasn't working giving out hot air every time. I asked this guy for a quote of how much it would cost to repair the AC unit and he gave me a quote of $159 seriously?? Then I went back home, did some little research on google. After 10 minutes of research I found out that probable issue with the AC unit is it might have a leak and I just needed to inject R135A refrigerant. You can get that in walmart or target of less than $10. Also you will need a hose like device which will cost you around $15 (you can find that in walmart or go to some auto parts shop). Just one time cost and you can use that unit again and again.So my total investment here is about $25. Then checked how to re-charge AC unit in my car on youtube (you can find plenty of instructions). Then did it myself (took 15-20 mins). And finally my car's AC started blowing out cold air. So this garage is not as cheap as posted by other users. Don't go this place really expensive..... read more

I brought my vehicle in to get brakes and rotors replaced. I liked that they were honest about only one set needed to be replaced and I could wait a little while on the other set. They replaced the rear brakes and rotors quickly and were very professional. However, 2 weeks later I find the bolts on the driver side caliper weren't completely tightened. Now one is laying on the road some where and I had to have emergency repairs made over Thanksgiving traveling. read more

The only repair that I couldn't do myself was because my front passenger door wouldn't open from where someone hit me and he smoothed it out to the point where it could open for $40. WARNING - DO NOT GO HERE FOR YOUR SAFETY INSPECTION. These guys, specifically Hassan are ripping people off in such a subtle way that it has gone undetected. If all goes well, they will find something so minor that you won't think twice about it. I would especially warn against anyone going there with TINTS. Get your TINTS checked elsewhere, because these people will tell you that your tints are too dark, even when they are not. They will charge you $50 bucks to have them removed for absolutely nothing. I am quit disappointed, especially since I thought I could trust them after reading these reviews. Smh read more
