By that time I was full but managed to leave a small spot for my entree of steak and shrimp fajitas. It came out smoking hot (you can see the smoke in my picture), nice crispness to the veggies and the steak and shrimp seasoned to perfection! It came with guacamole, sour cream, rice and black beans. However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

It has a full dining room and kitchen staff to handle large orders with no problem. We've been ordering lunch regularly and La Gladys has the best value with daily specials for a flat $13. This includes an entree, soup of the day and a drink (choice of chicha morada, maracyua, can of soda or water). There are 3 daily entree choices which can include different types of beef or chicken stew, beefsteak, fried or rotisserie chicken, fried fish fillet, pork chops and some vegetarian dishes. Sometimes they even have stir-fried beef tripe! The main dish usually comes with a choice of 1-2 side dishes, rice, fries or salad. The pint of soup varies between chicken, beef & pork, sometimes with rice, polenta or pasta. If we are ever in town in the evening, I would love to try them for dinner but for now that daily lunch special cannot be beat! Diagonal metered street parking is readily available. Just remember to feed the meter and don't even think about u-turning on Mamaroneck Ave. MPD cars & bikes are all over here and will be on you so fast!

It was most unusual that our party of four all ordered the same. We started with a special app - Fried Shrimp & Calamari. Soo Delish! We followed with the signature dish, Cod Fish & Chips.
