So far, the best Chinese food in Tri Cities! We had almost given up finding a good Chinese and resigned ourselves that Panda was the best it was going to get. That is until we went into Mandarin House. The food was fresh with great flavor and outstanding service. Definitely nothing fancy when you walk in, but we had a fantastic meal. The best in the Tri-Cities. Not fancy, but fast and fresh. The soft noodles here just amazing and taste like the ones I've had in Taiwan. I do not recommend going here! I think this restaurant was seriously a house at one point in time. It is very small and you can hear every one else's conversations loud and clear. I ordered a pop and she handed me a can of coke. I paid $1.25 for this can of Coke that I did not get refills on. The food was good, but all I received was a plate of the chicken that I ordered and a bowl of white rice that I had to share with my partner. We paid a lot more that we should have for only getting the chicken and rice. If you want a good Chinese food experience go to Shang Hi during their lunch time. read more

I am notoriously picky about Asian food, so when a friend of mine suggested Mandarin House for an early dinner, I was a little skeptical. I had never heard of the place before even though I've lived in the Tri-Cities for a decade, and I actually confused it with another restaurant in Kennewick (shame on me!) I almost drove past it as the sign is modest and the entrance to the parking lot can be easily missed. When I walked in, my first thought was that it was really small as I only saw one side of their dining room. However, I was greeted warmly by a kind hostess and offered hot tea and water while I waited on my friend. I took the time to peruse the menu and was happy with the selection as there was variety but it wasn't overwhelming. When my friend arrived, she suggested the Po Po Platter as an appetizer. Not only was it delicious (not just a platter of uniformly deep fried foods here) but the presentation was fun, too. It was served with a small fire on which you can grill the pork and bbq to your liking. When we ordered our entrees, we ended up splitting the almond chicken, Mongolian beef and mapu tofu, which I was pleased to even see on the menu. The service was friendly and quick. Everything was delicious, perfectly cooked and authentically flavored. I definitely feel like this is one of the Tri-Cities hidden gems, and I was happy to see that they got pretty busy throughout the evening, especially with takeout orders. Wowza! Mandarin House's location is absolutely perfect to mine when I am commuting to and from school. Of course, I am commuting during lunch hour, which happens to be a deal that Mandarin House rocks at. You receive a choice between two delicious soups, fried rice or steamed white rice, an egg roll and and entree. I highly recommend the Mongolian beef. It has a more than adequate amount of zest with a hint of zeal. It complements the rice perfectly. If we are being honest, this meal is one of my favorite comfort foods. The service here is awesome. All of the employees are super friendly and make sure that you feel at home. The price is affordable, and the quantity of food that you will find sitting on your plate it awesome. You will find yourself getting so absorbed in your meal that when you find yourself in the clean platers club you will be wishing for more. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good authentic Chinese food in the area. I'm a regular at Mandarin House. It's not very authentic, but, it is very good. The portions are large enough that I always get two meals and the prices are good. My favorite is the cashew chicken while my wife favors the garlic chicken. We've tried other meals and like them, but, always go back to our favorites. read more

Their Mongolian beef is superb! It might look a little old-fashioned in the establishment comma but it is good Chinese food and made more authentically than other locations. The Mandarin house is my favorite place for Chinese in our area. The owner offers amazing service and is very kind and accomodating. I am pregnant with my first child and this is the only place that has not made me sick that I have eaten out at in the last 6 months. I love the paper wrapped chicken appetizer, fried chicken with almond gravy, the orange chicken, the seafood deluxe, and the mongolian beef! My husband is a huge fan of the various types of chow mein. The Ooolong Tea they offer with every meal is excellent and the fortune cookies are the best I have ever had! Although it is not on the menu, they offer Egg Foo Young on Mondays and Tuesdays. What is remarkable about this particular dish is that it is not pre made or frozen.
