We had come here on a Saturday evening at around 5:00 pm for dinner. When we walked-in, we had to provide our name and the number of guests to the hostess, whom then asked us to step-aside while they provided a table for us. After a few moments, we were greeted by a kind younger lady, whom brought us to our table, while giving us some instructions on our dining room number and how long we were able to dine for. After being seated, we were then introduced to our server, whom asked if we wanted any drinks. We decided on a water each, then preceded to the buffet where we began with the meat carving station. We were impressed with how many food items were available, and how delicious they all tasted. I loved how all of the items were hot (temperature-wise), with items being replaced quickly once the trays were emptied. Once we had finished our meal, we had asked for the bill however, it did take some time to arrive, as it was quite busy in the restaurant. We were also given a calander for the next calander year, which we thought was a nice touch. All in all, we enjoyed our experience here, as the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was inviting. The food is worth the price in terms of quantity of options available, including an extensive number of options for desserts. Quality-wise, definitely above average. I'd recommend making a reservation during peak hours which you can check online, including for Friday lunch when it gets filled fast from the corporate crowd from neighboring offices. I am a fan of hibachi. Always my go-to when I'm hungry because I just want to eat everything. This place goes beyond the usual hibachi. They provided warm towels before and another after meal. I've been to 5 Mandarine Restaurants in Ontario in the past 5 days, and so far this is the worst one. I asked for water and they pulled the water from the next table over and put it in my table. The Giant Surf clam was slimy (old & past date) the tuna was discolored, again (old & past date). I sampled the buffalo chicken wings, as I have for the past 4 days in other Mandarine Restaurants, the wings were DRY, over cooked and I would bet, they were left over from the day before, thrown in the oil and then served. I can't get a napkin, server said "can I bring you a steak knife", but then forgot. Many servers walking around but nobody helping. I spoke to the front of house manager and when I explained the dry wings, the reason was, "maybe we got a bad batch from our supplier". I will NOT come back to this location. read more

I recently visited Mandarin Restaurant in Toronto with old friend's family , and it was an excellent experience! They took us there, and we were delighted by the variety and quality of the food. From hot dishes and cold dishes to a sushi bar, pizza, and desserts, there were plenty of options to choose from, and everything was delicious. As it was my birthday week, the staff went above and beyond to make it special for me. They brought out a little cupcake with a candle and even made a photo magnet as a keepsake! Always a great experience. Not a fan of buffets but this one is really good. Their roast beef dinner pays for the whole thing. Even serve yorkshire pudding with it. Excellent. Always eat way too much because everything is so yummy. Desserts are my wife's favourite. Gotta drag her away LOL!!! The sushi bar is excellent . I love this seaweed thing they serveat the sushi bar. Guess his concern for his customers experience is not worth his time aside from a generic reply! Update review for visit Sat, Oct 5/24: Down to 1 star!! I was at this location in February and had the best experience with amazing fresh food (see 5/5 review below this one), and was very impressed with the Prime Rib, so I convinced 2 out of town friends to join me for dinner last night to try this amazing food. As per always, we were greeted with friendly smiles (still 5/5 for service). After getting our appetizers and sat down at our table to eat, it seemed a swarm of fruit flies had followed us from the buffet to our table. It was hard to enjoy our food as we kept swooshing them away. After going for our second plate, we all noticed the fruit flies were everywhere, some even landing on the food trays! That grossed us out so bad we all lost our appetites! I insisted we go for the Prime Rib station I was raving about, and as there was an employee there to cut our slices, we didn't notice any flies -probably swooshing them away, so we were excited to eat and enjoy our dish. Well wow what another huge disappointment! The prime rib was overcooked (zero pink), dry as tree bark, and so rough and chewy, our knives couldn't even cut it! It's dinner rush hour on your busiest night - Saturday, why would you be serving your highest paying customers (more expensive weekend evening prices) an inedible chewy dry slab of meat that seemed like it was left out from the night before?! I even went back to give it another chance and grabbed one of the huge meaty rib bones that are usually the tenderest, and as good as it looked, when I bit into it, it was like chewing on leather! I couldn't take another bite from that portion as well. So now all that was left for us to try was the desserts - wow that was even worse! After we each got a dessert plate, we went to different areas of the dessert stations, and within seconds, we simultaneously looked at each other whilst slapping away more fruit flies than dessert options! How does not even one staff member/manager notice such a disgusting issue?!! I can't imagine how many flies people unnoticingly ate that were probably stuck to their food from landing on the hot plates! What's even worse is WHY there are so many fruit flies in the first place?! What do they have rotting so bad back in the kitchen that there are so many flies that follow the food trays out into the food service area?! There were more fruit flies inside that restaurant in an October fall season, than I've ever seen even eating outside in a grassy picnic area on a hot summer day! This was literally the worst dining experience any of us have ever had at any restaurant. Maybe they should take 8 out of the 10 staff that happily greeted us when we arrived, and put them in charge of getting rid of the flies/reason they are present. We will never be going back to ANY Mandarin location after all of us being regular customers for decades! Quality food, and incredibly varied selection. Super clean. This location is in an industrial area where you wouldn't expect a restaurant. It really is an impressive place both outside and especially inside. There are multiple food stations where the food is very attractively displayed. The best part is the staff. They are very attentive, extremely polite, and constantly checking on you and taking away your used plates. Even the manager is constantly making the rounds to all tables making sure you are being well taken care of. I was craving Chinese food the other day and ordered delivery. They deliver for free on orders of $20+. I wanted different dishes but since I was the only one eating, ended up getting Kung Pao shrimp and the shrimp combo for one consisting of two spring rolls, torpedo shrimp, shrimp with almonds and vegetables and shrimp fried rice. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. We were in a private room for a party and the servers did a fairly decent job with getting drink orders and bringing hot towels, etc. The food is mediocre but as expected for a buffet. Lots of options available so its easy for everyone to get something to eat.....from salads, to sushi, to grilled items to rice, noodles, meat dishes and veg dishes. Not worth their price. 6 dumplings and 6 ribs would be fair, imo. My suggestion would be for them to still allow for a.y.c.e with their dimsum style menu. OR keep the prices per dish, but only charge a table once and allow a.y.c.e. order of that item. So charge me the 5.99 for the first plate of spare ribs, but if i order a 2nd plate, no additional costs. Its just becausd mandarin is a known buffet, they would do better with keeping to that theme. Now, it was a special menu for the Chinese New Year, so I'm not sure how good they really are on a normal weekend lunch, but today, when I went, the selection was great. The salads tasted amazing. I particularly loved the broccoli cranberry salad. It was a delight! Each salad had it's own distinct flavour, which I love, I loved the grilled fish and chicken, they had salmon sashimi and tilapia sashimi (I didn't try the tilapia sashimi), barbecue salmon and a very nicely spiced and hot curry asian chicken. The chicken wings tasted all right. Overall, I really liked the place. When you leave, they offer you a pink mint and a red envelope with a mandarin coin with a whole in the middle. Was expecting to have a good experience, as I usually go to the other location in Mississauga, but was pretty disappointed. The place was smaller and slightly too warm. The staff was friendly and polite. As to the food, I would describe it as not bad. There was less variety in comparison to the other location ( no sashimi at all !!!) the salmon on the sushi was warm and seemed to be old. My bf always gets the chicken fried rice in the other location but there was only the vegetarian option available. Once we arrived a lady put up a sign for salmon but in the time we were there it never got there. Food was in general somewhat dry and quality not up to part. I've been living in Toronto for about 3.5 years now and just this last Friday I made my first visit to a Mandarin restaurant. This place is straight-up dirty feed at it's best. No person ever needs to eat at a buffet but sometimes you just have to dive head-first into gluttony. I wouldn't say Mandarin is different than any other Chinese buffet you've been to in the past other than that they might have a slightly larger selection and the presentation is a little nicer in some cases. Now, everyone likes good service at a restaurant, but these guys go a little too far. When the server is refilling your water glass practically after each sip, you know it's time to back-off. It's pretty annoying to have someone constantly reaching across the table to top up your glass. Besides, I'm not here to fill up on water, I'm here to stuff my face full of dumplings! Typically, mandarin is not my first choice for a buffet meal. But man oh man, their food is delicious. From the spicy beef, fried rice, chicken, grilled items and desserts. It's great that I can just eat and pick from all the choices they have. In terms of location, it's a great area near offices and such. The interior is more modern than the out of date exterior look. Very clean and staff that emphasizes on refilling your water after every sips. I'm not gonna lie, I think the price is a little high. I think that it can be cheaper considering that the food is not the healthiest choice. But overall experience was great and would definitely recommend this for big groups. DO not order pre order from Them. Pre ordered at 11am for a 645 time and they were over 2 hours late. The phone line was off the whole time we tried to find out where our food was. The line worked because they told us 20 minutes after our set time it would come within 45 minutes which is did not. My friend from Toronto that now lives in Victoria recommended this place to me in an email about a month ago. I was driving down Hurontario and saw it and thought about his email and figured I would stop in. I walked in and did not know that it was a buffet style restaurant. The woman that took my order let me know that I could still order something from the menu since lunch buffet was over and dinner buffet didn't start for a few hours so I did. I ordered the vegetarian combo meal which came with 2 spring rolls, vegetable fried rice, and Chow mein noodles with mixed vegetables. All I have to say was that this was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The rice had no flavor and was extremely dry with dried up cauliflower and carrots, the noodles were seriously just ramen swimming in chicken broth. I don't eat meat and chicken broth was not something that I was looking forward to tasting. I got the food to go and didn't realize this bad food till I got back to the hotel. I was not about to drive all the way back to the restaurant. So I tried to eat the rice and the spring rolls and threw the rest of it in the trash. Yes, I felt bad about wasting food, however I couldn't bring myself to sit there and actually eat it either. read more

The food at this Mandarin Buffet doesn't seem quite as good and as varied as the food served at the Mandarin Buffet located downtown Toronto - which is weird since we visited this location on a weekend whereas we visited the other location on a weekday. However, one of the notable differences was there were crab legs and a stuffer lobster type dish. My asian family and friends loaded up on these two dishes. Or, maybe I was just so overwhelmed and overstimulated by my first visit to Mandarin that my perception is a little skewed. Who knows?! We went there for dinner today. Was our first time here. We were greeted very warmly and were taken to our table where a server introduced himself to us and told us that he will be taking care of us. Throughout he was on top of everything, from water service to bussing dirty dishes. When he went on a break later on, he brought another server and introduced her to us telling us that he is going on a break and that the new server will be taking care of us. We got very nice service. As for the food, it was pretty good. They had a very decent selection of everything. From salads to soups to main dishes to deserts. Everything was tasteful. Mandarin is a traditional Chinese buffet. I don't normally go there cuz like other Chinese fast food restaurants they serve Americanized Chinese food. The dishes were standard Chinese fast food, but overall they were not to bad. the servants were very nice and attentive. read more
