General Tso's Chicken
Mr Philosopher ..

If you ever feel incredibly hungry and need a huge meal, this place is for you then. I've been coming here for many years now, first as kid with my family and now as an adult with my friends. The food here overall is pretty good, great General Tso chicken and great Jasmine tea! Tho I must emphasize that they have raised their prices up recently, which honestly I don't blame them, many privately owned restaurants had to do recently. But of course the portions you get is well worth the price.

Mandarin halal Chinese restaurant has great food. There soups are really good. Definitely the best halal soups in DMV area. I usually get chicken corn soup. Spicy wings and chilly chicken with rice. Yum yum yum!!!!

The server and staff were extremely rude. She was complaining to us how she has had enough for the day. We asked for a plastic to go box and she said they charge 1.50 for it. It's sad cuz it's always the "halal" places that do such things. It's not about the petty cash, but the attitude. She tells us, my customers come from two hours away. Like we have no value. Definitely not going back there.

I really like Mandarin. My mom had our family and extended family over for dinner here not too long ago and everything went well. The fish here is exceptional no matter how it is cooked. We really liked the Hunan style. The Mongolian beef and Hakka (very spicy) noodles were also favorites. We did not however like the Kung Pao Shrimp. it was cooked in a syrupy sweet sauce unlike we have ever had before. No one ate it and when a staff member noticed the uneaten portion, she offered to have it replaced with another option, so we ordered another portion of the Mongolian beef since everyone liked it so much. A pitcher of soda is $6, the food is moderately priced, but delicious. There is something for everyone on the menu!

I came here with a group of 8 on a Saturday night, it wasn't busy at all so we were seated rather quickly. Overall, I really liked this place and would come back again, however there were a few things that I did not like. First, the restaurant was a little dirty, even though they cleaned our table it still felt sticky. Second, I wish our waitress would have told us that we were ordering too much food because we didn't realize how huge the portion sizes were. I'd recommend the General Tso's, sweet and sour chicken and hot and sour soup. The spicy chicken wings didn't have any flavor,

Overpriced food is not good either. Would not recommend even though it's "halal" that does not mean you overcharge you idiots!

Ordered a large variety of dim sum, a salt and pepper pork chop dish, and a whole Peking duck! Everything came out hot and fresh so no complaints there. Let's talk taste though... Peking duck was just ok, very dark in color and did not have that authentic taste. I would not recommend this place for their Peking duck. Even the wrappers had a weird taste the fried salt and pepper pork chops lacked both salt and pepper! The dim sum was again just ok, like if you need your fix and didn't feel like driving too far, then here is fine. Service was great and food came out pretty fast. My one star off is for taste and authenticity, prob a non Chinese would find this place great.

The sesame noodles were just lo mein noodles with a tiny drizzle of sauce and a few sesame seeds, no real flavor except dough. The Chongqing chicken had some pieces that were refrigerator-level cold, the chiles had just been dumped on top and not stir-fried with the chicken, and there were zero Sichuan peppercorns, so not mala at all. The chicken fried rice and the scallion pancakes were overcooked, and there was no sauce with the pancakes. Asked for utensils and hot oil, received neither.

This restaurant offers carryout, delivery and limited dine-in. This is your typical Chinese food carryout joint. It is located in a small strip mall and has an adequate amount of parking available. There are a couple of tables with chairs available in the restaurant that you can sit and wait or dine at. They serve your typical Chinese food including sweet and sour chicken, pepper steak, moo goo gai pan, shrimp lo mein, orange chicken, and egg foo young. I ordered the General Tso's chicken, which I substituted the rice with lo mein noddles and it came with an egg roll. I was surprised, but it did not come with a fortune cookie. The staff was friendly enough. My interaction with them was very limited. It took between 5 and 10 minutes for them to prepare my meal and I took it to go. There was a ton of food. I did not finish it in one sitting. My meal was pretty good. It tasted well and I enjoyed it. I would definitely eat here again.

I called XO Taste Express to inquire about catering for fifty and the owner was SO helpful in helping me decide on a menu for our guest list. We decided to go with the seafood fried rice, stir fried vegetarian noodles, shrimp and papaya salad, lemongrass chicken, soy sauce chicken, and when she found out we were Filipino....ALLL ZEEE roasted pork aka: lechon. She was proud of her food and it showed. She also offered delivery for $25 which was really, really helpful since we would be rushing from church to our home to set up the party. This ensured that the food was delivered hot and fresh. Favorites of the party included the lemongrass chicken (as Anne C mentioned, that scallion sauce is totally crack), the extra crispy lechon, and seafood fried rice. Everyone was excited to try something new and coupled with a various other items we catered from other restaurants, the whole baptism was a hit with little effort on our part. I'll definitely work with them again! A few notes: - This is actually a stall inside a grocery store - They don't have a website with a catering menu so just take the time to speak with the owner. Her English is great and she is very friendly.

It shows! The weekday lunch combo specials are the real star here-for $10-$12, choose an egg roll or spring roll (or can soda), your choice of entree plus a side (white/brown/plain fried rice, can upgrade the side to things like pork lo mein, house fried rice etc for a max of $5.95 currently) A lunch special will legitimately feed me 3 or 4 times for the price of a fast food value meal, and it has veggies so I feel less guilt, haha If you select delivery, do it on their own website and opt for their own delivery to further support this gem of a small business!!
