I loved the seasoning. Unfortunately my arroz con gandules didn't have that much pigeon peas in it. It was still good though. Hubby had steak & garlic chicken W/ rice & black beans, which he loved! Our friend had a double smash burger, which she liked. Service was good. I would come back here if I lived closer. Unfortunately, we live 45mins away. I recommend everyone try this place! I had a fun, friendly and delicious experience here! I ordered dinner for two to go around 4pm because several people we know have recommended this Puerto Rican restaurant. I had actually been here a few weeks back on an early Sunday morning for a lively, free and interesting cars and coffee event. I was looking forward to a full dinner! She offered a mocktail, of her own invention so I immediately said yes! She whipped up a beautiful drink which was also very tasty! I asked what was in it and I remember pineapple, strawberry and lemon wedges plus some other ingredients that I don't remember. It's stunning so I took a video! I asked what she called it and she explained "Omi's Sunshine Mocktail!" Perfecto! We ate the empanada on the way home and it was large, crunch and tasty! Our entrees, my lechon with salad, yellow rice and pigeon peas was well presented and yummy. I don't know what the sauce was or how it was supposed to be consumed so I just mixed it all together! Went for the first time yesterday. Absolutely delicious lunch. My husband has the double smash burger which was so big he couldn't finish it. I had the shrimp mofongo. The best I've had since being in Puerto Rico. The owner stopped and talked with us and was very pleasant. And our waitress was special as well. So I'm quite bit jealous of the locals for having such an authentic neighborhood Puerto Rican spot. If I lived here I'd frequent it at least weekly. Once again our trusty Yelp app came to the rescue because of all the previous reviews and for that I thank you. Omi's Grill is on point folks!! The apps and the food were all tastefully authentic. No seriously everything was great. The bacalaitos, pastelillos, alcapuria wow! The mofongo - bangin! The chicharrón de pollo - Aye Dios Mío! And the white rice and beans - simply comforting. This place offers delicious Puerto Rican cuisine. We had tried surf and turf with flank steak and octopus salad. The octopus salad was really good. We had ordered this dish since they were food truck. The steak was not bad. I also like their garlic shrimp with Monfongo- big shrimps with rich, yummy, garlic sauce. And the mofongo is always good- tasty, big portion, and fresh. The rotisserie chicken is also my favorite -big bird, well-seasoned and juicy. We came by to try a new restaurant for us. We were seated right away and Omi greeted us and brought our drinks and explained the menu and showed us some of his pictures. We decided on the Octopus Salad (8oz, $9.49) and Plantain Sandwich with chicken ($12.50) and the Mofongo with Flank Steak, rice and red beans (19.95). The octopus salad came in a nice plastic bowl with lid underneath if you did not finish it all. It was very good and we saved a bit to take home. The plantain sandwich with chicken was also very good, the chicken was nicely seasoned and tender. They also made my French fries without salt. The mufongo was also very good. The mixture of green and ripe plantains was tasty. The steak was very tender for being cut thin. Again the Mufongo was served in a dish with lid underneath, very convenient. We could not eat it all so packaged them u p to take home for dinner. Omi told us about the pig roast they do on Saturdays, which was the day before our visit. We asked if he had a pound we could purchase and he was very accommodating (1lb Lechon Solo $12.50) We did try a piece in the car and it was very good. Wow! Just Wow! I belong to a social group that tries out different restaurants in the area. Today, we went to Omi's bar and grill. The place was already for 15 of us. The owner was so welcoming and attentive. He was friendly and gave us samples of things that were delicious. Great management and staff make all the difference, and Omi does it right. Now the food! The majority of us had the smashburger. It was spot on and probably the best burger I have ever had. Both the burger and fries were seasoned perfectly. The answer was that "we are a delli service" which makes no sense since the whole.place is full of seating! Nor is this option added online. You will also not get an itemized bill.
