I searched and searched for beds. I knew what I needed. I mean, I already had a great Simmons Beautyrest, it was just a little small for my current living situation...a partner, 2 dogs and a cat. We decided to go to Mancini's Sleepworld on a Friday night at 7pm. Yes. That's right. PARTY! When we entered, a tumbleweed blew past us, as, expected, no one was there, until this lovely woman comes up with a smile so large. Alicia was happy to be there, excited to show us everything. I told her that I was pretty confident about what I wanted. She listened intently and gave us a few options. She really knows her mattresses. I was really impressed. In the end, we still purchased another, albeit, larger, Simmons beautyrest. I had no intention of actually buying that night, until we were so impressed with Alicia. After being helped by Johnathan, I walked out of Mancini's on Ashby at the Berkeley store tearing up, overwhelmed with gratitude and so appreciative of the service that my girlfriend and I were provided. We just came from two other mattress stores in the area, one of them, a really good experience, the other, opposite end of the spectrum. It was horrible and we wanted to leave. But then, we came into Johnathan's store. I honestly couldn't have asked for better assistance. Johnathan went above and beyond. If only all sales people could have the same attitude, same demeanor, same heart as Johnathan, business would be boomin'. Johnathan went into depth, asking us detailed questions about the way we sleep, and while paying attention and being extremely mindful and considerate to our budget, he drove us to pay more attention to the way we felt, trying multiple mattresses and finally ending up with something better than we even imagined walking in the door. Johnathan is a great person and the way he provides space for conversation, the lack of pressure to push the sale, the room to consider options he provides made the experience at Mancini's one of the best sale experiences I have ever had. This is the second time we've been to Sleepworld and this visit was even better than the last. We definitely like to keep supporting local businesses, but this last time we were truly impressed by the customer service of Kwasi who was working alone on Thursday Night. We rolled in about 7:30pm and while admittedly there was very few customers that came in while we were there, Kwasi was EXTREMELY thorough in the attention he gave us. We told him as best we could what we were looking for and he started from there. We were shown three sets of beds and he had us move back and forth between those mattresses asking questions the whole time. When it came time to make the deal, we got some financing and he worked with us and gave us a deal. Of course we expected to get some discount and we did, but mostly we walked out of there feeling we pretty much got what we were looking for AND didn't get financially taken in the process. Once again such a great place to go to, I don't know why I ever went anywhere else. I recently moved, starting from scratch was in need of a bunch of new furniture. After days and hours on the internet scouring sites for bedframes, couches, shelves, tables etc. My energy was low and my wallet was hurting real bad. The last piece of my puzzle was buying the mattress which after everything I was hoping to get a pretty cheap one. Ended up at the Mancini's clearance store in San Leandro, for a queen with a budget of as close to $500 as I could get. The experience we had at the store was very meh. I did not enjoy being eerily watched, and overall the sales associate hardly seemed interested or knowledgeable in his job. The only good thing that came out of it was figuring out whether I wanted a spring or foam. Fast forward to deciding to stop into Mancini's, we helped immediately, by an energetic, brewing with positivity fellow (unfortunately I forgot his name), he asked us what we were looking for, what we liked and our price range. We told him and we found a mattress we were pretty satisfied with, he offered us options showing us both a cheaper option and a more expensive one. He was very knowledgeable on each brand, its features and its models. I liked how he didn't try to push us towards the expensive brand as well. While we were checking out I noticed a 2018 manager of the year placard, it was clearly well deserved. I am definitely never going anywhere else again, the price ranges here are unbeatable, the service is top notch, and even though we ended up above my budget it was worth every penny! read more

We went in expecting to get the cheapest mattress set they had! As my partner and I walked around and checked out the selection of mattress we found ourselves back at the basic mattress. But what happened next made my weekend and birthday spectacular!! Our sales guy was Simarjit Manhas, I loved his approach of letting us walk around and check out their selection before coming directly over to us and trying to sell us the most expensive mattress set they had. We has picked out the silver or gold sleepworld mattress, but wasn't happy about the comfort of the mattress. He asked what our price range was, and then showed up the serta bed that just happened to be on sale. And it was comfortable!!! He let us know the price and it was in our budget and we were also able to get a frame with the bed. (which we were not expecting) At check out he added some additional discounts which made me and my partner even more happier! Simarjit Manhas was very easy to work with, very friendly, new what he was talking about and when the delivery came the very next day everything was delivered correctly. They set it up and removed old bed faster than it took them to call me and let me know they were at my apartments. I will be going to Mancini's for all my sleeping needs! We wandered into MSW on our anniversary. We knew it was time to replace our mattress as each morning our movements resembled a zombie march. Kwasi helped us out right away. It was a slow night in the store so we got lots of attention. He helped us find a mattress that fit both of our needs. One thing I didn't know was that when you buy a mattress you can negotiate the price so be prepared. The mattress and yep, we bought a new bed frame too, was delivered a few days later. The guys who set it up were fast and nice although they did show up 1 hour early and I hadn't yet herded my dust bunnies from under the bed (embarrassing). Returned with my boyfriend after a wonderful pillow buying experience to look at mattresses and we were promptly and warmly greeted by Jonathon. I immediately felt comfortable joking and sharing with him, like an old friend. He patiently walked us through a variety of options and easily sold us on a quality mattress for the both of us. The basis of this review is around Mancini's customer service, since they don't make the mattresses. MS is located on Ashby right off of San Pablo. Nothing special in terms of the space, it's another mattress store. Wide selection of mattresses and frames and such. They have a trial return/exchange period. You have to try the bed for min 30 days and if you don't like it, they refund or exchange. Caveat is that they only do an exchange once - which they weren't clear about. I got an extra hard mattress and then exchanged for a softer one - which seemed to be defective. But they told me that I only got one exchange/return, so I would need to get a company inspector to prove something was wrong. After a brief chat with the manager, they went to bat for us and made the manufacturer take back the mattress and gave us the credit - which we used towards a temperpedic that we love! Solid pricing as well, but they really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience, and I would highly recommend them! read more

Went here because we needed a new mattress and it was nearby and open at the time we needed. Simarjit helped us when we came in, he was friendly, helpful and not at all pushy. He inquired about our budget and preferences and showed us a few mattresses and let us decide what we wanted without being intrusive. He gave us a good deal on the mattress and offered to have the delivery guys take both our old box spring and mattress. The review would be five stars but unfortunately when the delivery guys came they couldn't take our old mattress and box spring because the truck was full (first delivery in the morning) and we were stuck with both until later in the afternoon when they could come back to get them. We had a terrible experience at Nest in Berkeley. We were fed up after months of dealing with them and couldn't imagine dealing with anybody else. My husband and I walked through the door at Mancini's with an instantly noticeable frustration on our faces because we needed a bed TOMORROW. The first person/only person who greeted us, because he was the only one in the store, was Steven. From the second he opened his mouth, we knew we were in the right spot. He showed us the cheapest bed in the store, the most expensive hand sewed local mattress for thousands of dollars, and everything in between. All the while he was helping the 4 other couples looking for something just as urgent, I have no doubt. After spending close to an hour laying our tired bodies down on every mattress in the store, knowing full well what each had to offer (because Steven spent the time to explain IT ALL to us), we decided on the mattress my husband and I felt the most comfortable with. Bing bang boom a day later they dropped off the frame and mattress and we have been sleeping in heaven ever since! Thank you, Steven, for your courtesy and patience and understanding. Went in and pleasantly greeted but the more we spoke to the salesman the slicker his patter got with aggressive undertones. He told us what he thought we wanted to hear at every opportunity. Anyhow, mattresses are like buying a car and you expect this. I was planning on spending $1500 - $1800 and told him so he started showing us mattresses at $2700 but as we did not want box springs he said that would be less and there was a mothers day deal so he could get that price down to something we could work with. Great selection, we tried around 12 mattresses but kept coming back to one. Now to negotiate, $1999 he said. I said plus tax, yes, outside my budget. I told him I wanted to check another mattress store to comparison shop. More sales patter, clearly didn't want that. Said that mattress discounter and sleep train were the same company. To try and be a slick customer I asked where the nearest Sleep Train was and he had no idea. How could you not know your major competition was 1.4 miles away? Because you are a liar and the mattress discounter was in between. So price too high, negotiate, what can I do to get to your price point? lower the price, what do you want to pay? I want your lowest price, What do you want to pay?, I want your best price, I would need to call the manager and give him the price you want to pay and see what he says, ask him your lowest price, he wont he'll ask what you want to pay.... He's basically trying to sell me a mattress but won't give me a price. He said this was his most poplar mattress but he doesn't know how low he can sell them for and he is the assistant manager. What discounts are you giving me to get to 1999? Mothers day discount and another one, what is the other discount, it's another one. Just happens to end up being 1999? Blah Blah Blah. Went to Steep Train, bought a mattress, delighted, 5 stars. Note: I was googling all the mattresses to find online prices but could not find them so this price matching would be extremely difficult to take advantage of. We decided to go hunt for a bed, equivalent in comfort and firmness to a bed we slept on while on a cruise last year. We knew it was a Sealy Posturepedic with a special super-top-secret-just-for-cruiseline euro-top, so we looked for the best alternative. We found the closest Mancini's and from the minute we walked in, the two sales men were courteous, acknowledged us, showed us where the Sealy's were and gave us our space to take a look. We never felt pressured, were able to take our time and we found a fantastic alternative. We got a great deal on a hybrid mattress/low profile box spring set and the sales men were just really friendly and professional. Good customer service is hard to come by these days, so it was nice that they brought it back one time. :0) Shipping was wicked fast too... got it next day. The delivery crew were good guys.. quick, efficient and took our old mattress for us. Make sure you pay attention to the warranty and return policy.. it's a good one, but simple oversights may cost you if you're not aware (keep a mattress cover/protector on it or if it stains, you can't return it, they DO disclose you can only return once and to give it a month, etc) They were very upfront with us from the gate so we felt the whole process was transparent and honest.. we knew what to do to protect our investment, and we left feeling like it was easy to do business with them. It was the first time I had shopped for mattresses and I was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options. After this review of my disappointment with the experience I had at Mancini's I was promptly contacted and put in touch with Customer Service and they made a compromise offer that I ultimately decided to decline (I have kept the mattress and modified it to work for me). Despite their extensive product line, there simply isn't a mattress that I could confidently exchange to and this isn't really the fault of Mancini's Sleepworld. I stand by my warning that, contrary to most purchases you make today, the mattress purchase is a FINAL sale and that you should definitely be aware that if they offer an exchange to a lower-priced alternative, you will NOT get a full refund of the difference and if there is no acceptable (to you) alternative product in their extensive selection, you're out of luck. But for the vast majority of consumers, Mancini's will have a great bed for you and will do A LOT to try to please you. I would like to suggest to the Mancini's buyers to add more "green" bedding alternatives to your product line as there is a definite trend toward consumers seeking to minimize their exposure to chemical fabric treatments, petroleum-based foams, etc. Hopefully the future will bring more such alternatives to Mancini's as I would like to give my business to them. They have demonstrated a dedication to customer service that I do appreciate. read more

This was actually our second time buying from here.. we got a bed and mattress for our guest bedroom a year ago, and this time went back to update our master bedroom. Darren is super helpful and informative without being pushy at all. We got a beautiful wooden bed at a great price (for WAY less than the West Elm beds that I'd been looking at). First of all...yes, they are open in Berkeley. We came here after having a very bad experience with an online mattress-in-a-box company (Awara). It was helpful to be able to try a bunch of different mattresses and we ended up purchasing one that feels more comfortable and better made (and $100 cheaper) than the Awara. They were good about keeping things sanitary as well....ensuring you used the hand sanitizer at the door when you came in and providing you with a small cloth to put between your head and the pillows on the mattresses. read more
