On a trip to Kingston we were craving Thai and picked Mango based on reviews. I ordered the red Thai curry, he had the green curry. Some people mentioned that the chefs are heavy handed with the spice, and were they ever right. I ordered my red curry with medium spice (mild was not an option), and it was far too spicy for my palate. Not only was I disappointed by the spice, but the red curry didn't have much flavour. If you dine here, skip the red curry. The menu is so large that I'm sure there are many other great options.

Mango Thai had a great selection of food. We ordered the beef egg noodles, the mango chicken and the red curry. When they say spicy, they mean spicy. The food was delicious. Mango juice was not that great, but try the mango smoothie instead. The beef was really juicy and delicious. The red coconut curry was great, but the broccoli was a little bitter. The mango chicken was perfect, crunchy but with a touch of mango sauce. We upgraded the jasmine rice that came with with the curry to coconut sticky rice. It was fresh and was presented in a bamboo leaf, which was cute. Overall very enjoyable. Staff was very friendly. Atmosphere was quite simple and clean.

I loved the food at Mango ten years ago (when I was a student) and I love it even now when I tried it yesterday. The "Tasting Platter" is something I really like. The service is quick, the food is very delicious, the staff is friendly and the choices are many. They can make food "mild" if you want to. If you want to try an entree, explore the curry dishes. With coconut milk added to it, it's really yummy. The food is great and the five stars is because they keep their washrooms clean (which a lot of restaurants neglect). Hoping that they retain the flavour for my next visit to Kingston.

I decided it'd be cool after Toronto instead of going the same way back to go up east-northeast and come back into the US from the Thousands Islands Bridge to see something different. We arrived in Kingston at dinnertime hungry but unsure what to eat. I looked on Yelp after parking in downtown, but was still unsure. My girlfriend & I needed to use restroom and popped in a hotel. We asked the front desk recommendations. She recommended Dianne's very close walk. We ate outside. It was balmy for Kingston in early June with temps in the 70's F around 8 PM; their average high temp in early June is only upper 60's F (around 20 C). Our server was friendly. She said people are enjoying the first really warm evening of the season. We both got their fish n' chips. It's an Alaskan Pacific haddock as opposed to cod or others used. This is superior to other fish n' chips I've had. This is delicious. Fries were good too, but the fish was the real star and about the best fried fish I've had.

Since we're not locals in the area, we opted for the poutine then my daughter opted for the fish taco. Her food was actually good but rather a very small serving. Either that, or we're used to American-sized servings. The poutine we had was the seafood type since we figured out, they should have amazing seafood since we're near water. Flavor-wise, I think they needed more. The sauce that came with it did not seem to give justice to the dish. Nice location though. And service was good. Food, unfortunately, felt short of my expectations.

I came here for lunch on a weekend and the service and food was wonderful…read more I was seated by the window and offered water and was given bread with balsamic and oil until my meal arrived. I ordered a dirty martini (but upset places don't offer or know about blue cheese olives that go wonderfully with dirty martinis) I had the squid for appetizer - absolutely delicious. However, my last bite I had some of the spine/backbone that hadn't been removed/missed from cleaning it - wasn't a big deal. I just mentioned it to my server Nick and moved on - was just happy it was part of the squid anatomy and not a piece of plastic - that would have been horrible. The beef cheek gnocchi was rich and tender with a hint of truffle in the sauce. The dish was most decadent and I ate it slowly so I could savor the flavor. I ordered a small Caesar salad to cut through the richness of the dish. Was divine. I was excited to try the crème brûlée- the caramel topping was way too thick and made the dish overly sweet. I decided to just eat the custard which was creamy and delicious. Overall I still give 4 stars because I had a really great experience but it could have been just a touch better.

Half of my family went in to grab our table while my dad and I spent some time searching for parking which probably took roughly 15 minutes. When we got in, there was already water on our table which was nice however after that moment it took 20 minutes for our server to come to our table. I have a lot higher expectations for this place as I have been a couple times and it is a higher end restaurant so I was kinda disappointed. Mind you our reso was at 8pm so we were pretty hungry at this point. The server didn't really say much or apologize for not coming by so it was overall a bit strange. Besides that the food was pretty good, I got the seafood linguine which tasted pretty fresh but I probably wouldn't order it again as there are other things on the menu I like better. My dad ordered the braised lamb shank and my mom and grandma shared the penne pomodoro. Overall the lamb was definitely the best dish out of them all. Not sure if I would come back here, if I was ever visiting Kingston again as there are just so many great restaurants to choose from and I was not satisfied with the service which I think is important especially for a high end place.

We came as a group of 6 on a Thursday evening and thank goodness we had a reservation, because oh my it was busy! Greco' seems to primarily be a Greek restaurant that also serves Italian dishes. FOOD (3.5/5) I ordered a Spanakopita as a starter and the Double Souvlaki Platter as my entree. The spanakopita came cut in half and the puff pastry was really flaky (and messy!). The filling was good but could've had more to better balance the amount of pastry. My colleague ordered the Zucchini starter which is a bowl of battered and deep fried zucchini slices served with tzatziki on the side. It came piping hot and borderline burned our tongues, so be careful taking your first bites! The portion of this is huge and should definitely be shared. The Double Souvlaki Platter has 2 portions (skewers sans the skewer) of souvlaki, Greek salad, rice, potatoes, and tzatziki. Super classic dish and I think it delivered in most aspects. The meat was well cooked, salad was nicely dressed, and rice and potatoes were seasoned with a bit of lemon. DRINKS (4/5) To end the meal I ordered an espresso which came with a mini almond cookie. I was pleasantly surprised that the espresso was nicely extracted, good crema from a dark chocolatey bean. SERVICE (4/5) Our server Norm was very friendly and joked around with us a lot. One of my colleagues had to order and leave early, and they brought their food out very timely. There however were some minor inconveniences such as missing cutlery and a colleague's salad was not dressed at all. They can split cheques and accept Amex. VALUE (4/5) A starter, entree (with leftovers), and espresso came out to be $40 which in my opinion is great value. Of course this is with a Toronto POV, so I'm not entirely sure how this stacks up against the local Kingston area. AMBIENCE (2/5) The front portion has a few booth seats and feels more like a pub with the bar along the side. The backside of the restaurant is a bit more spacious but has the cozy ambience of a mom and pop restaurant. LOCATION (5/5) From my understanding of Downtown Kingston, Grecos is right on THE main street Princess St and has street parking and a few lots around the area. Don't think it gets any better in location in Kingston. OVERALL (3.5/5) The doorway had several award placards over the last few years and combined with the personal recommendation from a friend, I walked in with high expectations. I think the food and service was good, especially for the value, but did not feel like I walked away amazed. Nonetheless, a good restaurant to check out if you're looking for a sit down Greek/Italian spot in Kingston.

The place is open and bright wherever you sit, whether on the outdoor patio, downstairs by the bar, or upstairs. Service was excellent. My reservation was smoothly handled, and my server took good care of me. I got offeres some bread and butter after I ordered, which was really a nice surprise. The offered breads were seeded, ollve, and rustic style. All delicious, especially with the sweet butter. For the main meal, I got a half dozen oysters, an order of cha gio and their Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad. The cha gio were crispy, not greasy, sweet and savoury. The oysters were super fresh, sweet and a good size. Along with the usual condiments, they included pickled red onion, which is the first time I've ever had this. I really enjoyed the acidic sweet bite enhancing the sweetness of the oysters. The Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad had microgreens, red cabbage, red and green and yellow sweet pepper, red chili pepper, edamame, coriander, green onions, and fried parsnip chips. The Ahi was charred on the outside, fresh and meaty. I appreciate that the sesame oil, soy sauce and hint of chili on the perfectly chewy noodles was separate from the veggies. The vegetables had a very clean flavour, but I would have liked something more, maybe a touch of citrus. A glass of good wine rounded out the whole experience. I was way too full at the end of the meal to even contemplate dessert. All in all, a great meal, and I would return any time.

Normally I would never get this type of pizza as I love a red sauce, but this was recommended by one of my friend's friends so we tried it. And I'm so glad we did! This pizza is amazing and the flavours are prefectly balanced. Fast forward to this year, I was on a road trip with my husband and my dog and I just HAD to have this pizza again. We ordered the Nona Mela and the Citta pizza (the Citta has prosciutto and brie), and they were both delicious! The Nona Mela was especially good, and my husband agreed that it was a lot better than what he expected. We couldn't finish the two pizzas between us, so we brought the leftovers home and reheated it two days later. Somehow, the pizza was even better than the day of! We actually ordered an extra Nona Mela to bring home to one of my friends who was on the girls trip a few years ago, as she also has been thinking of this pizza. That's how good it is! The pizza is on the pricier side though, but very worth. We sat on the patio since we had a dog and the waiters/waitresses were very nice and gave my dog a water bowl.
