Horrible in so many ways. We were in town visiting from Queens. Peruvian cuisine is my fav so we yelped this place and decided to try it out. Horrible we waited for our food for about two hours. After an hour of waiting we asked where are appetizers were she brought out the wrong dish. Food was not fresh, taste as if it were reheated. When asked the waiter why it is taking so long she said they were short staffed inwhich is understandable if at least it were to be mentioned in the beginning on interaction and at least apologize for the wait. Horrible!

What better excuse to go out for dinner then a blackout, no power, no water. I convinced the family to go to a new (opened about a month ago) Peruvian restaurant in Sleepy Hollow called Mancora at 180 Valley St. I visited them solo on Wed. Feb. 28. In any case we went on Sat. we were seated immediately. Ordered Pulpo al Olivo al Girll (grilled octopus), Pollo a la Brasa Mancora (whole rotisserie chicken with three sides). We ordered FF, sweet plantain & salad. And finally, Arroz con Mariscos (seafood paella - shrimp, crab, mussels, calamari, pickled onions) Thought I've had tender octopus before, that octopus was so tender & well seasoned, it just melted in your mouth. The Chicken Bras was absolutely delicious we couldn't get enough of it. It's a must order item. The seafood paella was also delicious, calamari was oh so tender also well seasoned. Very generous portions. Highly recommend this place. The grilled beef heart was delicious, tender yet firm with a nice chew, forget the boiled/fried potatoes. They were just too dry, looks like they were baked potatoes, also the Peruvian corn is tasteless & very starchy. The mussels were very good. I just call them mussels ceviche with all those fix'ins All in all I recommend you give it a try. They accept credit cards no Amex No liquor license, call if you can BYOB Street parking If you're heading out to a show at Tarrytown Music hall, it's only a 10-12 minute walk from The Music Hall.

Very happy I chose this place out of many! Tucked away in the tight-knit neighborhood with many one way streets, this Peruvian place is the neighborhood hidden gem. From the outside, you're able to see the neat table arrangements but it's only when you walk in that you are immersed in the ambience with the surrounding loud but easy-listening Latino music and paintings, and art made from alpaca coats. With the many speakers, full bar, TVs, and light fixtures and a DJ booth upstairs, it's clear that this place hosts events for the locals and possibly karaoke night! Anyways, there were no other diners in here on this Thursday evening and I had a feeling it was because they are still a pretty new establishment and hidden from the main street. Their food is excellent! Starting with the Ceviche, it was perfectly citrusy and very fresh! The white fish had a soft delicate texture and was served with jumbo corn and soft sweet potato. It came entrée sized but I wish it was served in appetizer portion. Lomo Saltado is a classic Peruvian beef stir fry, and the beef chunks were very tender and very tasty but the fries weren't that special, wished it were crispier. Pescado a lo Macho, a seafood dish in a creamy savory sauce, was superb! The squid, mussels, shrimp, fish all had perfect texture, fresh and tender, not chewy at all, and the sauce so addicting, truly excellent and left me wishing I could compliment the chef. Fried plantains were a delight as well, crispy edges and soft sweet center, not greasy at all. Another must try is the Purple Corn juice, refreshing and sweet! I don't expect much when it comes to service at true local joints but our server was sweet, quick, and helpful. I just hope they get busier because their food really is exceptional and deserves more attention.

Before this Peruvian place was here, there was a Mexican place. I came for a nice brunch with 3 of my friends. Although I wanted to try the churrasco, but unfortunately they didn't have it that day, so my second choices were the steak with egg with French Fries, sweet yellow plantain and white rice on the side. Not very often has a white rice impressed me, beside the one that my aunt's, mother or sister cooks, but this time I have to highlight the good taste that the rice had, it took me to my old days when I used to eaten it every day. The steak was very juicy and I really enjoy it. The eggs and fries had a good taste. My steak was medium and the eggs were over easy; I love how the way my egg albumen, bathed my steak and then dipped my fries and rice on it. The staff was very courteous, friendly; even the owner was there and he stops to say to make sure that everything was fine and Hi to us.

    Cabrito! Delicious!

New owners are really great. Food is on point and service is very friendly. The pollo a la brasa had a great flavor and was super-moist.

The bar in the front was busy but the dining room was pretty empty so we were able to choose our table. First thing that stood out to me was the cute vibes of the place. The art work on the walls and different backdrops- great for a photo session. We were given two paper menus and an iPad with photos of the food. That was pretty cool, especially for someone like me who likes to see photos of the food I'm eating before I even choose a restaurant. Service was fine and staff were friendly however the wait time for our food especially in an empty dining room took a while. Now, the food was AMAZING. We ordered Cuba Tabaco y Ron (Latino eggrolls) as an app - SO good. We got a Lomo Sushi Roll to share, which was tasty. I got the Roasted Pernil and my husband got the Honey Glazed Salmon. Both were delicious and filling. Would definitely check this place out if you enjoy Latin fusion food. It's such a cute and romantic place. I will say I got a headache from the red lights above us, I wish there would have been more clear lighting at the table but regardless this is a place to check out.

Besides almost every table full at 1:15 lunch...including the back room and it is a large restaurant. We were seated without a wait. Took longer to navigate the huge menu. Hubby and I just wanted a light lunch. He ordered the chicken wings and I ordered the "fish" sandwich w/o cheese. Unfortunately, I was served the chicken sandwich with avacado, onions, tomato and lettuce. (No cheese as requested). Once I took a bite I realized I had the wrong samdwich. Waiter apologized and offered to switch it up...I can see he felt bad and we were not quite sure where we both messed up...could have been me? Him? Not a big deal...I just kept it and enjoyed. Slightly dry (cheese would have fixed the dryness) but seasoned perfectly. It was a large sandwich with two layers of thin grilled chicken. I would split it next time. I like the way it was served...wrapped in a paper. I requested un-seasoned fries and my request was honored. It was all a generous portion. The restaurant is high energy, food around us all looked delicious and fresh, cocktails looked really good...I wanted to taste the cappuccino martini next to us...tempting to order one. Service was timely, friendly and efficient. Noise level a tad high however it was easy enough to carry on a conversation. Overall, I understand the reason this place was so busy...definately a solid fun place...wish it were on my neighborhood as I enjoy exploring different dishes. Thumbs up for sure.

The idea of dinner and a movie for Valentine's Day felt perfect. The ambiance did not disappoint -- great lighting, good music, and aesthetically pleasing throughout. It definitely sets the tone for a nice evening out. A prior 8 PM reservation was made, and arrival was slightly early. The hostess shared that the table was being cleaned and asked that guests wait by the bar. While waiting, other parties who arrived later were seated ahead, including at the same table that had been mentioned as being prepared. Unfortunately, seating ultimately occurred about one hour after arrival -- approximately 50 minutes past the reservation time. After asking a server for assistance, she was kind, apologetic, and seated us immediately. That gesture was appreciated and the most positive interaction of the evening. Valentine's Day is understandably busy, and delays can happen. However, the concern was less about the wait itself and more about the inconsistency in honoring reservations and communication. While the server handled the situation professionally once it was brought to her attention, the overall experience had already been impacted. Unfortunately, despite being seated, the evening no longer felt aligned with the plans that had been made, and the decision was made to leave. Hopefully this was an isolated occurrence, as the space itself has great potential.

I quickly consulted The Yelp and found this nice sit-down place, so we came on over and enjoyed a restaurant to ourselves on a Saturday afternoon. (I won't lie - "Ixchel Bakery" caught my eye first for the name alone - but I haven't checked that out yet; we were there for lunch, not dessert.) What caught me first is that the logo sign inside is exactly what Yelp events want. I told them about potentially hosting Yelp events in the future... Anyway, the menu is straight Dominican Republic, and I enjoyed comparing the similarities and differences to my local Honduran restaurant. Some very authentic dishes on the menu here, lovingly and authenticly prepared. We started with a pair of empanadas for appetizer, the res and the pollo y queso. I'm an empanada snob but these have a nice balance of ingredients and flavors, good size for the price. While the mondongo intrigued me, I went with the equally intriguing Yaroa, a Dominican street food with meat and cheese on a bed of green plantains (or fries, if you prefer), topped with ketchup and white sauce. I'm not a ketchup person, but I wanted the dish exactly as it comes, and that's good because it tasted excellent as it came. And it arrived right as we finished the empanadas. The staff were very friendly, but a bit focused on kitchen operations; I did have to flag someone down at one point for a water refill. So that is the one imperfection in an otherwise wonderful experience, and not worth docking a star over. I would absolutely come back here again. The owner was talking potential redecoration, I was talking about trying other dishes - so there are convenient excuses moving forward. :)
