Both my son and I caught a lot of fish and a lot of big fish! It was epic for us. I appreciate Joey's commitment to the South Fork of the Snake River. It is a treasure, he knows it and we know it. We saw over 12 eagles- spotted by Butch's eagle eyes! Docking at the end of the trip to discover their lovely slice of heaven with beautiful tipi tents to lounge in and glorious dinners with the back group of the Teton's behind the rambling river was truly magical! Simple words cannot recomend this enough! We sincerely thank you Butch and everyone in the wonderful Vintage tour team. (I'm sorry I forgot the name of the wonderful women who gave us the tour of the grounds and your lovely horses). We look forward to next time! Our guide Casey was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We saw lots of bald eagles, marmots, pelicans, cranes, beavers, and ducks. Then we went to the campsite where there was a magnificent spread of charcuterie and drinks waiting for us. Dutch cooked up an incredible dinner with local ingredients. Then we finished the night with an amazing dessert in our own tipi with a campfire inside. This was much more than we ever expected and we highly recommend it!

I did a lot of research and talked to someone here who explained to me that the runoff from the mountains this early in the season raises the water level so there are only a few places you can try to fly fish during this time of year and possibly have success. This company has a license to fish in areas that not all companies have so I booked with this company and I'm so glad that I did. We stopped by the shop the day before our booking because we were in town. We took care of the fishing licenses (but you can do this online) and were ready to go. We had Tim and Will as our guides. Will texted me the night before we were scheduled and we talked about what time to meet at the shop. When we arrived both Will and Tim were there to greet us and we headed up to the river. There were not very many boats on the river. Again, it's early in the season and it's tough fishing this time of year. Tim and Will were extremely knowledgeable and great instructors. Our family is very familiar fishing but have never fished on fly before. This is completely different from spin rod fishing. It took an incredible amount of patience to instructor beginners like us but they really helped encourage us and build up our confidence. Between the three of our family members on the trip, we brought five fish to the boat! We did get several more on the line but just couldn't set the hooks fast enough. I didn't really notice any of the other boats getting any fish except for one. I'm so glad that I booked with such knowledgeable and patient guides. I am certain we would not have had success this early in the season if we had booked with a different company. I highly recommend this company and especially the amazing guides that we had. These are really great people doing what they love and sharing their knowledge with others.

When I called to check out I was told the half-day charge was $695. That's 90% of the whole day charge! Now, this isn't my first rodeo. I've been fishing in Jackson for years, but this is much more than I expected for a half-day trip. But, I sucked it up....then Bruce, the guy on the phone starts complaining that my tip is too low. Really!? Not cool or appropriate. Well, I pay and I call Scott a couple of weeks later. He makes me feel like its my fault. I don't even know…read morewhere to begin with this review because it was the most fantastic experience--my written words will not do it justice (but my pics may help). We actually didn't even plan to go to Grand Teton on our vacation. We only planned to do Yellowstone and Glacier. But when my uncle saw that we were here, he started texting us all about GTNP and the scenic float ride they took. He hyped it up so much, that we turned our second day in Yellowstone into a Grand Teton Day! I called Barker Ewing the day before and they luckily had availability (just an FYI that we went in August during the pandemic, so I doubt they'd be able to squeeze us in if it were a normal year). They emailed me very detailed instructions on where to go, where to park, etc. We ended up finding the location with no issues! Soon after, our River Guide, Peter, showed up to take us on this magical journey! Luckily for us, it was just our party of three and one party of two (due to COVID restrictions). Peter told us normally they pack the boats with 12 or so people. So we were incredibly spoiled. We each got one side of the raft to ourselves- which was awesome! We were able to sit on the edge for an adventurous feeling; or we could sit down and sprawl out for a more relaxed vibe. The entire raft ride took about 2.5 hours. It was a scenic raft ride and not a white water raft ride, so it was all so peaceful. It's a ten mile ride up the Snake River. Peter did all of the rowing as he guided us through. We have never met anyone as knowledgeable and inspirational as Peter! He absolutely loves the outdoors. Said he knew since he was 8 or 9 that he wanted to move to Grand Teton and become a River Guide. Talk about following your dreams! He lives on the property in a tepee (so cool!). And he's seen all wildlife imaginable (except for a wolverine, but he can still tell you all about them!). I've never met someone so incredibly passionate about what they do. I work in HR so when I see a human being so perfectly matched to their profession, I get almost giddy about it. Never was there a better river guide than Peter! I loved so much how he was answering all of our questions with zeal. You can tell he lives for this! He is one of those rare people who make you stop and think "Am I living life to the fullest?" Needless to say, I am still trying to find my "inner Peter." My sister, brother-in-law and I talked about him for the rest of the trip! We did end up seeing some bald eagles during our ride which was really cool! Peter knew all about them of course, and even had a name for one of the younger ones ("Junior"). We were hoping to see Moose (it's called Moose, WY after all!) but didn't get a sighting. The views are absolutely stunning with the Tetons in the background. The water flowing right underneath and all around you makes for such a serene experience. There was a time where I was so at peace, that I almost dozed off. But I told myself "I cannot fall asleep when these are my views!" This has to be the closest I've ever felt to have a heavenly peace. All told, we all agreed that this was our favorite thing on our trip. For me, it is a highlight of all vacations I've ever taken! I cannot say enough good things about this experience and if you are in Grand Teton, you HAVE to make this a priority! I'm so glad my uncle hyped it up to us. He didn't oversell it at all-- if anything, it was better than we imagined! Thank you, Peter, for this unforgettable and inspiring experience! We hope to be back to see you again one day!
