I had a great experience here, considering I was buying myself a bed following a break-up... Mike Kelley, the manager, was so attentive to my (cheap skate) needs. He spent time humoring me and watching me try and retry numerous mattresses. I shopped around and he was able to offer me the best deal by far on exactly what I wanted (a pillow top queen bed)). I looked at 4 or 5 local mattress dealers before i headed back to him. This all happened on Sunday. Mike had the mattress at the store waiting for me on Monday. I picked it up on Tuesday (since they don't do deliveries that day and i needed it ASAP), strapped it to my truck, and drove home with a sweet new mattress. Mike called me later to make sure I got home ok and to thank me for my business. Now that is what I call customer service. When we noticed a Mancini's Sleepworld in Capitola as we drove through their parking lot, we decided to stop in and see what our options were. We had agreed we needed a new bed but it hadn't yet made it to the top five priorities for major purchases. When it did, we would do a truckload of research before making a careful investment. We were greeted as we entered the store and cringed a bit expecting to be pounced on by commission hungry sales people but it didn't go further than a friendly greeting and offer of availability. So far, so good. After we'd had a walk around we were approached by Nina who asked what we were looking for. Looking at one another warily (this is where we tell them we want a twin and they try to sell a queen or some such), we confessed our desire for a king size storage bed with two levels of storage drawers on the sides. She showed us the beds they offered with single levels then rather than trying to persuade us these met our needs, showed us a sort of box spring with drawers in the sides of it! She cautioned that the bed would be very tall, but laughed and said that she also had a tall bed. She then showed us the mattress she had recently purchased and explained that while it was outside of her initial budget she had no regrets (of course she not, we thought cynically), but she was so sincere so eager to have us try it, it was hard not to feel like the recommendation of a good time. And she walked away and let us talk privately and take as long as we wanted to try the different firmnesses that we felt welcomed rather than crowded. Oh, and educated. She really knew her stuff! What things were made of and how they were constructed and conveyed respectfully even though we clearly didn't know the first thing about all this stuff. Beds have become high tech! Very politely and non-judgmentally, Nina informed us of our options commenting, for instance, if you have sleep apnea or like sleeping in this position, you may be interested in this lifter. We didn't have to confess our sleep time circumstances to show an interest, but felt so comfortable with her that we were pretty open - and she was respectful but kept these tidbits in mind as we walked the showroom pointing out how this mattress remains cool if you sleep hot, etc. After patiently walking us over their entire floor as we asked about this and that, we made it to the more costly end of the mattress line. This was NOT where she started. She went there as we tried other things for comparison. Which of this is more soft or firm? You decide. Different customers react differently to them and she didn't want to influence our opinion. Throughout, she gave us lots of space to take our time and talk to one another. After more than an hour we knew the bed matter had escalated to one of our top two (we were on our way out for a refrigerator) and that we needed to think and research and price compare to make up our minds. This is normally the time when the salesperson grips you in her pointy talons in a suffocating squeeze and begins throwing obstacles in the path to the exit like a demented Musketeer but Nina only offered to answer any questions we come up with after we left. We asked if we could work with her again (she had invested so much time and we really, really liked her). She gave us her work schedule (Wed-Sun) and told us we had to ask for her if we wanted to work with her as she was not allowed to approach us if someone else was helping us (go Mancini's! Thank you for restraining your salespeople). We researched and shopped and didn't come up with much on the West Coast that was comparable in price or quality. But you can't just buy the first thing you come to, right? So we drove over the hill to see another bed that came in the color we wanted. The contrast was amazing. Where Nina had training and excellent people skills, their sales guy had a pulse. We returned to Mancini's the same day and asked for Nina at once. She helped us measure and resolve a problem with a different bed frame we settled on (sorry guys, if you'd had it we'd have loved to buy it from you) without reproaching us for disloyalty. Then she moved heaven and earth to reduce the price, reminding us that we didn't need this bit because of that reason and how did we feel about a floor model for that bit? We waffled a lot and never felt pressured. They accommodated our delayed delivery request and when we worried about our steep, tight driveway promised they'd make a note to use a small truck. This was a huge investment. The sort you conclude then regret for about a year just on principle, but we remain very eager for our new bed! read more

I am absolutely disgusted with the service i received in Capitola. After multiple purchases here and referring people i cannot believe the way i was treated. I placed an order with Nina for a bed frame in the beginning of July and was told that it would be in store for pick up in a week. i payed in cash. when that date came and no one called, i gave them a ring and was told the bed had been back ordered for two weeks. which i agreed to, understanding things happen. Those weeks went by and nothing. (this was now July 22 and it was originally supposed to be delivered by the 7th) so I finally dive the 45 minutes ti the store so i can clear things up in person. the woman i originally dealt with was not present so i dealt with Jake. who said he would move some orders around and have all of my pieces in store by July 31. Today is Aug 2nd and i had my final encounter with this god awful store. I called in to see if everything was ready. Nina informed me that no changes had ever been made in the system, and that my bed would still not be in store for another two weeks. then proceeded to cop an attitude and yell at me when i told her that this was unacceptable and i did not ant to continue my order with them. when she refused to stop yelling at me i hung up on her. she then proceeded to call me back and continue yelling at me, and for some reason asking me what i did for a living (i have no idea why the is any of her business) saying that she couldn't believe how someone like me could ever get along in life or a job with my attitude. i was upset but i in no way whatsoever deserved to be talked to like this because i called her out for giving me the runaround for a whole month. Now i must wait another 7-10 days before i get my refund check. this has been the worst customer service i have ever experienced. Nina is the most incompetent and rude salesperson i have ever encountered, and i highly recommend finding a different furniture store. (also on another occasion my mother and i went in to look at mattresses and Nina said she would be right with us but never came to help, so we left) just be warned she is awful. NOTE: after calling corporate i was contacted by the manager of the Stevens Creek store and he was very kind and apologetic. The district manger was also willing to make things right however i just wanted to wash my hands of this company. So if for some reason you're still interested in Mancinis I would Definitely call Stevens Creek cause they had great customer service read more

A friend of mine recently bought a bed from Mancini's Sleep World Capitola. She was told that she could by a floor model and save some money. She was very excited about the purchase. However upon sleeping on the bed she noticed it smelled of smoke. She called Mancini's several times about the smoke issue and after a week she was told it was really a used mattress. Prior to her purchase she was only told it was a floor model. When she wanted to return the mattress they told her she could not return it because it was used. Besides the total misrepresentation of the product their customer service has been horrific. ALL I CAN SAY IS BE WARE OF THIS STORE! Definitely walked into this one a bit wary after seeing how the customers already in the store were being treated while completing their sale. My product was not in stock and the employee offered to order it for me to that location but would not give me the product name so I could read the product reviews on the Sleepworld website (or see the price listed on the website for that matter--how shady is that?! Particularly right after I heard the employee tell the previous customers she was able to lower the price if they haggled a bit with her) or so I could find it at another Sleepworld location. read more

We had been to several places already and found knowledgeable people but when we got to Mancini's everything fell into place. They had an extensive selection including house brands, the organization made it easy to compare and Nina was just the right amount of helpful. The delivery was super impressive in both the communication and the delivery people. So we are now sleeping on our new mattress. We also know we can return or exchange in 120 days which was also a huge incentive as it is hard to decide in a showroom. I recommend them and would certainly shop there again. We just bought a new mattress after 10 years on one that had become way to soft. So we purchased a firm one. Oops, it was too firm. However, with the 30 day return policy we were able to get a new softer one. Michael Watt was very patient with us and had two different beds shipped from the ware house for us to try before we made our final decision on the one we wanted to swap out for. All thru my dealings w/ Mancini's in Capitola, (between Chevron & the DMV on Capitola Rd, the cross street is 41st Ave), I felt seen, heard, cared for and valued. Zero creep vibes. Zero unwanted flirtation. Zero pressure. As much or as little help and direction as I wanted. When my needs were not immediately met, I was calmly told why not, when I could expect help, and suggestions for while I waited. If the situation changed, I was kept informed. Every time I phoned was great. It did not matter who I had talked to last, or asked for something, Mike and Daniel were both flawlessly up to up speed on my situation. They knew who I was when I called & they knew how to help. Both have impressive technical knowledge of their products and skill helping match peoples' needs with beds' features for OH-YES solutions. I usually dislike shopping. Too little money to spend, too much stuff to see, hear, feel & smell, & too much of other folks drama. Daniel seems to love people and love helping get their lives better, A LOT. Being around him seems to improve others' moods. Very valuable trait in sales person for overwhelmed frustrated anxious shoppers. I watched him help several other people and they all looked more relaxed and grounded after a few minutes w/ Daniel. I certainly felt better. Like people, businesses reveal their character when things go wrong. The 1st mattresse set: I did all due diligence, research, hung out on it in store, discussed my needs and what would be best for me, and made a very educated purchase. Delivered the next morning- all that was great. Then, I couldn't sleep on it. Tried for a week. It did not conform to me and it jostled. It may have been defective, the mattress protector may have prevented conforming pillow top action, and I may have just made the wrong choice. Daniel and Mike graciously arranged an exchange. No blame. No shame. Just made it right.Their teamwork was perfect, and useful.They helped me even better figure out my needs and match them with their products features. The 2nd bed was delivered on time today. Seemed like less than 10 minutes out w/ old in w/ new & set it up. The delivery guys were fun to watch because they are great at their job and like it. I'm a hourglass shaped woman. For the 1st time since childhood, I can lie in bed on my back, front & sides all getting proper anatomical support and pressure relief. A lot of women suffer a lot of pain because their flat beds bend their curves the wrong way. Think of it terms of slope. A model likes to sleep on her side. Her waist is 34". 10" south her proportional hips are 44". So to support her waist the mattress needs to needs to be an inch taller or shorter every inch between the two. That is steep. My math may be off but the concept is painfully real. We now have access to wonderful more affordable sleep technology to help stop suffering that kind of suffering and get great sleep. Being jostled even a little jerks me awake & up snarly. My 60# dog just jumped on the new bed next to me. I felt damped individual footsteps instead of intense bed quake. Joy!!! I've been sitting up in the new bed writing on my laptop for 6 hours and my butt is still comfortable--no pressure soreness, just -hey time to stretch. Almost forgot. For starters make sure when you call about a mattress they tell you if they have one to purchase in stock! The lady I spoke with assured me they had LOTS of full size mattresses. Low and behold I get there to purchase and she says oh I can get you one from our warehouse in Livermore!! Then after seeing I was clearly upset she says well maybe I can sell you one off our show room. Well of course it's not new then and who knows how many people have laid on it!! So I figure it's fine I'm getting a cover for it maybe they'll discount it. NOPE I paid cash and they didn't mention any discount! And I went back in to point out to them there was a tear in the back and clearly the big guy must be the manager who then says "oh well it's on the bottom so it's ok" and my reply was well it's not a full price mattress being damaged but all he could say was "I'm sorry". Careful with these guys they clearly are out to make as much as they can. And I paid cash lucky them !! Won't get my business ever again and I'll be sure to spread the word read more

In short, I feel like Mancini's is the Nordstrom of the mattress world. I was surprised by the selection, appreciative of the appropriateness in the service as far as when to help us and when to leave us alone, and even more surprised by how quickly our bed was delivered once we purchased. Upon delivery we realized there was little mix-up with the depth-size of the box-spring we chose and they resolved it immediately and had the size we wanted delivered within 24-hours! The delivery men that came both times (a different crew each time) were the most professional, kind, thoughtful and patient gentlemen I have EVER experienced - it was pouring rain and my dog was going mental, barking his head off in the other room and they acted like they were performing their favorite activity on a great vacation - they were fast, efficient, and VERY conscience navigating around the other furniture. And somehow, despite that it was pouring, they got not one spec of mud or rain anywhere in the house. Furthermore, I L-O-V-E our mattress, thanks to the kind, patient guidance of Nina, who was amazing the night we came in and the whole process through. My partner & I met there after work, which in hindsight was a mistake: we were tired, hungry and cranky upon arriving, not ideal for the whole bed-shopping thing. I thoroughly appreciated Nina's skill in giving us the right amount of space and help as we explored our options. She was beyond patient and helpful, especially in helping point out/narrow down the choices once she realized the general 'feel' and type of bed we were most comfortable on. Overall the whole experience was fantastic. If you're looking for a new mattress, Mancini's can't be beat. Nina was about as knowledgeable as they get. She quickly helped me hone down a comfort level and a price range, and was clear on all of the options I had. She instantly had the answer to every question I had, but was low-key and friendly, and never tried to pressure me into one decision or another, which was a new phenomenon for me when dealing with mattress purchases! I was slow to make a decision, but she was exceptionally patient, and was happy to stand by while I (literally and figuratively) flip flopped between two options. As soon as I made my decision, the transaction was completed in a snap. My parents were covering my purchase from 3,000 miles away, so we had to do a remote credit card payment, which I thought would be difficult... but apparently not! Nina talked to my parents on the phone and got it squared away with no problem. I feel really good about the deal that I got, and am feeling even better about their super flexible return policies. If I ever need anything mattress/box/bedroom furniture related in the future, I'm definitely coming back. read more

I have always bought all my mattresses form Mancini's, I have recommended them to friends and family. I need to buy a new mattress so I naturally went to Mancini's. So disappointed! The saleswoman that was there was on her cell phone when I walked into the store, she continued to be on her phone as she spoke to me. Nothing irritates me more is when a sales clerk is on their phone, but to not even put it down when you are talking to a customer is rude and shows how unimportant you are as a customer. She only showed me tempurepedic type mattresses. When I told her I was not interested in that type of mattress, her attitude changed. (She must get a commission on them) when I expressed I could not afford $1200 for just a mattress I did not need a box spring, she pointed me to a crap mattress. I am so disappointed, I will be looking else where. *Update: I did end up buying a mattress from Mancini's in San Jose, I bought from Charles the manager, he was awesome! Next day delivery! My moms had a horrible experience with Mancini's. They bought a mattress and it ended up being extremely uncomfortable. There was a three month return policy but two months in, when they went in to ask to return the mattress, the company made it near impossible. They have a tight budget and the salesperson who helped them essentially said that the company only allowed exchanges for things that would have cost more money. The high pressure sales pitches employed by the staff proved too much for my moms so they just went home, resigned to living with the mattress. It's past the return period but I decided to post this review because my moms have extreme back pain every morning but no budget for another mattress. You can buy a mattress just about anywhere but what sets the Capitola location of Mancini's Sleepworld apart from other places was the INCREDIBLE SERVICE! Nina told us that our mattress would be delivered the following day. On the morning of day of the delivery, due to a mix up (NOT on Nina's part), she found out that the mattress was not available from the nearby warehouse. Instead of saying that it would be an extra day for the delivery she immediately called other stores in the area, found the mattress that we paid for and she and her husband delivered it to us. This is the second mattress plus frame I've bought from mancinis. Very disappointed both times. The day bed I bought in 2008 fell apart within 5 years. Was never put together properly and at this point I'm beating myself up for buying another bed through them. Where to begin? I bought the bed in March, and when buying the bed to begin with they advertise FREE set up and delivery... well there's a catch, they don't give you free set up/delivery on frames, only mattresses.. What??? Seriously?? Who can't set up a mattress? Give me a break. So when the people arrived (about 3-4 weeks after I placed the order) there was two of them, they took less then 15 minutes to put together the frame and when I tell you they did this half backwards I'm not joking in any form. There were two screws on the floor when they left and marks all over my wall. The paint on my walls was left chipped and paint is currently on my bed frame from the frame rubbing up against the walls so hard when they initially set it up. So I called the lady (Nina) who I bought the bed from told her the problem and a couple more men were sent out a week later. They told me that the bed was put together completely wrong the first time and the young man did what he could to make the bed less wobbly. (HOWEVER he failed to make note that the frame was lacking any real support) He told us to call the store back in a couple days and let them know that it's still not put together properly so I did. Another crew was sent out just yesterday (July 14th) and the man who came told me the same thing, that the bed is not properly assembled and there's no support down the middle. He showed me how the pieces on the bottom were in the complete wrong spot (they were placed in the middle of the frame when hey should have been on either ends) and told me that there was supposed to be an additional piece that we did not have and was never brought. We then proceeded to call the store rep Nina who sold us the bed and she was just plain rude. (Honestly I won't return to do buisness even if things get worked out just because of her horrible customer service) when we called she Wouldn't let me get a word in and raised her voice every time to talk over me. She acted as if this was our fault, the paying customers! (Are customers not always right? In any situation? That's how I'm trained in my job atleast.) This is not the type of service I expect after paying out $1200 dollars on a bed. I mean the only reason I bought the bed from this company in the first place was because they offered free setup and delivery (which really wasn't free after reading the fine print). little did I know that I would've had better luck putting the bed together myself. Very very disappointed about this. I learned my lesson and will no longer be doing ANY more business with mancinis and I will definitely let all my family and friends know to dodge this bullet.... UPDATE- just realized that the support pieces are cracked due to the fact that the initial set up was done completely wrong. Update- received $40 refund for the crap delivery service. Still doesn't subsidies for the fact that my bed has been worked on 5 different times. Still feels like a tester bed. ( ha - ha who would've know I would be paying $1,200 for a display bed, I'm the fool here I should've learned after the first bed I received that fell apart after 5 years) Thanks for the refund on the delivery (considering that service WAS NOT worth even a mere 10$) however I still will not buy anything else from you guys. This is a fraud company who only care about the money they're bringing in rather than their customers. Sad. My frame should have been replaced completely. Two crappy pillows and a $40 check that took me 4 weeks to beg for will not make me change my review nor return to do business with you guys. And I'll advise that to anyone who asks. I went to Mancini's Sleepworld based on a very reliable referral from a friend who had researched beds everywhere and ended up buying there. She was right on. The service and expertise from both Nina and Jake was absolutely first rate. I have spinal stenosis and Nina made some very appreciated suggestions. After many evening visits (with my two pillows in hand) trying out beds, I chose the same bed my friend had purchased since her husband also has back problems. The bed arrived right on schedule and the two guys setting it up were very helpful as to what I preferred for the height. As soon as they left, I proceeded to put the bedding on but ran into a dilemma. I have an Ethan Allen four poster bed with wood sides and was having trouble tucking the sheets in. Thinking this wasn't going to work, I went down to the showroom and explained my concerns. That very same evening, as soon as the store closed, Nina came to my house and showed me how to easily everything tucks in (was trying to do it like my old bed). Talk about going the extra mile! Unfortunately, after sleeping on the bed for a month, I realized that, because of my back problems, a firmer mattress was needed. I felt bad because both Nina and Jake had spent so much time trying to find me the perfect fit but things are different in the showroom to sleeping all night on a mattress. Nina was so gracious and tolerant as we started the process all over again. The choice was narrowed to two mattresses (the one I really loved was more expensive) so Nina shopped around to find a showroom model...again going the extra mile. I sold new homes for 32 years and believe me, if I ever had a client like me, my patience would have dissipated long ago. This is why I am so appreciative of both Nina and Jake...they are such a great synergy tag team. I am Nina's client but Jake took quite a bit time with me too. Do not know about the way their commissions work, but believe me, you always feel specail and they both step up to make sure all your needs are met. I bought a pillow top firm mattress at the Capitola store and it did not work out. It hurt my back because it was too firm. I went back to the store and the lady who sold me the mattress found me a Tempurpedic mattress which I exchanged for my pillow top firm. I have gone from 2 hours of back pain in the morning down to 20 minutes and its getting less and less each day. I would recommend this store to anyone who is looking for a bed that fits their needs.
