I ordered dinner for 1. 2 won ton soups and 2 get 2 free spring rolls. Never again. Dinner for one included 4 sweet and sour chicken balls. NO SWEET and sour sauce. The wonton soup....came with the dried noodles and they were brought in a zip lock lunch bad. They tasted rancid. The chicken was ALL fat. The skinny noodles were so dry. No sauce at all. This Mandarin is located in a strip mall at the north west corner of Brant and Fairview. This strip mall though, wow. Staples store, what used to be a tiny Michaels by Michael's standards some tinier bath store or something like that and the Mandarin at the end. This parking lot? Full, completely full on a Wednesday at noon. It's safe to say the parking lot had nothing to do with the empty store of what used to be Michael's and nobody's going to park all the way by Mandarin for Staples. Was the parking lot mostly for Mandarin? Well the inside of the restaurant would lead you to believe this place is busy in the middle of the week for lunch. I'm afraid to think what it would be like on a holiday or a weekend for dinner. That being said about how busy this place is and the amount of Mandarin restaurants I've been to around the GTA including Etobicoke, Brampton, Vaughan that this one is really no different with slight layout differences but the food and buffet stations are pretty much standard and the offerings the same all around. While it was lunch there didn't seem to be any sashimi at the sushi station and I didn't see anything in the cold or hot seafood really but lunch is lunch and dinner is dinner. The first go around the station had completely been depleted of two main deep fried staples which were the fried torpedo breaded shrimp and chicken wings. The second round those items were both replenished and didn't seem to deplete after round 4. The seating in our sectioned was cramped. There was a completely empty section inside which wasn't opened I supposed unless somebody was to come in with 20+ people. Our section was packed and we were packed in as well. There was very little elbow room and we were on a table for about 20. Being to packed into a room with several other groups is inconvenient to be able to move around when there is at least one entire section of the restaurant that are not even used. As for the food it's pretty much the same standard from all the other Mandarins. Hot station, sushi station, carving station, salad bar (cold plates), dessert bar, ice cream as well as a froyo machine. Nothing is really exceptional and nothing isn't too bad. For the most part as far as buffets go it's busy, decent and they serve their purpose. Personally I prefer made to order Cantonese, Hakka and Sichuan over buffet any day. The buffet gives you a variety and well it is all you can eat. Still, if I'm doing AYCE I prefer Korean/Japanese over Mandarin as far as bang for the buck goes. read more

Spring rolls are not good. Even quality of oil was so disappointing and it was disgusting. Apart from that, Fries and onion rings are too cold and bad in taste it was like left over from last night. Furthermore, smoothies look good but taste was too sweet not balanced properly. Overall experience was not good, I hope they will make changes to improve food quality. read more

We were hesitant to get off the highway to go to the Mandarin in Burlington as we had not been in there in some time and our last visit wasn't that impressive. It turned out we hadn't been there in a lot longer than "some time". We discovered the that they had moved but a helpful local pointed us to their new location. We found it easily. We were very impressed with everything! The atmosphere was bright and calming. The service was impeccable and the food was excellent. We had a Mandarin "virgin" with us. She could not have been more impressed and became an instant fan. She will be visiting the one in her home town now. It was a wonderful visit. I came here with a large group for lunch for Saturday. We had arrived early at 10:50AM since our previous event had ended early. Sadly they weren't open until 11:30AM. One of us called them and asked if we could come and stand inside since it was kind of chilly outside and they let us in! The manager was fabulous and it was so nice of her to do that. They led us to our table around 11:20AM when they finished setting up the buffet. I love the variety they have at the salad bar. I had the surimi (imitation crab) salad, Swiss chicken salad, baby corn salad, the steamed shrimp with cocktail sauce to start. For my second plate I had the assortment of sushi, breaded tornado shrimp, sweet and sour chicken balls Third plate: the barbecued spareribs, golden fried chicken wings, sweet and sour Peking style pork, plain soft noodles As you can see there is something for everyone! I may have gained a few pounds but it was definitely worth it to come in since I haven't been in a while. The service was great as well. The waiters and waitresses consistently made sure the plates we were done with were cleared and that our waters were always filled. Came in at 9, and even though the buffet closed at 9:30 the food was hot and fresh, we were welcomed as soon as we entered by several staff, the serving staff was very sensitive to our needs - my glass was regularly refilled after only a single sip! very rude people who work there. They took our forks, spoons and knifes away before we where done our meals. We where still on our main meals and have not gotten any desserts and they where already bringing around the warm towels. They need people who speak better english. Talk about rushing us out of the restaurant. The reason was they had a football team that took up the whole room and wanted our table of 12 people. Worst service ever. I love food and now that Tuckers Marketplace has begun to lower their standards our new family buffet of choice is Mandarin which on my last few visits has been absolutely terrific. The food is acceptable for a buffet and there is a decent assortment unfortunately I'm a Rice, Noodle, Pasta type person so I tend to fill up before I get to try everything but still end up finishing 2 or more plates. Definitely recommended for people looking for a buffet in Burlington. read more

First time at the newly renovated Mandarin restaurant in Burlington with the family for Easter lunch. Fairly spacious with several rooms, each room designed uniquely from one another with intriguing art work in each. From the get-go, your greeted upon arrival, the host walks you around pointing out various hot tables. Staff are friendly, the cooks are quite entertaining the waiter/waitress always makes sure you are taken care of. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of buffets, however, when the fam goes I'm a sport & tag along. If I ever had to point my finger to one that served quality service with exceptional fresh food in the GTA, it would be Mandarin. There's something to like here for just about everyone! read more

I have attempted to walk into this place a couple of times but the stench wafting out from the buffet simply just carried me back out of the door. My wife went there once and she absolutely despised the disgusting taste of the food and the stench obviously didn't help. I love Chinese food but I don't need to be an expert to say that Chinese food is not supposed to stink like the Mandarin's buffet does. I usually drive up to Markham if I am craving authentic Chinese food. Blossom city in Burlington also does a reasonable job at cooking North American version of Chinese food (chicken balls with red sauce etc). read more

This location has been my location since it opened in the Mapleview plaza late 80's. I even had them host my wedding party reception in the private room it was amazing. However I am so sad to say in recent visits our dining experiences have been less than pleasing. The service is always great and friendly but the quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired. The grill bar for one is usually empty with a very poor selection of fish when most mandarins I visit outside of Burlington offer grilled chicken, steak and sausage that's awesome!! Secondly the prime rib hot bar is always low in supply for the potatoes and carrots etc... and no one there to serve you. The fried chicken wings in the main bar are fried soooo hard we cannot even chew them (almost as if they were refried), and the shrimp at times is very rubbery and the ribs tough to chew. Needless to say I was very surprised but disappointed. I understand some places have off nights and that's ok but this has been the consistent trend here lately. On this last visit my dad took some of the mushrooms but they were actually black in colour instead of the white they should be and long past there expiry date and should have never been used for the hot bar. I made my dad leave them. We still visit here every now and again but our family now venture out more often to the Oakville location on hwy 5 it is absolutely awesome every time we go so worth the effort to drive. I hope the Burlington Mandarin can find it's way back to the level it started at but unfortunately, currently it is not worth the price they charge for the selection and poor quality you are receiving at this location. We chose to dine a la carte instead of buffet. The soup we ordered was not served prior to our main dishes , in fact 2 entree dishes sat on our table for at least 5 mins, prior to the first bowl of soup coming out. We had to ask for the other two servings of soup to be served. By the time we began to eat, the food was cold. Aside from that, it was the most tasteless, disgusting Chinese food we have ever eaten. The selection of food was good but I was disappointed they removed the duck from the menu. I was told they close at 1030 but only it said 11. What made it worse was that at 1010 they started removing food and not asking the guests. Overall it is a good place mostly because the service was good. From excellent Seafood, to Chinese, Japanese, and even traditional Sunday dinner-style. A huge range of starters, appetizers, first course, second course, deserts, and more! I thought the food was to salty and the sashimi wasn't fresh and the crap legs had no flavor just bland. Also for the price they only had crab legs and not lobster as well.
