Amanda always does me right. When I started getting my hair done last October I didn't have a good idea of what a hair appointment was supposed to be like. Since coming to see Amanda I've upped my standards of stylist customer service! She looks at the pictures I show her to help pick them apart and find out what's possible and best for my hair (no matter how many pics I have). Its been two days and i refuse to wash my hair because of how silky and beautiful amanda made my hair turn out. I came in with the literal worst hair ever in my life, all tangled up and dry with dandruff lol. They performed a miracle forreal. I just keep shaking my hair around. I have tried 4 different salons since moving to Sacramento. The last one double processed my color after an initial error and it fried my very fine and fairly thin hair. i recently took my elderly mother in law to Mandevilla Salon for a much needed haircut. She is 85 and at the beginning stages of dementia. She was treated with such kind and gentle care as her beauty consult began. Unfortunately, 25 minutes into the appointment, my mother in law lost consciousness in the chair. Amanda was quick to act, as I was on my phone. I jumped to her side while Amanda called 911 and the other stylist, Johnathan paused his work (understanding client!) and went out to flag down the Fire Dept. I don't know if hair cuts will be in my mother in law's near future but she did end up getting a very cute cut from Amanda....even though she left in an ambulance with her cut only 90% complete. Reasonable price and awesome hair! Been looking for a couple years to find a stylist that I like, I'm so happy I found Amanda! She pays attention to detail and is very knowledgeable. I went in with purple hair and wanted to go blonde. The product she used to lift the purple out was awesome, it completely removed all of the purple and it only took one application! Normally it takes 2 or 3 hair color removing applications to remove vivid colors, but done in 1 application! After the stripping of the purple, and 2 color applications which included bleach my hair was still very healthy. I also chopped all my hair off and provided pics of styles I liked and pics of my previous styles and Amanda knocked it out of the park! Someone took my daughter to Supercuts. This was the result.... I immediately ran to Amanda and asked her to fix it. Pictures are worth 1,000 words. To start off, I just want to say that this was my first time getting the Facebook special for the balayage and cut. The area is not really so safe (super sketchy). Came because I wanted to get a balayage special and saw the price was around $130 something and with the holidays coming up I wanted a change in my hair. When I got there, a man by the name of Jonathan was going to do the balayage. Since my hair was previously dark, we couldn't lift the color to a blonde that I wanted but we could've lifted it to a lighter brown. That's okay. However, there was a lot of patchy and uneven spots. The color looked red / orange, it was terrible. I'm not the type of person to speak up when it comes to my hair. Amanda was next to cut my hair and did notice the patchiness and tried to fix it by applying color over the root, but it didn't do anything. Don't get me wrong, Amanda did a great job in cutting my hair, and Jonathan was really nice, but the color / balayage was not good. To my black / dark brown haired peeps, I strongly reccomend going somewhere else and spending the extra money. The fact that Jonathan thought it was okay to send me out like this, was not okay. I really wish I didn't tip / spent the money here.. I ended up going somewhere else the next day (last minute) to get it fixed. read more

Not a good experience. First time getting a balayage and I had to go to another salon to get it fixed (photo on the right is the fixed one). They completely fried my hair, it was so frizzy and dry. I got a gloss and a keratin treatment at another salon that brought my hair back to normal. They gave me two huge "money pieces" in the front that didn't blend at all and looked very unnatural. The other salon said they always ask clients if they want that because a lot of people don't like it. There was no communication, I really wanted a natural look. Luckily the other salon was able to tone it down. I had 3 people total doing my hair which I don't understand at all..was one a student? Nothing was explained but the two sides of my head are completely different since it was done by different people. Lastly the vibe was very strange..I was handed a phone with a spam call or something saying it was for me..I felt like I was at the butt of some joke. Luckily this whole experience led me to another salon that I really like. read more

Amanda gave a great cut. I enjoyed the color I got but after a wash I could see my hair was fried. I think the bleach was left in way too long. I also went home to see dots of the dye still on my scalp, which has never happened before at a salon to me. My hair feels damage and I'm in the process of trying to revive it with hydrating and protein treatments. I wish I could give a better review. read more

I got a balayage with Amanda and it was a bit disappointing. Like the other review, all the color was in the back and was not evenly distributed. My hair only looks OKAY curled. The first time I straightened my hair after getting my hair done was so bad- my friends screamed (see picture below). I had a bunch of different colors going on- a little bit of brown, little of yellow blonde, some ashy blonde and some grey on only the right side! This is due to some hair being virgin hair and others that were bleached prior and I wish she mentioned that BEFORE the treatment rather than after. Also, a red flag should've been that she colored my hair BEFORE cutting it. Most hairstylists cut the hair first and then color it so the colors go with the new haircut (framing wise) and so you're not wasting product on hair that will be cut anyway. When I reached out to Amanda via Instagram she said she'd add more strips and try to fix it at $70-$96. Never had a salon charge me to fix what THEY messed up? Nevertheless, I ended up going to another salon to get this mess fix before I had to go out of the country for my sister's wedding. As much as I would love to support small and new businesses, your hair is not something to risk with a newbie. read more

I debated posting this review for awhile and decided to just do it. Jonathan and Amanda are funny and sweet people but my hair experience was negative. They both worked on my baylayage on different sides of my head and as a result it was uneven. A salesman came in and they were very distracted by him. The bleach sat on different parts of my hair for different amounts of time...I did not get what I asked for at all either. Please don't work on someone's hair like this again I went and got it fixed somewhere else. The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is because you were so nice and accommodating but the result was not good. read more

Amanda and Jonathan are a great team. They are warm and both so talented at their specialties. Jonathan was thorough with the questions I had about the coloring process, which is really an art form... it led to a great conversation with them on other topics while they each worked on my hair.
