Crispy Pork with Chili Garlic Sauce and Basil Leaves

Very wonderful hidden gem Thai restaurant in Springfield. Quiet and clean interior with comfortable seating options - booths and tables. Very friendly staff who checked in with us before the rest of our group arrived, making sure we were comfortable. The food was delicious - at the table we shared dumplings, red curry, crunchy pork belly, and pad thai. The servings were just enough for a hungry belly with no appetizers, with the exception of the pad thai - lots of volume there! Red curry medium spice wasn't too spicy at all, it was perfect. I don't visit this area often, but I am really glad we stopped in to try Thai Ghang Waan!

Stopped here for dinner with my family and it was delicious! We got here around 630pm during a weeknight and it was already packed inside. Located near the Brookfield plaza tucked near Bonchon. We ordered the chicken larb, watercress salad with seafood, pad see ew with beef and duck red curry. Everything was delicious! I loved the flavors of the larb and the watercress salad, citrusy, herby and spicy. Our entrees took a little but I didn't mind me everything was made to order. The dishes were piping hot and overall had great balance of savory and heat. The pad see ew had a great wok flavor. The red curry was tasty, a little spicy from the red curry subtle coconut taste. The watercress salad was my favorite along with the pad see ew. I also want to talk about the vibes inside this restaurant. The aesthetic of the place is amazing and allows you to feel relax and enjoy your meal. If you're in the mood for Thai food, definitely try this place out.

Probably one of the best Thai spots in the area. Everything we've tried on the menu was very good - papaya salad, crispy rice salad, the prawn pad Thai and crispy pork belly were excellent. Staff's very friendly and attentive. It's a great date night spot but definitely make a reservation.

Thai Ghang Waan absolutely blew us away. From the moment we sat down we were treated wonderfully with caring, prompt service. We ordered a few beers and a Thai iced tea (of course) and the bottled beers were served with chilled ice mugs. My group of 5 decided to order a few things and share family style. We ordered the chicken larb, som tum, pork lad na, pork pad see ew, and koh moo yang. All were incredibly tasty and large portions which was a perfect amount to share. We also ordered sticky rice to accompany the koh moo yang which I highly recommend! Dishes were cleared without us having to ask and everyone was super friendly. I will be returning VERY soon.

I chose this restaurant because most of our friends were in Springfield Va. Wow what a great find . Had to wait an hour to get out table as we didn't have any reservations . They didn't disappoint us. Food was delicious and just tasty . We were a group of 12 . Pad ka praw pork super tasty. Our meat was a bit dry . Drunken noodles was yummy plus Pad thai was very tasty . Calamari too good so was Dumplings . Our other friends ordered a variety of their curries they just loved it .Please make reservations .

We ordered a lot of foods and all of them were good!! After the restaurant renovated, it was so nice, cozy and clean looking. Nice to take your friends or family because all the foods were good portions for sharing. The servers were good service.

This was our first visit to Thai Ghang Waan in Brookfield Plaza (love the retro 60s Brookfield sign at the entrance). Lots to like at Thai Ghang Waan. The restaurant was thoughtfully designed with a door immediately inside the front door, which is great for keeping cold drafts from entering the establishment. Thai Ghang Waan is immaculately clean so we felt kinda bad when we inadvertently tracked in salty brine from the sidewalk outside. They'll have to deal with this for a while because it appears the 10" of snow that fell Monday ain't goin' anyplace soon. Service was excellent. We liked how our friendly, kind and attentive server immediately brought out small plates, chopsticks, spoons and plenty of napkins along with the menus. During our meal, whenever the water level dropped in my glass, our server was right there to provide a refill. I really love that! We started out with an order of the steamed dumplings. The steamed dumplings were oh so delicious, made even better with the accompanying sweet soy sauce. BTW, ever since I had sweet soy sauce for the first time in Doi Moi in DC, I jump for dishes that come with it. Thai Ghang Waan's dumplings might, from appearance, remind you of shumai. For my entrée, I ordered the Phad Thai with pork. It was pretty good with plenty of pork and lots of crumbled peanut. The flavor was not bad at all, but I would have preferred a stronger hint of tamarind sauce. JP ordered the Phad Thai Ra Yong. I think of as Phad Thai Plus, because it was essentially the same as my Phad Thai, except it had (some) crab meat and two giant shrimp. I thought they were crawfish, but they were just unshelled big shrimp with legs and everything. While we absolutely will come back, we do wish they had timed the arrival of our entrees at the table a little better. JP's dish came out nearly 10 minutes after mine. There were no other eat-in customers while we were there, but several people came in to pick up take out orders.

Thai Ghang Waan is a little hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant serving up authentic Thai dishes as well as some Western favorites. The place is always packed, but the wait isn't too long since the food comes out relatively quick but always hot and to order. The interior is warm and inviting just like their customer service. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The noise level is average, so you don't have to worry about yelling over any speaker system or whispering so that you aren't breaking any still silence. My go-to dish is the garlic lover with chicken. The chicken is tender, the vegetables are fresh, and the garlic flavor isn't overly powerful since I for one would never call myself a garlic lover. The dinner portion is about 50% larger than the lunch portion, but both are at a great price for the quality food you get. Overall, highly recommend trying Thai Ghang Waan out whether you're looking for comfort authentic or Western Thai food.

Great food! Along with delicious food, this place offers some different dishes that you don't find in other Thai restaurants. This introduces you to many new experiences. There's adequate free parking so no trouble going there. The staff are very friendly, and the environment is very comfortable. They can get very busy so plan around peak times. On this visit I tried the steak Thai Ghang Waan, which had wonderful flavors, while my wife tried the floating market noodle soup and said was delicious.

That's how I spend many of my days off as a restaurant owner myself. My experience started off on the wrong foot when I was directed to a very small table for one. I politely explained several times that I typically order a substantial amount of food and would need more space. I was told the larger tables were reserved and that tables could be pushed together later if needed. As the meal progressed, a longtime friend of mine who works there came out to say hello. Shortly afterward, tables were combined, apologies were offered, and the experience improved significantly. What left me puzzled was that many of the larger "reserved" tables remained empty throughout my visit. By the time I left around 5:00 PM, they still had not been used. The food was mixed. I came specifically for the Khao Mun Gai, one of Thailand's most iconic dishes. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming. The chicken was average, the rice was decent, and the accompanying soup lacked depth and flavor. On the positive side, the Crackin' Belly was excellent--crispy, flavorful, and well executed. The Pad Thai Siam Shrimp was solid, and while the Tom Sab soup had good flavor, it was a bit too spicy for my preference. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The space is modern, clean, bright, and thoughtfully designed. Easily one of the nicer Thai restaurant interiors in Northern Virginia. One additional detail stood out. My friend joined me briefly for a toast. I ordered a double bourbon, and he ordered a shot. All three shots appeared on my bill, totaling $45. While not a major issue, it felt like a missed opportunity for hospitality given the circumstances. In the end, my bill was approximately $163 for a solo meal. My biggest takeaway wasn't the food--it was the inconsistency in hospitality. The experience improved dramatically after I was recognized, and every guest should feel welcomed and valued from the moment they walk through the door, regardless of appearance or assumptions about what they may spend. The restaurant has a talented kitchen, a beautiful dining room, and plenty of potential. With more consistent hospitality, this could easily become a destination Thai restaurant.

With a little persistence and a short walk, I found a spot. Walking in to the restaurant, there is a small greeting counter. No one was there and so we walked to the back. You don't see the tables when walking into the place, I suspect the kitchen is along side the hallway leading to the tables. The ambiance is friendly, casual with the tables and booths well spaced to provide privacy. The restaurant was relatively empty during our meal and the noise level was comfortable, allowing us to have conversation easily. Thai food is one of my two favorite and I am always looking for a new place to be inspired. I put Thai Cafe on my list of places that I'll return to. I started my meal with Tom Yum Seafood soup. The flavor was really excellent. Two minor things for me: I like soup warm and not hot. For me, the temp was perfect but for other people who like their soup really hot, it probably wasn't hot enough. The other issue is 'how spicy does this restaurant prepare their food?' The soup was 1 pepper, which was a bit milder than I prefer, but accurate. I added a bit more spice. I chose the vegetarian Kapow Pak. The dish is prepared in a brown sauce which frankly isn't my favorite. But it was really good. The veges were fresh, crisp and crunchy, and the tofu was wonderfully lightly fried. The dish is described as medium spicy, reasonably accurate. My friend chose the Pad Woon Sean with chicken. I didn't try it but he said it was a 10/10. The staff were friendly, helpful, and helped me select my dish. This is a family business that's been open for about 30 years. The servers were totally wonderful. I will certainly be back.

Some of our food favorites were the moo ping with sticky rice as an appetizer. The pork marinade was really good! The crispy chicken with green curry was also delicious. The chicken had a great crisp, and it wasn't an overwhelming amount of green curry. The volcano tom yum dish using Mama instant noodles was a visually stunning dish. It was also tasty, served with a lot of seafood. The Mama cup was repurposed to hold veggies. Normally it seems chefs go overboard with ginger, but here's an example of using just the right amount. The Thai Iced Coffee came in a generous portion, but had an odd bitter flavor. The great Phad Thai is what motivates me to come back. If it wasn't for the Phad Thai, this review would have been three stars.

I came here with a friend for lunch on a Thursday. I was relieved to see several patrons already there especially since this location feels more like an unassuming, off the beaten path, dilapidated, truck stop, hole in the wall. I ordered the Pad Thai lunch combo with the side salad and boy was the dressing on the salad sensational. It was sophisticatedly sweet and packed full of umami. I think I could eat that all day. When the Pad Thai arrived, I was also pleasantly surprised with the taste; however, two things struck me as very odd -- the thin noodles and white color! It did not have the familiar reddish look of tamarind which I thought was essential for Pad Thai. Regardless, it was delicious and I ate everything. Not a single morsel of food was left. If i weren't eating with polite company, I would have probably slurped the remaining dressing from the salad bowl. I'm definitely coming back and it shouldn't be difficult because the prices seem fairly inexpensive.

The seating area is small and can be crowded during the lunch rush but they do have a very active carry out business as well. The food is always fresh and comes out quickly. Some favorites are the ocean fries, pad Thai, garlic obsession, basil fried rice, and spicy beef salad. We honestly have not had a bad dish here and the staff are very friendly and welcoming!

5/5 Stars - Treat-to-Self! I decided to skip the frantic…read morebrunch crowds and treat myself to a solo date at Rice & Spice Thai Cuisine for Mother's Day, and honestly? It was the best decision I've made all month. There is something about a woman-owned gem that just hits the spot--the attention to detail, the welcoming energy, and of course, the incredible food. The moment you walk in, the aesthetic sets the mood. The teal wood-paneled walls paired with those gorgeous woven basket pendant lights draped in cherry blossoms? Absolute magic. It's chic, cozy, and felt like a little escape. I went all out on the menu and wasn't disappointed: * Chive Dumplings: These were the star of the show. Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served with a savory dipping sauce that I could have finished with a spoon. * Vegetable Soup: Light, clear, and packed with fresh, vibrant veggies. It was the perfect "reset" bowl. * Crab Fried Rice: They did not skimp on the crab! It was fresh, fluffy, and paired perfectly with a cold, crisp Singha beer. Whether you're celebrating a holiday or just need to romanticize your life with some top-tier Thai food, this is the place. The service was lovely, the Mother's Day special menu was a thoughtful touch, and the atmosphere is 10/10. Chef's kiss. I'll definitely be back!
