The food here is always delicious! This is my family's favorite spot to visit at the Anaheim packing house because the food is fresh and delicious. We went on. Saturday night at 6pm and ordered the chicken plate, steak kabob plate, cheese rolls, falafel and fries. When I tell you the chicken was the most delicious chicken kebab I have tasted!!!! The steak plate also came with a side of Tabouleh; the most delicious tabouleh I've had outside my grandma's kitchen! All I have to say about this is everything just tastes 'right'. I recently ordered food from Mangal and it was delicious! I was greeted by a very kind and joyful cashier who made ordering easy and answered all of my questions from the menu. This lot has been vacant at The Packing House for sometime so seeing Mangal here put a smile on my face. I've always liked this type of cuisine because of the variety and the vibrant flavors. After finishing my meal, I was thoroughly impressed. Mangal has your kabobs, kibbeh (I'll have to try this next time because I've never had it), shwarma and wraps. There are different proteins to choose from ranging from beef to chicken. Expect to spend anywhere from $10-13 here for a filling meal. I got the beef shwarma plate which comes with rice, pickled veggies that you'd expect from a Meditteranean place, pita bread and your choice of two sides and a sauce. The meat was tasty as was the sauce but I have to say Zankou Chicken down the street slightly edges them (I prefer some burnt ends on my meat and the garlic sauce is more assertive there which I don't mind at all). My friend got their falafel and it looks more like a mini donut. The shape I think helped it maintain its moisture, it was soft and pillowy! What Mangal does well is their range of sides. OMG - so many to choose from and all so tasty. I got the babaganoush and the tabouli and they were excellent. I also got to try the cucumber tomato salad which was seasoned well. When I do return, I still have 4+ other things to try! Lastly, because it was the grand opening they gave out complimentary baklava which I don't usually care for. I ate this all - enough said. Best part of this place is it is one of the healthier options at Anaheim Packing House. But it is kind of pricey for what you get and service also needs a bit of work. Ordered the chicken kabob plate which comes with 2 sides, pita, and rice. I got the baba gahnoush, armenian salad, and I subbed fattoush salad (no pita) for the rice. Food itself was fine. Everything seemed fresh. But the portions were pretty small but they all came on separate plates which seemed wasteful and maybe gives the illusion that you are getting more food than you really are! I wasn't going to eat the pita or rice which is the reason why I asked about subbing. When I asked, the woman who took my order hesitated for a long time and then VERY reluctantly said they could do it, as if they were doing me this really big favor. Very awkward. Honestly it was great the fattoush needed more umff in it. For 6 bucks you would think you get a decent serving but it was for a kid not for an adult like me. Lol I know you're trying to make business but I'm Armenian I know what fattoush is, so the amount you're serving is kinda like a joke for the price...will you be happy with a small serving for 6 bucks lol come on now, just let that sink in... And for the beef shawarma wrap that was good, was hoping I'd get some more garlic flavor and maybe some crunch in the wrap but it was good I like it and would def eat it again! We absolutely love this. Place. Me come here every Friday and get a falafel wrap. We have tried many different falafel places in this area and this is by far the best one. Went there last night on a whim and found great food, great service, and a super fun ambience. I'm a falafel snob, spoiled by a place in my home town that I rank as #1...well...the falafel at Mangal was a close contender and a pleasant surprise. My wife agreed and my son loved his gyro (I ate half of that and wanted more!) The American Packing House in Anaheim is a super place to stop for any hungry patron. With a huge array of foods to choose from the various merchants there is something for everyone. Very chic! Very fun! There wasn't any sort of line so it was perfect seeing how hungry I was at the moment. I should have known that the lack of crowd was an indication that food and service were subpar. I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich which was super small for the 10 bucks I had paid. I was hoping that the issue would be resolved as soon as I took a bite but the chicken was so dry. I asked for a side of tahini sauce to add more flavor and one of the workers happily handed me one. If I didn't have hummus with every bite i would be at risk for choking. My shawarma mix plate came with hummus, a salad and a teaspoon of rice. It was so dry I thought I was eating beef jerky. I would've went back and complained but I was so hungry I sat and ate half my plate before I realized I was eating chalk. This was my second time eating so I thought I knew what to expect. This is probably one of the better restaurants in terms of portion size, price and food quality inside the packing house. Most restaurants are either overpriced or not very good taste. I love Mediterranean food so I'm always down to try a new place. I really enjoyed my plate and had enough leftover for a second meal. I ordered beef shwarma which came with rice, salad, and a choice of baba ganoosh (or hummus). The wait isn't too bad for the food either and no long lines here.
