Finally came back to Mandarin for their Christmas buffet. My family and I used to go frequently for a special treat. It was nice to see the place was busy as ever with large parties celebrating birthdays, workplace holiday parties and families celebrating the holidays. The food quality has not gone downhill, in fact it might be even better than before. The service was top notch with all staff working together to provide the best customer service experience, from the manager, to the host, to our servers and other staff. We were greeted upon exit by friendly staff who provided a candy and thanked us for our visit. They had a seasonal Holiday Drink Menu with a blended drink called Happy Ho Ho Ho! It looked so festive when it was brought to the table. It was a blend of Piña Colada and Strawberry Freeze featuring Captain Morgan Rum served in a souvenir glass that you can take home. Also available in a Piña Colada and Mango Freeze mix. They also serve Royal Martinis, Mandarin Coffee with Baileys, Grand Marner and with a hint of chocolate, and non-alcoholic Blueberry Lychee Fizz. They even had salmon sashimi and real fish in their sushi, something previously not seen before. The hot food was fresh and constantly replenished even as it got closer to the end of the buffet time. All the favourites were there along with some traditional Chinese dishes. The dessert choices were so plentiful, it was was hard to choose which ones to have with limited real estate left in my tummy! I am not from Canada, and have never been to a Mandarin Restaurant before, but I'm so glad that we ran across it while in Toronto. They were a little pricey, but the quality of the food was great, and worth the money. We did an early father's day celebration, and Mandarin had something for everyone in my family (even the picky child). Some of my favorites were the skinny noodles, the teriyaki meatballs, and pretty much everything off of the salad bar. The dessert area was full of delicious things. The creme Brule, lemon meringue, and the macarons were my favorite. The parking was free, and we paid in card. The staff were great, and ALL greeted us when we walked in with a big "Welcome to Mandarin!" We didn't make reservations on a Saturday evening, but we got in with about a 20 minute wait. The decor is very fancy, and probably the nicest decorated Chinese buffet I've been to. The parking was free on the day that we went, but I'm not sure if it is regularly. I was pleasantly surprised by this buffet. They have a variety of dishes that is not typical for these types of buffets. There's a carving station, sushi, a variety of soups, salad bar, desserts, and your more traditional Chinese food. The hot towel they give you when you sit down is so nice! Mandarin is a popular buffet choice with our friends especially during special occasions. We were here to celebrate a birthday, but they didn't have enough seating to accommodate our group; management was quick to fix the problem. I was very impressed on how the staff handled our large group. We were warmly greeted by the wait staff and there was always someone available to attend to our needs. Water was frequently topped off and dirty dishes promptly removed. On the way out, we were all thanked and given a complimentary pink mint from a pretty glass bowl. My friends love this clean location and have been coming here for over now 10 years. I've joined them on a few occasions for the AYCE venue like tonight. It's been a while since we've been back at the Mandarin (a family favourite) and we had the BEST service when we were celebrating my dad's 81st birthday! Grace and Wendy were AMAZING and attentive and Mr Kong (the manager) was appreciative and a pleasure to speak to when he visited our table to check in us (twice!) So happy with the quality of the food, fresh and plentiful - trays were always stocked and fresh! The service at the stations was great and everyone seemed happy to be a part of the team. Great location. I've been here many times with my family as we left with smiles and our bellies full. Everyone minds their own business and grabs their plate of delicious food. The staff are polite and I've never had a problem with anyone. I highly recommend this place to anyone who hasn't been here already. If it's one thing your missing, I would have to say it's your delicious Teriyaki meatballs. I hope you bring it back one day, because that was one of my favourite things to eat whenever I went to Mandarin as a young lad. I am not happy where I cannot walk into the Mandarin on my birthday which is coming up this month, Thurs, Nov 25 and get a free buffet or in my case a free dinner under $25 before taxes as my birthday is not on a buffet day, Fri, Sat or Sun. in past years I only had to walk in, show my Canadian passport on my birthday and have a free buffet. I most always but once every 2-3 years dine out by myself. And never go with friend at the Mandarin. When dining out with a friend, it is most always Swiss Chalet. So I am very, very unpleased that I need to not only have someone accompany me on my birthday. have to have 3 people accompany me. And have to do this online. I do not have a printer either. Mandarin has implemented serving smaller portions at an affordable price rather than all you can eat for a flat rate. I went with my friend and found the prices and portions affordable enough to try a variety of different food for less than how much we would've had to pay with the flat rate fee. The staff were nice and welcoming whilst taking safety measures to prevent the spread, they provided us with wet towels before and after eating, brown paper bags to put our masks, wrapped utensils for each guest and extra utensils for those who want to share dishes. I accidentally checked the wrong box when I was ordering and they gladly replaced it without hesitation. The staff checked up on us occasionally making sure we were satisfied and were open to receive feedback to ensure everyone had a good experience coming back. This new system works great for going out to eat with friends who don't like to eat much but are open to trying different foods, I will definitely be coming back and can't wait for them to re-open as a buffet once the pandemic is over read more

Sick of pizza and the same old deliveries....we went looking for something new. I didn't realize Mandarin delivered.....so I thought...ok let's try it. I'm super picky and easily annoyed...but I Just ordered take out from there for the first time and I have to say I was super impressed. Delivery was FREE and super fast. They included a free treat and the food was HOT like fresh out of the kitchen. Nicely packaged, no leaking.....food was DELISH, and the driver could NOT have been nicer. I order a LOT of take out...and if I do say so, this might have been the BEST one I have ever ordered. I ordered #205....Family Dinner for 5 so there was Lots of food. When someone says "Hey let's go to a buffet," I swear everyone thinks of Mandarin right away. I've been to this Mandarin location several times. This location is not horrible, but it's not the best location either. I definitely prefer the Markham location over this one. The staff here are nice, they are constantly walking around and if you need something they are ready to help you out. One big thing about this restaurant would be that they can get some renovations done. Food wise, the selection is pretty good, however there aren't many choices like the Markham location. First off, I LOVE Mandarin and their food. Our waiter was really nice and friendly, his name is Eric. He kept refilling my water all throughout my stay which was a great attentive touch, as well. My spoon on the other hand is disgusting (I have a picture posted to my review of it)!! It looks like burnt chicken or charcoal that can be scraped off - BARF! My niece's spoon was also dirty. A lot of us at my table asked for disposable cutlery. The food on the other hand was amazing as always. I had the breaded shrimp, the mixed vegetables, sushi, Cesar salad, vegetable fried rice, Shanghai noodles, crab legs, pizza and salmon fillet, all of which were great (except the fries as they were on the cold side). For dessert I had fresh fruit, bread pudding (amazing), creme brûlée, rice pudding and lemon cake. No complaints there either! Two staff members sang happy birthday to my sister, gave her a little piece of cake with a candle to blow out, and printed out a complimentary picture in a magnet frame. I come for crab legs and this location is one of the best because the buffet is well stocked. I have no problem finding claw pieces - my favourite! The waitress Wendy didn't want to bring crackers- after asking her several times, se brought one set for my table of two. The last time I came here, she was the waitress then too - would only bring one set for our table of 3! She isn't very attentive and wasn't really concerned about getting dirty plates off the table. No waffles in this dessert bar- but thats okay. There was lots to choose from, including chocolate covered BACON!!! Never saw that before- ever ! Overall, it was a good experience. This is one of the better locations that I've been to. Will definitely be coming back for those crab legs... just may consider coming with my own cracker to avoid Wendy's sneer. read more

It's been a while since I ordered Chinese food for delivery. When I placed the order the lady was very nice and professional. She told me to expect the food in 60 to 90 minutes. It arrived it about 20 minutes. The food at the buffet is good but this is my first time ordering delivery from the Mandarin. Portions are large. Prices are reasonable. The quality was almost what I expect from Chinese food delivery with one exception: the beef in the beef and broccoli was tough. Usually the beef is very tender. Most people yelping about Mandarin seem to have one major complaint - that this place is not genuine Chinese food. I see this as a case of misinformation and over expectation. 90% of "Chinese" buffets in North America serve an eclectic collection of Chinese, Japanese and North American food. This is also the reason for their major success - you get almost anything you want to eat, for incredibly low prices. So lets get this out of the way first....YES. Mandarin is just a typical North American Chinese buffet. If you want authentic chinese fare, you are reading about the wrong restaurant. But that being said, Mandarin is also one of the better buffet places you'll find in Toronto. The location on Eglington-Birchmount is quite convenient for East Torontonians (is that what we are called?) and people in Scarborough. The parking space is decently big, and Mandarin customers get free parking for 3 hours. (which should be more than enough, and if it's not, I worship thy eating capabilites.) TTC buses stop right at the door too. The interior is pleasant and the waiters look sweet in their bright green beach themed shirts. The service was quite good, considering how packed the place was when we arrived. First timers also get a tour of the entire spread. The salad bar is pretty extensive, and the surimi salad is to die for. There are enough fried things to keep the calorie lover busy. Most people don't trust the sushi at buffets, but I noticed these guys didn't have any raw ones. The fried chicken teriyaki sushi was edible, and die hard sushi fans won't mind filling themselves with that. Apart from a lot regular chinese dishes, you will also find roast beef, pizza and grilled sausages! The desserts are good too, and definitely worth saving enough space. The blueberry cheesecake was a bit stiff, but the caramel custard and the lemon meringue pie were just delicious. You can also give those almond cookies a try. To end it all, there are 7 or 8 different ice creams to choose from. (including low cal sherbets, although somehow coming to a buffet and looking for low cal food doesn't add up!). I took away one star because of the noisy children running around and the slightly disappointing blueberry cheesecake. The bottom line? Definitely a must try place for people who love a lot of food, of decent quality, for a fair price. Food snobs who are looking for "authentic chinese" can stay away. P.S: Like most buffet places, the lunch is cheaper on weekdays, and the dinners on weekends are the most expensive. But you also get shrimp cocktail and crab legs on weekends! read more

I've been to this Mandarin Buffet many times with friends and family before. I've always noticed that the service is really good considering it's a buffet. The staff are friendly and they say the simple things like "enjoy your meal" or wave at you as you leave. The servers clear off your plate quickly and refill napkins and tea without us even asking! The food, well it's a regular Chinese buffet food. They have a really good dessert/fruits area, which a lot of buffets seem to lack. They have a sushi area, which I never go to but it's there. The only thing they're missing is probably a soft-serve ice cream machine and a dim sum area. Lunch is 13.99, it's such a great value. I don't see any reason not to go here, even if you were on a diet, their fruits and veggie section is pretty damn good. read more

I have been in this location only twice. (I have been in other locations as well) The first time was almost 2 year and it wasn't good as I expected. The second time was just few days ago.. I could say "I love it!" I feel like they have more choices and especially Crab!! We had to make a reservation bcoz it was very busy at the time. Service was good. They greeted us very nice and most of them was friendly. There was one guy always came to check us and filled up our water. Thank you for ur caring :) Unfortunately, they didn't have good sauce for seafood. I love spicy and sour sauce that goes very well with seafood stuff. I hope they will have it in the future.
