The restaurant is situated in a small group of shops and be aware of the car parking space in the front with half hour limits between 9am and 9pm. Dinner time on a mid weeknight and the restaurant is more than half full, we were shown to our table which is nicely spaced from the others. In the larger dining room, there are a couple large round tables in the corner which cater for big groups. The smaller dining area as you enter accommodated 2s and 4s, well spaced as well. Deco is clean and fresh with couple of big paintings on the walls. I liked the screen of sticks which separated the entry and dining room with decorative pots at one end. Food - as there are only the two of us which really limits the choices for sharing, nevertheless, we had one entree and 2 mains to share and that was plenty. The servings were generous especially the fish dish which we ordered. Our entree of duck salad was fresh and flavoursome, the sweet, sour and heat were all there, perhaps the chillies could have been cut back but I think it was good as an entree to get the senses going and to expect what's to follow! The signature dish of grilled chicken with green papaya and carrot salad live up to expectation. The chicken was moist and the salad was well balanced. The first mouthful of a bit of chicken, salad and accompanied by warm sticky rice was just sensational. Just wished the sticky rice can stay warm till the end of our last mouthful of the dish. The steam salmon in savoury custard was a bit too runny for my liking and the custard had separated with over cooked 'egg', but it tasted great, in fact, I was glad of the 'sauce' in the end to douse my rice like a good curry does. We left without sampling desserts which were mainly ice cream and sticky rice. The rainbow ice cream bar of strawberry, coconut, pandan and orange sounds a great combination, looks like I'll be back one day. I'll try the curries then as well.

First impression of this place doesn't really make for a lasting one due to its outdated interior and fittings. There is little ambience, saved by the warm lighting. It is a very 'typical' Chinese restaurant with tacky decorations and scattered Chinese ornaments / pictures which doesn't flow well throughout the space. Interior aside, lets talk food. It is the primary reason for our repeated return. We come here for the seafood with the cheesy lobster dish being a favourite of ours. However, market price for lobster at the moment is around $170 per kg, so we gave that a miss tonight. Service is slow, so, if you can order well in advance, you should, especially for takeaways and traditional, highly prized dishes such as lobster, king crabs, mud crabs, Peking duck and drunken chicken. Tonight, we had the salt and pepper prawns (shell optional - why? who wants to eat the shell?), fried barramundi, Peking ribs, salted fish fried rice, chicken and jellyfish, pork belly in Dong-Po sauce, prawn balls with greens, seafood noodles and hot and sour soup as starters. Everything was lovely, wasn't a big fan of the ribs, because I found the sauce too heavy in sourness. Barramundi wasn't as well seasoned as it could be. Other than that, it was great! Everyone enjoyed the shared meals and pretty much rolled out of there. The place might be outdated, but the consistency of the food is why we return year after year. Price wise, I think it is very reasonable given the area it is located in. Highly recommended.

Conventional wisdom often states that the more dingy or out of the way your noodle bar is, the tastier the fare but Lemongrass blows that theory way out the water. Lemongrass is the best of both worlds; authentic and delicious Thai food in a snazzy, Western friendly setting. By which I mean that the dishes are served up individually rather than being made to share, there are forks and spoons laid out on the table and the decor, the menus and general vibe of the place is that of a standard restaurant you'd go to on a Friday night with friends or on a date.

The one-and-only waiter was supremely friendly and somehow managed to wait the six or so occupied tables, and the three locals awaiting their takeaway. Guy deserves a raise. They take American Express, which is always a plus. Prices were reasonable. Now to the food. THAI GREEN CURRY. Lightly flavoured, lots of zucchini, a fair amount of chicken. Too much undercooked red onion. PAD THAI NOODLES. Heavy on the tamarind. Not a lot of other flavours came through. Generously served - loads of veg and chicken throughout the noodles. What this place lacks in flavour is made up for in generosity. We had enough for lunch the next day.
